Maybelline Femme Fatale for Halloween 2016 Mini Rant

The Maybelline Femme Fatale for Halloween 2016 Collection is starting to launch at drugstores. This is a new repromoted display that features three Halloween looks which include The Sculpted Wonder, The Sultry Spellbinder, and The Wicked Cat.

A little ranting ahead!

I was just discussing new product launches in my Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers Halloween 2016 post. I really wish that brands would consider using these Halloween displays as a launch pad for some new, limited edition items but unfortunately, it’s a lot of permanent items that are relaunched in these collections. I think the good news is the fact more mainstream brands like Maybelline are actually doing Halloween Collections. Wet n Wild was the brand that dominated in this area but as of the last two years drugstore makeup brands like L’Oreal and Maybelline have been getting in on the game.

Sadly, there isn’t a lot to get excited about in this collection and if you’re really going hardcore with your costume a lot of this makeup is going to help achieve your look. They use these displays as a springboard for permanent products such as the recent Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Chrome and the older Maybelline Color Tattoo Concentrated Crayons.

For me, this would be a perfect opportunity to introduce some limited edition product or shade. But nope, all permanent items. Unfortunately, I saw a lot of that this past Spring, Summer, and Fall. What happened to great displays like the Maybelline Gilded in Gold Collection that feature those Shimmer Blushes. That was a great example of a seasonal collection that introduced new products as well as limited edition shades. Sadly, the drugstore world has grown stale and the releases are a lot slower than they used to be as my local Harmon’s doesn’t get collection as quickly as they once did! Hell, Maybelline Summer 2016 available online for sale before my Harmons even got it!

Maybelline Femme Fatale for Halloween 2016 gets an A for effort but a total F for the repeats and reruns :-/

I said the same thing when I saw this display. I was like, “Sweet! A new Maybelline display for Halloween and its on an endcap so it has to be awesome!” Then I walked towards it, looked at all the items and was like, “Eh, there is nothing new, sigh”. The drugstore scene is dying but that sucks because it is affordable. I can’t keep buying higher end stuff, it’s killing my wallet. I’m going to make VIB Rouge this year for the first time ever because the drugstore is a fail…

Everything is so slow at the drugstore. We had such a huge turn around for drugstore makeup the last few years and suddenly it all came to a sudden halt. Don’t get me wrong there have been have some great picks the last few months (Maybelline’s new lip paints, Physicians Formula cushion foundation, etc) but it is SOOOO slow releasing which I’m not used to at all!

Ever notice when the drugstores do their clearancing Maybelline is *never* included? If they d/c something it just disappears from shelves as opposed to being marked down like Revlon, Cover Girl, Physicians Formula…

You ladies said it! Boring, stale, slow, lame. Drugstore le collections used to be so exciting with new products and great le shades of existing favorites. I would drive around town searching for certain displays and be so excited when I found them! Now I dont even bother to keep on drugstore makeup. “LE” sigh.

You said it, Muse! I am BEYOND disgusted with the drugstore collections. A few weeks ago, I went to L’Oreal’s website and contacted Customer Service, asking when US customers could expect to see the cushion blushes, Sexy Balms, and LaPalette Glam (a palette of color eye shadows instead of the ubiquitous nudes)–all of which have been launched overseas. I got back an email, informing me that those items were for foreign markets and would not be sold in the US!!!

I find that hard to believe (the email probably came from some poor soul on a cube farm in Bangalore who usually answers questions about “where to buy” and discontinued items, and did the best s/he could with my oddball query), but to me it just speaks volumes about L’Oreal’s attitude toward its customer base. We may not be Lancome customers, but I’m sure we’re good for a few million in annual revenue.

That’s bull! Those will likely come our way at some point! Sephora does this does, they act like certain products don’t exist and within weeks it pops up on their site! So dumb. I don’t understand, actually, I’ll NEVER understand how you put someone in a position for customer care that knows nothing about a line!
