Milani Gilded Desires Face & Eye Palette Review & Swatches
Milani Gilded Desires Face & Eye Palette ($19.99) is new palette featuring twelve eyeshadow shades and two highlighters that launched earlier this Summer on the brand’s website and exclusively at Walmart. I had great success with the Milani Bold Obsessions and Most Loved Mattes Eyeshadow Palettes so purchasing the Gilded Desires Face & Eye Palette was a no brainer purchase for me as both of those palettes had some of the best drugstore eyeshadows I’ve ever tried. They were so buttery, soft, and and beautifully pigmented! I expected more of the same from this palette.
I had some reservations about the price on these palettes but after using them you’ll find yourself a hell of a lot concerned with the price as the quality is definitely there.
Check out my review and swatches of the Milani Gilded Desires Face & Eye Palette below!
Milani’s Gilded Desires Face & Eye Palette arrives in a gold mirrored compact with a starburst design with a generously sized mirror inside. There’s also a diagram of the shades located in the back with their names but sadly no instructions for use (I always look to those instructions for inspiration to create my look). The palette is a magnet for fingerprints sadly but can be easily wiped off and restored to its original shine.
Unlike the prior two bigger palettes Milani released the Gilded Desires Face & Eye Palette is Made in Taiwan and a little bit differently textured. The eyeshadows are way considerably softer to the touch and do kick up a lot of powder when you press into them compared to Bold Obsessions and Most Loved Mattes. They aren’t chalky nor dry so don’t let the powder kick up concern you in that aspect. However, I did feel it wasted a good deal of product due to this. The powdery kick up did translate to some fall out during application but the shades apply and blend very easily on my drier eyes and they are packed with intense pigment.
I thought the shadows were incredible. They blend so beautifully and are packed with pigment. The metallics in particular stand out because unlike many metallic eyeshadows they weren’t frosty or loaded with a ton of glitter but they did have that gorgeous metallic sheen.
The palette is divided into two looks one a work friendly look and the other a night look. I think the colors are easy enough to cross off into though and you can mix and match any of these shades to create a killer look. The shades all work and jive well together. There’s nothing I hate more than getting an eyeshadow palette and struggling to create a look. With these twelve shades I was able to create any number of looks very easily.
I wasn’t particularly a fan of the highlighters here. It was the one item that I felt wasn’t needed in the palette. I’d have embraced some blush shades if they did them but the highlighters failed to excited me. One is a pure white shade which I can’t really pull off and the other is a pretty gold. Both applied fairly smoothly and didn’t adhere to drier areas on my face but I just wasn’t all that into them. This is just a personal thing though since I don’t wear highlighter that much but the formula wasn’t an issue in the least nor were their performance issues.
All in all, the Milani Gilded Desires Face & Eye Palette contains a beautiful assortment of eyeshadows that have a really great formula. I could probably do without the highlighters here but that’s just a personal choice on my part. All in all, a really great palette that was well worth indulging in!
Milani Gilded Desires Face & Eye Palette contains twelve pigmented, easy to blend eyeshadows with a beautifully soft texture as well as two highlighters. In my experience, the palette helped me to achieve some really pretty eye looks with a formula that was packed with pigment, was easy to apply, and easy to blend. Although a little differently textured compared two Milani’s recently released eyeshadow palettes this formula was still outstanding and well worth the price!
- Soft, buttery eyeshadows packed with pigment.
- Excellent performance with easy application and blending and a formula packed with pigment.
- Eyeshadows do have some fall out.
- Eyeshadows are fairly soft and kick up a good deal of powder which results in some waste.
- A little expensive for a drugstore palette (but considerably the quality this might not be much of a con at all!).
Anyone seeking an easy to use palette with eyeshadows that work and jive well together to create a contrasting eye look easily will be right at home with this palette. The eyeshadow formula is very easy to use and is loaded with pigment, easy to apply, and blends easily. It has all the workings of a mid-range eyeshadow palette at about half the price and should provide a way to create a variety of beautiful looks!
