Sometimes you just gotta deal with silicones and that’s the case with the new Bath & Body Works Hair Masks! I try to live a silicone-free hair lifestyle as I actually really like the way my hair looks and feels when I am staying away from silicones but sometimes my long, wavy hair just craves them! Most days my hair diet consists of Lush I Love Juicy Shampoo and American Cream Conditioner. But I LOVE me some Carol’s Daughter, Shea Moisture, and other heavier formulas. I think sometimes silicones can just weight my hair down just right and keep frizz at bay due the intense moisture they can provide.

So, yeah, sure, sometimes I cheat.

Recently, when Bath & Body Works Hair Masks launched I was all over them. I feel some sense of guilt for going off my silicone-free diet but man, it’s so worth it!

Bath & Body Works seems to be really hard working lately to cover all aspects of your shower and bathing experience. They have new perfume hair mists, bath bombs, peel-off facial masks, sheet masks, tons of new haircare. It seems like every time I look on their site they have some new amazing thing for your face or hair to try out.

I’ll be honest for a second here. I got to Bath & Body Works and I grab a few fragrance mists I might like, the occasional perfume they launch, and of course, candles and hand soaps. I don’t feel like I need anything else from them. I’m not really interested in a Bath & Body Works Skincare Collection nor a hair care one. They’ve always had small odds and ends in both those departments in the past but they have always been towards the back of the store and never really advertised or promoted. Nowadays, Bath and Body Works is all about coming atcha hard with these newer releases lately. I can’t say that occasionally they do capture my attention where as other times I’m simply glance and pass right over them. It really depends.

In this case, their hair masks caught my eye and at the Buy 2, Get 1 Free promo I decided to give them a whirl! Each mask is $10.50 and available in five fragrances and formulas. I picked up the nourishing, strengthening, and smoothing formulas. These are a deeper conditioning treatment that you apply after shampooing on wet, damp hair. You can leave it in from 5 to 10 minutes while you wash up or shave your legs and let it do its work. Sometimes I get wild and crazy and wet my hair, smooth some on, and tie my hair up in a towel and leave it on for 30 minutes while I clean up around the house or watch TV.

These smell very pretty and will leave a lasting fragrance behind in your hair. My masks smelled like a fresh slightly sweet bamboo, another smelled like banana, and one smelled like tropical coconut. All were very pretty and slightly sweet with a lasting, lingering scent. They aren’t for anyone that dislikes fragrance that’s for sure as they are not subtle.

The formula is thick and creamy and applies easily into my hair! It also rinses out fairly well and so far, I haven’t noticed any major buildup using them but as with most silicones at some point you’ll want to detox and rinse out build up the may leave behind. So far though, after about ten uses, I haven’t seen major build up issues. My hair seems to love them. The formula adds nice weight to my locks which means my hair looks smoother with less frizz. They also really de-tangle well and leave my hair feel hydrated since it does tend to run drier.

All in all, not too bad a gig Bath & Body Works has going on here and I’d totally buy more when I run out!

Check them out! They are available now in stores and online!

Anyone try them yet?

Between the heavy fragrance and the silicones, I have to pass. I also can’t use the DevaCurl Melt into Moisture Mask or Shea Moisture’s Manuka Honey + Yogurt Protein mask because of the intense scents. I don’t mind light scents, but if I can smell it hours later, it’s a problem. I don’t need my hair products to punch me in the face with their scents or interfere with other scented products I enjoy more.

I wanted to like the banana one I tried but it made my thick, curly hair just feel greasy and coated. It just smelled so delicious though. I wish they’d just take that banana fragrance and make it a body care line instead. I’m almost done with it but I won’t be repurchasing. It’s not awful but it’s not great. It’s just meh.
