Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Skin-Transforming Powder Review & Swatches

I picked up Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Skin-Transforming Powder is part of the new Maybelline Summer 2016 and I purchased it on a whim two weeks ago when I was at the Evil Empire (aka Walmart). It’s not really a powder formulated for my particular skin type but when you blog beauty you have this urge to try everything and report back to the world what how you felt about it.
Also, it comes in a rather cool compact. At first, I was pissed off because the label isn’t printed on and it peeled right off. But soon after, I was all, “Hey! Maybelline can go all Too Faced Totally Cute Palette and create stickers to decorate this palette with!” It’s actually pretty cool you can peel the label right off. I wonder if Maybelline did this intentionally? Once you peel it off you’ve left with a simple yet chic white compact. It’s up to you if you want to keep it white or decorate it some other way.
Yeah, I dunno why, but this thrilled me. It’s the little things, people!

Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Skin-Transforming Powder apparently improves your skin’s appearance with each use. I’ve tried the liquid Superstay Better Skin and I wouldn’t say it did much to visibly improve my skin but perhaps my skin isn’t the demographic it was created for as I already have smooth, blemish-free skin. So, I can’t really speak for visible improvements when using this powder.
This was created with acne prone skin in mind as it does contain salicylic acid. It’s a mattifying powder that smooths skin and evens out skin tone with sheer coverage. I purchased it in Nude Beige that was a tiny bit too dark for me (Nude Beige, I’ll update this post shortly with swatches) but should work as we head deeper into Summer, as I tan easily.

As I said above I like the compact a lot. It contains a generously sized mirror as well as two compartments side by side one of which holds the powder and the other the sponge. It’s a great compact for travel as the mirror is big enough for easy to touch upos. It holds 0.32 oz of powder.
I’ve been using it for nearly two weeks and so far, I wouldn’t say I love it but I would say it is nice for a more oily skin type than my own. The powder is fairly dense but applies with a silky smooth finish. It does cling a little to my drier areas but this shouldn’t be an issue for oily skin. It isn’t a heavy powder, it feels very light and weightless and provides smooth, breathable coverage. The is sheerer coverage so, if you have a good deal of imperfections to cover it likely won’t do the job. I thought it evened out my skin tone nicely and eased dullness nicely. This is a nice light powder for natural Summer looks or to you use in conjunction with a sheer tinted moisturizer. It isn’t however, a full coverage foundation powder. The wear time was around 4 hours for me in warm weather and a touch up was required. I got about five hours in a colder environment.
Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Skin-Transforming Powder is a good pick up if you like lighter, sheerer powder foundations or if you’re looking for a Summer powder that provides natural, mattifying coverage. This isn’t a good pick for drier skin types but oily ones will enjoy the mattifying, natural finish and it should be an excellent pick for those with problematic skin.
