The Best Drugstore Moisturizer for Dry Skin

Finding the best drugstore moisturizer for dry skin is no easy task but I totally up for the challenge! It’s not really that hard to find brilliant skincare in the Korean drugstore world and now that Korean beauty will be available at CVS it’ll be even easier to get a good range of inexpensive skincare.

But what about brands you can find right not, easily at your local drugstore?

There’s one moisturizer I’ve purchased time and time again that I absolutely love for my drier skin. Honestly, this formula should work for a variety of skin types but I love it on my drier skin.

Nip + Fab Soften Kale Fix Moisturizer is a brilliant little moisturizer that contains kale extract which is rich in Vitamins A< C, and K as well as aloe vera and shea butter. This absorbs in flash, doesn't leave my skin greasy nor oil, wears well under makeup, and provides excellent lasting hydration throughout the day that smooths skin. I think the thing I like most about this moisturizer is the fact it provides lasting moisture without making me greasy, shiny, or oily. It's very lightweight and smooths and softens skin dramatically. I think Nip + Fab is a mix of good and over hyped products this particularly one stands our as one of their best picks! I can't rave or recommend this one enough! Do try it! Available now at amazon.com, ulta.com, and target.com.

Happy Monday Muse! I got this moisturizer based on an earlier review you did and I love it. It’s great for dry skin and does everything you mentioned in the post. I’ve moved on to their bee sting mask and it’s awesome too. Going to have to explore even more from this line. Thanks for the rec!

YAY! happy to hear it Deb! 😀 My pleasure! I have to try to the bee sting mask…!!!!!

CeraVe PM lotion is my favorite. I have some eczema/patchy skin around my mouth so my derm recommended this. I love it; it’s simultaneously light but super moisturizing and helps control my patches/flakes around my mouth!

I haven’t tried PM but I do use the daily moisturizer and it is fab! Cerave everything seems to spot on 😀

I have combo skin but I loved using the Kale Fix moisturizer in the winter.

Normally I stick to Neutrogena though (esp. for daytime moisturizer).

Based on your review I tried Garnier SkinActive Ultra-Lift Miracle Wake-Up Cream and I like it! I have sensitive skin/Rosacea and I usually use Dermadoctor’s Calm Cool & Corrected but this is a nice moisturizer to alternate with. It’s light (I don’t like heavy moisturizers) and doesn’t irritate my face or make it red. I also recently bought the new Garnier Moisture Bomb SPF 30 but haven’t tried it yet. The best part about either of these is that by the time you are done with coupons from the Sunday papers & CVS coupons they are VERY cheap.

That’s a great moisturizer! One of my go tos for warm days 😀 I couldn’t agree more, Garnier is always on sale 😀 plus coupons=DEAL!

Mornin’ Muse!! I agree with L about the CeraVe PM – it is amazingly fabulous and you can add argan or other oils to it too. It’s great stuff! I simply love the Olay Complete Sensitive spf 30 moisturizer in winter – it’s a bit too much in warmer weather, tho I can make do if I have to in summer. It’s fairly cheap, has good sunscreen, and no scent! Yay! Win-win for me!

Will have to try! I like their Skin Renewing Night Cream! That stiff is brilliant 😀 have to try the PM formula!

This is going to sound crazy, like using monistat chafing gel as primer….
I sleep in Vaseline Intensive Hand Rescue over my face. Nothing makes me smoother in the morning. Its greasy but gives me that glow and keeps my serums trapped underneath so they can do their work. And for $5 its a cheap thrill.

    • Isabella Muse

sadly not but I tend to apply my own SPF and not rely on a moisturizer’s built in sunscreen!

I’ve been using Nip and Fab No Needle Fix Serum, which is really a gel cream. It certainly isn’t my idea of a serum. Good moisture for me. (Oily/dehydrated/aged, not aging!). My Ulta has N& F in the Korean section. I thought it was an offshoot of Rodial.

I haven’t found a drugstore moisturizer that makes my super dry/flaky skin happy, and I must have tried most of them! I may give the Cerave PM a go though. I wish I could get a sample of it from somewhere, because I hate it when face moisturizers have to be relegated to a hand cream – I already have several waiting to be used on my hands hahaha.

That moisturiser sounds pretty good and I am going to check up to see if we have it here in Aus.
My favourite moisturisers vary – but I do love the Olay Regenerist with SPF 30 and the La Roche Posay line too.

I have a serious question for you Muse! How do I find the stores that have Kbeauty sections on store locators? I saw girls talking about it on Reddit but I didn’t get answers when I asked how they were searching. It might not be on the Cvs locators but it might be on one or more of the brands sites but I don’t know a lot of the brands. I wanted to find a store near me, see what they have then do my homework on what catches my eye and go from there. I don’t know to find the stores though.
