4 stars out of 5

It Cosmetics Confidence in a Gel Lotion ($36) is a new hydrating gel moisturizer that’s launching in the It Cosmetics New Year, Your Most Beautiful Skin! Collection QVC Todays Special Value for January 2019 that debuts on air this Saturday and is available now on qvc.com. As of now, Confidence in a Gel Lotion is exclusive to this set but it is now available at Ulta and Sephora!

Considering the Today’s Special Value Set contains 3 full-size items as well as a brush for $69 as well as free shipping you might want to indulge to get your hands on the moisturizer as who knows how long it’ll be before it launches at other retailers.

This is labeled review and I do have some reservations about calling it a review because I haven’t properly tested this moisturizer for that long. I was torn whether to post my thoughts so soon because I’ve taken to trying my best to reserve judgement on certain skincare for a month or longer before I review it. But considering this product actually performs and does what it says it will almost instantly I felt a little bit better about sharing my thoughts and “review”.

It deserves being mentioned I am not a fan of It Cosmetics Confidence Skincare Collection. Sadly, Confidence in a Cream, Confidence in an Eye Cream, Confidence in a Cleanser, etc..etc…just weren’t products that held any appeal. I’ve tried them all, used them, and just took nothing away from the experience. A lot of It Cosmetics skincare is very hyped up but ends up turning into a disaster due to the addition of ingredients like citrus oil. Thankfully, Confidence in a Gel Lotion does not contains citrus oil and lucky enough no strong fragrance and no fragrance at all that I detected.

One of the smartest choices It Cosmetics made with this formula was putting it into a pump jar so all the lovely stuff inside like sodium hyaluronate stays safe and sound. Confidence in a Cream has a load of nice ingredients as well but the jar packaging was an issue preventing those ingredients from staying fresh and potent.

As an It Girl or Guy I’m sure in the past you’ve noticed some of It Cosmetics products were made in Korean (like their CC Cream). Confidence in a Gel Lotion is made in the USA however, it does have a very traditional Korean skincare formula. This is a lightweight gel moisturizer that contains a good deal of water and glycerin but also dimethicone which gives it an interesting texture that turns into water as soon as it hits your skin and absorbs right away. According to the brand it provides lasting hydration and this is in fact true. It not only hydrates my very dry skin but keeps it very moist throughout the wear without being sticky, tacky, or dewy. I started using it as my daily moisturizer for the past week and it’s treated me beyond well thus far. It wears well under makeup, hasn’t broken me out, and left my skin fresh and well hydrates but not dewy nor shiny.

I really liked this one and felt like it managed to deliver excellent moisture in a lightweight formula!

It Cosmetics Confidence in a Gel Lotion is available now exclusively in the It Cosmetics New Year, Your Most Beautiful Skin! Collection QVC Todays Special Value Set.

It Cosmetics Confidence in a Gel Lotion is a new moisturizing, lightweight lotion that’s launching in the It Cosmetics New Year, Your Most Beautiful Skin! Collection QVC Todays Special Value Set which is available now at qvc.com. It is not yet available as an individual item but it is listed on It Cosmetics website with a retail price of $36 for 2.5 oz and will likely be available soon for purchase if the Today’s Special Value Set does not interest you. Unlike Confidence in a Cream, this new lotion does not focus on anti-aging benefits but more on hydration ones. It’s marketed as providing 72 hours of moisture in a lightweight gel lotion that absorbs quickly into skin without being tacky, sticky, or dewy in finish. It does contain sodium hyaluronate which is well known for retaining moisture as well as plumping skin but that is lower down the ingredient list. It does contain citrus acid but thankfully doesn’t contain the strong citrus scent that many Confidence Skincare items are known for. I really liked it and felt like it hydrated my drier skin intensely.

I’ve been going back and forth on this TSV, but hearing this might push me over the edge. I don’t have a good day moisturizer. However, I cackle like a crazy woman when I say Confidence in a Neck Cream out loud, but when another blogger said it smelled like creamsicles, I was willing to overlook the name. So thumbs up on both the creams, it seems. Yes, being at home sick for an extended amount of time has me talking to myself a bit lol. Do you like the foundation that comes in this set?

    • Isabella Muse

It’s a VERY strong orange scent for the neck cream! Sorry! How ya feeling over there 🙁 I do! I don’t like a lot of coverage and have always really liked this foundation formula from It (it isn’t new).

  • Christina

What sorcery is this? It gives you enough moisture during New York winters and it’s a gel? Do you use something else on top of it during the day?

  • Cindy

Thanks for this. I’m going back and forth as to whether or not I should get the TSV. I tried Confidence in a Cream for the face and thought it was way too heavy for me and Confidence in an eye cream made the skin around my eyes red. I tried the Illuminating CC cream SPF 50+ and for me that was a joke of a foundation, it covered nothing. The gel as you describe it sounds good because I do like lightweight gels as opposed to heavy creams. Not sure if I should get the TSV though, because in the video on the IT website it says that the foundation is “lightweight coverage” and I don’t want to waste $$ on another “clear smear” from them LOL. On the other hand, I’ve been looking for a new neck cream but if this is heavy like the original face cream I’m not sure if I’ll like it.

    • Isabella Muse

My pleasure! I’m not really a fan of the Confidence line at all! Aside from the blush! The cleanser, the eye cream, the moisturizer, just really ho-hum formulas for me! The foundation is indeed sheerer, lighter coverage! Good news though as if you didn’t get the TSV, Ulta listed the gel as coming soon!

awesome! I was waiting for your review on this before I committed to a purchase. How does this wear in conjunction with sunscreens? I’m not sure how many you have had a chance to try it with, but that seems to be the biggest hit or miss element of a moisturizer with me… How does it play with others? Thank you!

  • F1wild

Thanks for this review, especially since I’m a very dry who’s not had luck with the other Confidence items. Seems like a decent size as well.
How would you compare this to Clinique’s Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator?

    • Isabella Muse

I never used Moisture Surge 72 so not sure how they compare but probably different considering Moisture Surge is more a traditional moisturizer formula where as this is a water drop formula somewhat like an essence.

  • Adrienne

How would you say this compares to Clinique hydating jelly or are they not in the same category? I like you have not had much success with IT products. I ordered a brush and recieved some samples but nothing that would make me want to buy.

    • Isabella Muse

Mm not the same. This is a different texture and it’s a bit more hydrating as well! Clinique’s formula is thinner, less watery on contact with skin.

  • F1wild

I know you just replied about this compared to Clinique Hydrating Jelly, but what about Clinique Moisture Surge 72 hour? I need MAXIMUM hydration. I’m dry plus live in Ahwatukee, Arizona – double whammy!
I’d love recommendations for any and all your most favorite HG hydrators.
Please consider coming up with a list of your go-to favorite of all favorite skincare products. Please!

I never used Moisture Surge 72 so not sure how they compare but probably different considering Moisture Surge is more a traditional moisturizer formula where as this is a water drop formula somewhat like an essence. I’ll def try to get one up!

  • ashri

do you still use this ?
I feel like i have very similar skin to you because pretty much the things you like have been things that worked well for me and you also know to avoid irritants and jars.

    • Isabella Muse

I do! I used it through the Summer, it’s nice and lightweight! ;-D I’m glad to hear it!!!!!!
