One of my very favorite Instagrammers posted about the Bath & Body Works Summer 2020 Collection featuring the new Boardwalk Taffy fragrance and I’m pretty excited. Finally, Bath and Body Works may just be listening to us demanding more gourmands.

Let’s be honest for a moment here ok? Bath and Body Works releases a lot of repetitive fragrances that are fall into the fruity sweet world or the fruity floral one. I don’t mind these scents in the least however, after a while everything just smells the same. They have endless seasonal releases every few weeks and most times each new fragrance launch is exactly like the last. Hell, even candles seem to smell exactly the same with a new name. It’s annoying.

For years now I’ve bitched myself hoarse about the lack of gourmand scents from Bath and Body Works and finally they are listening. They launched some amazing scents for the Holidays this year and also, more recently they launched another round up great fragrance for Spring like Strawberry Pound Cake. It truly is a step in the right direction in my opinion!

Over the course of the last three to five years the beauty industry and community has gone through many, many, many changes. I’ve seen blog focus migrate towards youTube and video tutorials, I’ve seen youTube’s numbers dropped with more focus on Instagram, and as of late even Instagram’s engagement is down with more focus on TikTok (which is absolutely crazy but oddly amusing and addicting).

During this time I’ve also seen the trend of purchasing anything full price was considered absurd as the market was so heavily saturated with releases that were simply not selling out as quickly as they once did. Sales on Urban Decay limited edition collections, Too Faced releases, Bobbi Brown, and more have been very, very common. We are completely conditioned to not pay full price on any release because we know within a week maybe two we’ll see items on sale for 20 to 25% off and even 50% off if we bide our time well enough.

I’ve been privy to the world of luxury fashion and accessories dramatically falling. Even those with disposable income won’t pay full price for technology, couture, etc….

But one of the newest norms I’ve noticed since around December is luxury makeup and beauty sales.

I admit that I have been wearing highlighter inside while sitting on the couch. I actually don’t wear highlighter a lot but now that I’m stuck inside all day it’s like, “OH HEY I want to glow!” I do love some of my Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfectors. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Own Your Light is a new shade for Summer 2020. This one strikes home for me as it’s a warm gold with pink and peach. You know how much I love a good NARS Orgasm-like glow! However, the swatches give this one the appearance of being a duochrome-like shade which makes me a bit unsure if it’s exactly the golden peachy pink I’m looking for. I still want it 🙂 Because I think it’ll look fab over a little cheek stain. Or maybe even over another peach blush I own. I purchased the Sephora Rose Brush Set during the Rouge Bonus Event and one of the brushes in there is turning into a favorite of mine for really light blush or highlighter application. I’m super heavy-handed and this brush is making my application so much smoother. I wanna see how well it’ll perform with this new Becca shade!
