Paula’s Choice Omega+ Complex Cleansing Balm Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post but all opinions are my own.
5 stars out of 5

Paula’s Choice Omega+ Complex Cleansing Balm ($28) is a new cleansing balm that contains jojoba and meadowfoam seed oils that nourish skin as the balm acts to gently and effectively remove makeup. The entire idea behind the new Omega+ Complex Cleansing Balm was to create a makeup cleanser that removed your makeup but didn’t strip your skin or leave it tight and dry after cleansing. I dunno about you but most cleansers I use be it a balm, an oil, or cream almost always leave me with a tight, dry feeling until I apply moisturizer. It’s just something I’ve come to expect after cleaning my skin and I rely on my toner, essence, and other treatments to restore moisture that was loss during that initial cleanse.

Paula’s Choice Omega+ Complex Cleansing Balm is one of the rare and very few products that removed my makeup without stripping my skin which means it’s my officially my ride or die now. I was sent a sample of this to try and after a single use immediately fell in love with it and ordered another tube so I have some more when I run out. It’s an absolute a marvel. Not only is the formula amazing but the packaging is perfect too!

Here’s the scoop!

Tarte Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer Review & Swatches

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.
4 stars out of 5

Tarte Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer ($27) is a new, moisturizing, full coverage version of the original Shape Tape Concealer with a built-in eye cream that provides 24 hours hydration and coverage. According to Tarte this is formulated with hyaluronic acid, vegan squalane, avocado, mango, and shea butters. It has a moisturizing matte finish that’s ideal for drier or aging eyes that doesn’t settle nor cake into eyes while providing up to 24 hours of moisture and 12 hours of coverage.

Sounds great right?

I did a post last week about how I suspected Tarte Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer wasn’t as pigmented as the original and I’m right. It’s sadly not pigmented. Fact of the matter is if you want a creamy, moisturizing concealer that’s pigmented chances are you won’t find it. I find that hydrating concealers aren’t pigmented 99.9% of the time. You just can’t have the best of both worlds when to concealer. It’s either hydration or pigment and you do have to make a choice between the two.

In my case, I’m very lucky the original Shape Tape Concealer doesn’t crease and it wears long on me without looking dry! When they introduced this new Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer formula I was excited but I didn’t hype myself up into believing it would be as good as the original which is my ride or die. I think that’s why I’m not disappointed with it as I wasn’t expecting much and that’s exactly what I got.

This isn’t to say it’s bad. It’s not. It’s a good formula! It’s just not as pigmented as the original and the marketing and reviews coming in from a variety of different places can be misleading. Anyone that tells you Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer is going to get you the exact same coverage you get from the original Shape Tape might be using something different than what I tried because I can’t say that and I won’t say that. The two products are vastly different and are in no way the same in regards to texture, formula, wear, and pigment.
