concealers to try

I’m a big nitpicker when it comes to concealer formula. I really sincerely believe I’ve already found my holy grail concealer of choice in Em the Great Cover Up but I still continue to try new formulas in the hope there is one it.

That’s part of being a makeup junkie isn’t it? We enjoy the thrill of the chase! So, even if we already own the best of the best lipstick formula out there out curiosity is still piqued when a new one pops up!

Here are 5 of the Nicest Concealers I’ve run into recently.

Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer Hydrate (Review & Swatches)
Amazing Cosmetics has a real handle on hydrating concealer now they just need to improve the shade selection on their new Concealer Hydrate formula and I’ll be a fan for life. This formula slides across eyes in a slick, hydrating layer. I’ve never run across a formula like this! My drier, finely dried eyes love this formula. This isn’t full coverage but there’s enough pigment here to brighten eyes up, conceal puffiness and finer lines, plus give eyes a refreshed, wide awake appearance. Sadly, the colors aren’t quite working on for me so you might want to head to your local Ulta to swatch, play, and see which shade will work best for you! Drier eyes take note, this formula is brilliant!

H&M Cover-Up Concealer (Review and Swatches)
H&M is for the girls and guys that need a touch of sheer coverage. This eye brightening formula is light, hydrating, easy to blend, and doesn’t cake or crease on drier eyes. If it was a touch more pigmented I’d climb the highest mountain with a megaphone to tell everyone the good word! But if you don’t have a ton to hide, this little concealer is cheap and brilliantly formulated.

Edward Bess Undo Time Blurring Concealer (Review and Swatches)
Ah Edward Bess comes at us with a creamy, hydrating, and dreamy concealer formula that glides under eyes easily, wakens them up! This gorgeously formulated concealer is fantastically easy to apply and wear.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer (Review and Swatches)
Tarte did a rather fab job with their new fluid concealer. This easy to apply concealer has a lightweight fluid consistency with a lightly hydrating finish that’s pigmented enough to conceal all your woe and drama.

Edward Bess Black Sea Extreme Cover Cream (Review and Swatches)
If coverage is what you need Edward Bess has it. Black Sea Extreme Cover Cream is exactly that, extreme! This super hardcore creamy coverage conceal will hide your most problematic areas and brighten up your entire face while doing it!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Hi, I really liked this review! Have you tried Essence new High Coverage concealer? I truly recommend it, plus it’s affordable!
    Lots of love,

    • Isabella Muse

I have! Thanks for the rec anyway though 🙂 xoxo!

For anyone with dark circles, NYX dark circle concealer is quick and easy to apply and does an amazing job of changing a bad look into a good one. Also, I have very fair skin and usually can’t find the right shade in foundation or concealer–and even though this concealer comes in only three shades–the fair shade is perfect for me. It’s not too light and it covers thoroughly.

NYX Gotcha Covered! I can’t speak to its efficacy of dark circle coverage (although it is quite pigmented), as that isn’t an issue for me, but it is sooo moisturizing without sliding around, or breaking down/melting my eye makeup. The dewy finish also helps brighten up the recesses of my deeper-set eyes.

I like the L’Oreal one in the tube, works for me right now,

I’m not a big Nars fan, but they hit it out of the park with their concealer, especially with so many shades. It’s hydrating and really does a great job overall. It’s not going to provide as much cover as some of the the really dense, sticky ones (It, Amazing) but it does very well with dark circles.

Being a concealer junkie, I’m generally game to try almost anything I can afford. But lately I have been using Onomie concealer pretty much exclusively for the past several months. It stays where I put it, it covers and lasts and best of all, it doesn’t crease. I’d say it’s about medium coverage but it doesn’t look cakey, either.

    • Isabella Muse

I haven’t tried Onomie concealer but now I need too 😀

I’m probably the only person who doesn’t care for the Nars creamy concealer. Shade range is good but it creases so terribly on me. It may be good for areas other than under the eyes, but that’s my main concealer use. I really like the new(ish) Bare Minerals one and have been also using/liking the Tarte colored clay corrector. Yesterday I tested the new YSL Touche Eclat corrector and really liked that.

    • Isabella Muse

Likewise, I gave it a rather poor review when it first launched. I feel alone lol! 😀 I like the Bare Minerals one too! Very creamy and lightweight. What’s different about the new YSL TE? Do you mean the color correctors (pink, green, etc..?)?

      • Dora

Phew, we are not alone. Love lots of Nars products — and that was one I ran out to buy based on reviews/the fact that everyone and her brother recommended it — but the concealer doesn’t work for me.

Yeah, I meant the TE correctors. I was under the impression that they were new — are they?

        • Isabella Muse

No, you are so not alone! I just didn’t get the raves at all! Also, many of my reader’s really like it but I never really loved the formula. I even tried it again recently just in case I judged it too quickly and I’m still meh on it! I should do a hit or miss post 😀 see who loves it who hates it, always love hearing how things pan out for people! Oh yes, they are, I thought you meant they had a new concealer pen I was getting excited 😀 I didn’t try the corrector shades yet, I’m kind of stocked up with Korea correctors and feel like I have too many to indulge in more at the moment but now you have me curious!

I am probably in the minority here but I use [gasp!] The Becca Aqua luminous foundation as my Concealer. It’s thin, serum-y and doesn’t crease on me. I apply just a little with a beauty blender and the product blends in seamlessly. Granted, I can’t speak if this would work well with someone with significant dark circles, and /or mature , lined undereyes. But for this 30 year old gal , I love it! It evens out my undereyes w/ the rest of my skin tone.

  • Kiran

I have heard about the Amazing Concealer, I am surprised to see the H&M concealer in this list as well. Great post, thanks for sharing, I have been seeing a lot of Edward Bess lately so I am keen to try some of their products. I might start with the concealer!

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye is tricky to get the hang of but it really works for me. And I like the L’Oreal TrueMatch stick concealer for zits – so many concealers don’t actually stick to bumps on the skin, and this one does and blends in really nicely.
