Makeup and Beauty You Don’t Need
Welcome to Makeup and Beauty You Don’t Need! I thought I’d do a recap of some makeup misses that you may or may not have read about. This is a collection of items that didn’t quite work out for me that I felt perhaps weren’t worth indulging in, priced too high, or just had performance issues!
Of course, different strokes for different folks I always say! So something I absolutely hate you might absolutely love and vice versa! But I still thought it would be fun to round up some of makeup misses this month.
Take a look!
Tarte Glisten Cheek Stain
I’m still trying to get over the devastation factor on this one. I love Glisten Blush! It’s my favorite shade and I was really excited it was being formulated into a cheek stain! Since Summer is still very much here I had visions of giving my cheeks a gorgeous peachy pink glow. Sadly, all I got with this was a lot of shimmer, not a ton of color, and it looked all kinds of frosty on me.
Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Blur Primer
YSL’s new primer seemed posivitely dreamy so imagine my surprise, even as a dry skinned girl, how greasy and slick this face primer was! Skip and get their Blur Perfect instead!
Sephora Bright Set Loose Finishing Powder
Sephora’s new “banana” powder seemed an ideal treat for brightening up and setting powder but I wasn’t quite sold out the texture for using under my eyes and would highly suggest going with Besame’s powder instead!
Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Gloss
The fact that Baby Lips was being formulated into a lipgloss took the beauty blog world by storm. Everyone and their mom is recommending you pick up these new glosses but I thought they were sheer, not moisturizing, and just a really mediocre lipgloss at best.
Too Faced Love Flush Long-Lasting Blush
Love Flush is getting a big hooray due to its very, very cute packaging and Tarte fans were hoping this formula was as long wearing as their beloved Amazonian Clay Blush. But no dice! I didn’t like this very much at all and felt the finish was rather flat and the wear pretty short.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush
Neutrogena’s new blushes look cute and pigmented and they get high scores for both but the formula isn’t quite as great as I had hoped for!
Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield
Murad scores high for perfecting skin and prepping it well for makeup but the expensive price tag and the fact that it promises to protect skin with an SPF 50 had me lowering the grade on it!
Rimmel Keep Calm and Lip Balm
Rimmel’s Keep Calm and Lip Balm tickled my inner anglophile but these seemed like they’d be more fitting as a child’s toy!
