5 stars out of 5

I am currently obsessed with all things Carol’s Daughter Pracaxi Nectar and you should be too. Has anyone tried this yet? It’s freaking amazing. I happened upon Carol’s Daughter Pracaxi Nectar Style Control Gel recently at Target. It was sort of random as I was shopping a restock of my favorite Black Vanilla haircare and Pracaxi Nectar Style Control Gel just happened to be sitting rather lonely-like on the shelf. It was a single tube, nothing else Pracaxi Nectar related around. I feel like it was meant to be that we happened to meet up like this. It, me, an empty hair care aisle. It seemed like kismet.

I sadly couldn’t smell it when I was at Target as it had a little rip off foil on it but I’m rarely disappointed by Carol’s Daughter’s scents and I’ve said time and time again they should bring back some of their fragrances and create some new ones too. Now this doesn’t hold true for Green Supreme. That stuff needs to be tossed into the nearest trash can. I do not want my hair smelling like salad. It’s one of the only Carol’s Daughter’s hair care collections I disliked because the smell was wildly unappealing to me. It’s a fresh green scent but I just can’t see myself wanting my hair to smell like that.

But the Pracaxi Nectar? That I’d buy stock in.

Wanna know more about the history of Pracaxi Nectar?

I might just surprise you with what it smells like.

Before L’Oreal when Carol’s Daughter was at the peak of their great success they had a fragrance line. Jamaican Punch, Almond Cookie, Groove, are just a few of the scents that were included in the permanent collection when it was sold at Sephora. Thankfully enough Almond Cookie EDT is back on the Carol’s Daughter site and we still have excess to the fantastic Monoi Fragrance on HSN (if you haven’t tried it yet what are you waiting for!? It’s the perfect Summer scent!).

But I digress, let’s discuss Pracaxi Nectar and what it smells like! If you go way back, back to 2009 you might just remember the Carols Daughter Pearls Gift Set. This was available for a limited time (WHY!??!?) during Mother’s Day and it included the Pearl Perfume. According to the brand the scent included notes of jasmine, rose, violet, vanilla, and caramel but to me it smelled like Fresh Lemon Sugar. Sweet, lemony sugar! Delicious, perfect! Why it was around for a brief moment is beyond me but it is something that stuck with me and I do wish they’d bring it back but the chances are slim since the Carol’s Daughter take over. I still have a really small amount in my fragrance vault and it still smells amazing.

Why am I telling you this? Because Pracaxi Nectar smells exactly like the Pearl’s Perfume from that set. It’s rather subtle and it doesn’t last all day in my hair (none of Carol’s Daughter since L’Oreal’s take over but that’s a story for another day) but it is indeed the exact scent of that perfume and I’m happy to have it back!

After smelling the gel I quickly logged onto carolsdaughter.com and picked up a bunch of other stuff that was scented like Pracaxi Nectar but with much sadness I have to report they do NOT have a shampoo or conditioner in this scent available. I hope they redeem that at some point as I’d totally buy them!

Needless to say Pracaxi Nectar is lovely and well worth a pick up!

Wait…so are you saying it smells like Fresh’s Lemon Sugar? For hair?!?! Lol. I must have immediately. And by the way I have to think you went again for the heads up on the QVC philosophy said I just got mine today in the mail and promptly slathered myself with the fresh cream warm cashmere body soufflé and spritzed the perfume and now I just want to eat myself. And I cannot believe how large the bottles are did not really realize I guess how big they were for how cheap the price was. And then while I was writing this email the doorbell rings and my tarte sizzle palette just arrived yay. Did you ever order yours?

YUP! 🙂 but a bit more subtly scented 😀 LOL likewise! I used it today and I smell like a big cookie! It’s soooo yummy! I’m glad you got in the deal! It was a good one! I almost didn’t get it because I have so much shower gel but glad I did! I did indeed! I got it yesterday but again, haven’t cracked it open yet! I’ve been so crazy with life/work I’m a bit behind on makeup/beauty ;-D How is it?

I totally understand how busy you must get. I’ve been at home sick so I’ve nothing else to do. Haha I like the sizzle palette but eh I don’t know. It’s nothing spectacular. The case is gorgeous with all the rhinestones and their are some pretty metallic shades but I feel like I have them all already. I’ll have to play around with it a bit. There is one matte shade that doesn’t even show up on my skin at all. But there is a gorgeous pale pink I’m loving and a cranberry shade I used yesterday in the corner. Let me know what you think once you crack it open.

ugh! It’s been quite busy this month in particular! Oh no! You ok? eh I didn’t suspect as much! Tarte with the constant repeats! I surely will!!!!!!!!!!!

Carol’s Daughter is a shadow of what it was in the 1990’s and early 2000’s. They had the stores and the print catalogs. There were products for your face, body, hair, nails and feet. When you ordered straight from them. Everything was packaged in a handcrafted way. Once I ordered a custom body care gift set for a friend. I was contacted before they sent it out to make sure it was just right. I think once the celebrity investors got involved started to change for the worse. There is no way L’oreal is going to go back to how the company started.

I haven’t bought CD in years but I do miss Almond Cookie and Black Vanilla .Pracaxi Necar sounds great.

It’s a shame what L’Oreal has done to the brand 🙁 I miss Jamaican Punch! They sell the body cream on HSN but the EDT never came back 🙁 I wish it would!

Jamaican Punch was the first scent I bought from CD. I miss Cotton Candy scent . I do like Ecstasy. Did you ever try the Body Aches Bath Salts. I loved that.

Thanks for the review! I definitely want to check this scent out. I’ve been meaning to try carol’s daughter for a while since I’ve finally begun to embrace my natural texture/waves. How does it work as a control gel? I’m guessing it’s like a styling cream? Do you find it helps frizzies, doesn’t weigh hair down? Thanks! 🙂
