Tarte Tartelette 2 In Bloom Amazonian Clay Palette Review & Swatches
The new Tarte Tartelette 2 In Bloom Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Palette for Spring 2016 arrives on November 15th at Ulta.com. The Tartelette 2 In Bloom Amazonian Clay Palette is a new take on the popular Tartelette Amazonian Clay Palette that launched last year with a warmer selection of eyeshadow shades! The original palette was all about hues of matte pinks, creams, and purples where as the new palette contains warmer, richer shades of taupe, creams, browns, and taupes in an assortment of finishes including mattes and metallics.
This palette is designed exactly like the original in the fact it holds 12 eyeshadows but the design is different on the face palette as this time it is decorated with a kaleidoscope of floral blooms in a watercolor-like print.
Let’s take a look!
You get:
- Charmer (off white)
- Jetsetter (warm taupe)
- Rocker (shimmering taupe)
- Smokeshow (black brown)
- Flower Child (peachy nude)
- Smarty Pants (tan)
- Firecracker (bronze copper)
- Activist (dark brown)
- Funny Girl (champagne)
- Sweetheart (peach)
- Rebel (chestnut brown)
- Leader (aubergine)
As much as I loved last year’s palette I must say that In Bloom contains an assortment of shades I’ll likely reach for most as I tend to like nudes, natural browns. I liked last year’s minimalist approach to packaging but I’m really enjoying the pretty floral burst on the palette! It’s a very pretty presentation. And good news, the name of each shadow is printed below each shade. The case also includes a very, very generously sized mirror should you be traveling with the palette.
I like the way the shades are arranged as four across match up to create a look or three down creates a look as well. So you never have to over think which shades will go with which. The shades are all arranged in a way that makes it easy to create a look. And hey, if you’re still having problems there’s a get the look card inside the box that includes instructions to create different looks.
Now they’ll be debate about whether or not you need this palette because well, dupes. There are a good deal of shades here that Tarte has done in past palettes but personally I think they are variation of the shades but not exact duplications. There are some real stand outs here (I’m talking to you Firecracker and oh you, Flower Child!) with one minor lemon which would be Funny Girl. Funny Girl is very sheer and provides very little color but outside of this the 11 others are perfect. I thought the mattes were super silky and it reminded me why I love Tarte so much as their mattes truly are fabulous and game changing for me. Now the mattes do dominate here with one satin shade which is Rocker, one metallic satiny shade which is Firecracker (truly a unique shade of bronze-y copper), and Funny Girl which is a frosty shimmer. Even though I’m a self proclaimed shimmer-a-holic, I actually love using and working with Tarte’s matte shadow formula! I did think that the original palette’s eyeshadows were a bit denser where as these are a bit more silkier and powdery. But don’t let powdery scare you as this does not translate to dry or chalky.

If you already own the original Tartlette Palette this is a considerably different palette as you can see. The original was more cooler, more sheerer, and fresher where as In Bloom is more about combining finishes and creating warmer, nuder looks. So it’s not a rerun of the original but stands up all its own.
I’m not where Spring trends are headed but I tend to embrace the nude look most in the Spring. I like that In Bloom combines different finishes so you can do a little matte combined with a pop of metallic on lids which will look amazing if you’re embracing the contouring trend that seems to have no end in site.
Yes, there could be potential dupes but I think the Tarte Tartelette 2 In Bloom Amazonian Clay Palette will be appealing to fans regardless. It’s a palette you’ll likely make use of quite often if you’re one that loves warm, nude, natural shades of color.
You’ll be able to order the Tartelette 2 In Bloom Palette Sunday, November 15th at Ulta.com. It launches in Ulta stores on 11/29 at at Sephora.com 12/15 and at Sephora stores 12/26 and everywhere else by 1/1.
