E.L.F. Beautifully Bare 3-in-1 Makeup Base

I packed E.L.F. Beautifully Bare 3-in-1 Makeup Base ($10) with me on vacation and boy, was my skin happy for it. E.L.F. Beautifully Bare 3-in-1 Makeup Base is a new lightweight makeup primer that promises to brighten and refine the finish of skin while helping makeup to wear longer. It’s also rather expensive at $10 for under 1 oz of product (0.96 oz) by E.L.F. standards!

But I’d totally recommend a buy if you have drier skin. I kept my makeup so, so light while on vacation. It was hot, humid, and pretty darn sticky out. My routine was a little of this base, a little Sephora Wonderful Cushion, a little of the new Lovatics by Demi Lip and Cheek Tint (which I love but more on that later), a quick lash curl, mascara, and GO!

Let’s take a look!

E.L.F. introduced the Beautifully Bare Collection for Summer 2015 and it included their bare blush formula as well as other goodies. Since that time, E.L.F. has continued to churn out new products in the line including the recent introduction of Beautifully Bare Lip Tint. I think the line is great as it focuses on bare, minimal makeup! But as with all E.L.F. products there are hits to be had and misses.

I’m happy to say and hopefully you’ll be happy to know that the E.L.F. Beautifully Bare 3-in-1 Makeup Base is not a miss. I like it! But it isn’t a formula for everyone particularly because it does contain fragrance. This has a light fresh rose scent that will likely bother a good deal of users. I didn’t mind the fragrance but it’s always worth mentioning for the sensitive users.

The formula does contain silicone but it has a creamier consistency which absorbs easily into skin. I’d liken it to my beloved Revlon Photoready Primer on some levels since it takes on the hybrid consistency of both a hydrating, creamy texture as well as a silicone-like one. Don’t worry, I experience no issues with pilling when using it on my drier skin. Mind you, the formula isn’t a dupe for Photoready but I used that formula as an example as it, too, has a hybrid formula. I felt it created a very, very smooth finish on my skin that lightly hydrated skin as well as prolonged the wear of my cushion foundation easily while blurring the appearance of the visible pores on my nose. It creates a very smooth canvas for makeup to adhere to and kept my skin looking quite fresh and gorgeous throughout the wear. I wouldn’t say it curbed shine or oil so, if you require something mattifying this isn’t it unfortunately. However, it does not create unnecessary shine or oil so, if you do have oily skin it works perfectly fine. If you have visible pores it will do a fairly good job filling and even blurring their appearance so your foundation will look smoother and more even.

I was relying heavily on fluid foundations while I was on vacation and that will likely extend to all through Summer! I think this primer works great with that formula. Fluids tend to wear away very quickly if you don’t set with powder. I felt like the primer extended the wear of fluid foundation by at least two to three hours.

It’s a bit expensive by E.L.F. standards but Beautifully Bare 3-in-1 Makeup Base is a delightful primer that creates a smooth, workable canvas for makeup to adhere to!

I think you’ll like it as much as I do.
