Summer Makeup Hits and Misses
Summer seems short this year. Maybe because here in New York it was late coming and almost every other day we have rain. Summer makeup collections also seemed to rush by rather quickly and I’m already over here eagerly awaiting Fall.
But we should take a look back at some of the Summer Makeup Hits and Misses now while we have a chance to remember what we loved and what we hated.
Covergirl Melting Pout Liquid Lipstick
If I had to choose a drugstore liquid lipstick I loved it would probably have to be Maybelline Jolt Intense Lip Paint but Melting Pout Liquid Lipstick isn’t too shabby! These are pigmented, long-wearing, and most importantly quite cheap! Totally worth a haul if you aren’t willing to spend the big bucks on Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick!
LOreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara
I’m a nitpick when it comes to drugstore mascara. I hate them all! But Lash Paradise did so surprise. This one gave me longer, fuller, plusher look lashes! It’s a bitch to remove but was well worth it for the fluttery lashes I got from the formula.
Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette
I had a lot of reservations about the Clay Play Face Shaping Palette as it looked like a ton of rerun shades. But I ended up loving it as some of these shades are essential to create great natural, daily looks without a ton of effort!
Hard Candy Sheer Envy Bake, Brighten & Set Loose Finishing Powder
I don’t bake but I do want a powder that sets my concealer while brightening up my eye area and Hard Candy’s very cheap new Sheer Envy Bake, Brighten & Set Loose Finishing Powder was perfect for just that. This bright yellow powder sets concealer, brightens the eye area, and diffuses darkness easily with a silky formula that didn’t cake or crease under my eyes!
LOreal Infallible Paints Eyeshadow Metallics
These metallic eyeshadows are amazing with a soft creamy textured powder that blended easily and packed on pigment! Well worth picking up!
Stila In a Firenze Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow
The Maginificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow is worth a haul no matter what but their newest shade, In a Firenze, is worth a mention as it is a stunning metallic cranberry rose that will be gorgeous for Fall looks. Sure, it released in the Summer but hey, why not look ahead to use it in the Fall right?!
Benefit Boi-ing Airbrush Concealer
If light coverage is all you need the new Benefit Boi-ing Airbrush Concealer might not disappoint but for me, well, it was kind of a miss due to lack of pigmentation and the sheerer color pay off. I liked it but it’s a miss because you can get something else in the same price range that doesn’t crease (which it did) and has more coverage!
NYX Liquid Suede Metallic Matte
NYX’s new Liquid Suede Metallic Mattes are somewhere between a Summer and a Fall release. Sadly, they failed miserably for each season as the formula isn’t metallic at all and it applied rather patchy and dry. Totally a miss! Don’t waste your money!
Tarte Lid Lock Clay Eye Base
Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette makes the hit list here but sadly Lid Lock Clay Eye Base is one for the miss list. This had a drier formula that dragged during application. I had hopes it would replace my Benefit Lemon Aid but sadly, the drier texture turned me off in a major way!
Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer
Instant Full Cover Concealer has potential but sadly a rounded applicator really mucked things up and made application go horribly wrong. This is the main reason it hit my miss list. Skip it to avoid a major migraine trying to use the damn applicator.
Revlon Ultra HD Matte Metallic Lipcolor
Dry, patchy, not very metallic and this is only three reasons to avoid Ultra HD Matte Metallic Lipcolor! There are plenty of others. Miss it!
