Urban Decay Naked Cherry All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray ($15) is new, limited edition cherry scented makeup setting spray that launched with the Naked Cherry Eyeshadow Palette and Naked Cherry Collection earlier last month.

I’m a little tiny bit surprised Urban Decay didn’t go full on out with fragrancing the entire line like cherries but I guess they felt that was a little too Too Faced for them so the only item that’s scented is this little All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray.

But for Urban Decay Naked Cherry All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray has me asking the question, WHY?!

I’m ever so grateful to Urban Decay for sending me samples of the Naked Cherry Collection including this setting spray but there’s issues I have!

I don’t normally set my makeup with a spray because I feel like I’m ruining the look I created but I have to admit I have some love for All Nighter as it does do a mighty good job of extending the wear of foundation, depowdering, and refining the look of base and color products once it sets.

However, why they thought launching a small 1 oz size that’s supposed to be cherry scented is beyond me. I think if you fall in love with it you’d want a larger size not to mention you’ll probably hate that is limited edition if you do love it.

But don’t worry, there’s really no danger in that! But I digress, first let’s chat the rip off this is. At 1 oz it’s $15 where as a 4 oz bottle is $32. Really Urban Decay!? WHY?

Secondly, let’s chat scent. This smells nothing like cherry. If anything at all it smells like medicine with a very, very faint hint of bitter cherry as the back note. Again, WHY???? I get it! You don’t want to offend people with scented makeup and you feel like subtly scenting it is a good idea. However, don’t offer it at all if you think sensitive users won’t like it (which they won’t). And for god sake, if you do scent it, make damn sure it smells nice. This just smells awful.

The good news? At least it works as well as the original but all in all the price and scent make it a skip! Just stick to purchasing the original full-size and leave this for the clearance rack.

Sorry UD!

This was a miss for me as well. But, I have a question I am so hoping you can answer. I have seen on social media as well as your website that BBW is coming out with the Hot Cocoa and Cream body products. Well, BBW released several, and I’m hoping not all if their holiday collection yesterday and no Hot Cocoa. Please let me know if you know anything?

Yes, I know this has nothing to do with setting spray.

    • Isabella Muse

It’s fine it has nothing to do with setting spray 🙂 I don’t mind off topic. BBW didn’t launch all the holiday stuff yet, that’s their early Signature preview. This is around the time they do the regular traditional scents like winter candy apple and twisted peppermint. They haven’t even released their new perfume yet (only a sample size and a fragrance mist version). As we get nearer to the Holidays they’ll start doing more launches and floor displays. I actually don’t have a date for Hot Cocoa but I imagine within the next two to three weeks we’ll see it! I know some test stores (closest test store for me is across the pond in Jersey) that have already launched it! If you have a test store around you can check there! I hope this helps a little 😀

ps I have a lot of readers who work at bbw seasonally or full time they might be able to jump in here and give us a date if they see the comment!

Thanks so so much for the info. I was truly worried it was not coming out. I am anticipating this scent for sure. Yeah, first world problems. Thanks again. Jen

My pleasure! I am def eager for it too! Also, the Body Shop has some great scents this year too! vanilla marshmallow and crushed peppermint candy! yum! 😀

I really don’t need scented setting spray (although I would totally buy the Tutti Frutti one if Too Faced ever got the bottle fixed). But in the category of “Things That Make You Go Hmmm”, have you noticed the price of Smashbox Primerizer? The travel size is $15 for 0.5 oz. The full size is $42 for 1.0 oz. Say what?!

    • Isabella Muse

How does that one smell!? I didn’t buy it and was curious! Is it watermelon? That makes no sense at all! serious mental eye roll here!

  • ha

did you notice they left out the setting spray in the new Naked Cherry vault?! makes me think it was because i haven’t seen a single influencer say something nice about it LOL. the general consensus is it smells like cherry medicine and that no one wants to be reminded of being sick while finishing their makeup. how this one ever go through testing in the labs is beyond me.

    • Isabella Muse

also the blush/highlighter palette too!! the blush palette was awful 🙁 dense as hell! I don’t get it! It feels rushed to me (the entire collection). I think they might have been forced to market early when it was leaked on Insta and maybe that’s why the formula suffered but in general, Urban Decay formula has subpar lately 🙁

  • Sydni

Oh no! I was a bit confused about the trial size being the only option as well, but I was really hoping this was going to have a delicious maraschino cherry scent. The MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ coconut scent is amazing, so we know fruit scented setting spray can be done well. I’m sad that Urban Decay didn’t pull this off. I guess it makes more sense that the rest of the line isn’t scented if it was all going to smell medicinal. 🙁

    • Isabella Muse

that I wanted so badlyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! Sadly, smells like bitter medicine! All the scented prep + prime are quite nice! the rose one was my fav ;-D Too true! No one wants a medicine scented eyeshadow palette haha!

  • Cindy

I never use setting sprays (I use powder makeup and why would I want to spray that?), but from what you describe it sounds like it stinks like Robitussin, haha!

    Hi Muse!

I use to love UD in the early 00’s but unfortunately for me, after Loreal got their hands involved especially, I’ve dipped and haven’t looked back. I have not purchased from them in at least 6-7 years. I was gifted a Naked palette some time then but returned it because the texture was awful. I love scented makeup though so what a bummer to hear. Remember their Lip Gunk and scented/flavored shimmering body powders?! I don’t know why they’re acting brand new like they don’t know how to do flavored make-up.

Also, I saw you mention that there’s a B&BW’s test store in New Jersey! Do you know what location!? Please share!

    • Isabella Muse

amen. please preach! ITA! After L’oreal it all went down hill! I’m a fan for about mmm 12 years now? And you can see how the formula has changed so dramatically since L’Oreal! Of course! I still have the body powders! LOL! Sure! Westfield Garden State Plaza Paramus, NJ <----they'll ship btw!

How funny the differences in noses. I’m either the one person who likes Cherry Nyquil on here or the one person whose setting spray smells like Cherry Candy… I don’t get any bitter vibes- so weird… LOL But otherwise, how does one determine if they have a BBW testing store locally? Hot Cocoa sounds amazing! Happy Halloween Muse and Musettes!

    • Isabella Muse

you get cherry candy?! really?! OMG I WISH! I smell weird bitter medicine 🙁 So sadddddd! Happy Halloween 😉 You can check reddit/beauty forums sometimes people keep lists of test stores! BBW doesn’t really disclose test stores but people have a way of finding out!

      • Anna M Fantasia

Wait… going back for another sniff… Yep, it’s not cherry fruit but more like a cordial candy for me with a little fizziness which I presume is the alcohol dissipating. HUH?!, I have been told I have a funny nose. I will check Reddit or just be patient because you know I don’t have enough body lotions and balms, right? I needs MORE, so I can be extra this holiday…

        • Isabella Muse

wait I’m confused…body lotions? aren’t we talking about the makeup setting spray!?

          • Anna Maria Fantasia

Sorry, I mashed up the comments. The first portion of the comment is about UD Setting Spray. Last half (Reddit half) is about the BBW Cocoa lotion. Sorry about the confusion.

I would like to try a setting spray. I hear that for dry skin it is better than a powder. Can you recommend me a setting spray but from the drug store??
