Tarte Be You Naturally Eyeshadow Palette Just Another Rainforest of the Sea Eyeshadow Palette Right?

Oh Tarte, you silly wabbits! Sometimes you get it so right, and sometimes you get it so wrong! Along with the incredible Rainforest of the Sea Foil Finger Paint Trio Palettes, Tarte launched a new Be you. Naturally. Eyeshadow Palette which personally, is another version of the Rainforest of the Sea Eyeshadow Palette right?

I mean, we have three of them already and don’t get me wrong I liked them all but this new Be You Naturally Eyeshadow Palette just likes look another, lighter version of the original Rainforest of the Sea Eyeshadow Palette.

The palette consists of four shimmers and four mattes and the main difference here is the shades are cooler and lighter but still maintain some of the warmth we seen in the original palette! This is me saying that it’s sort of boring and uneventful.

Shrug.

I will say Tarte has been getting things pretty right lately so, this might just be a minor set back!

I don’t think I need the Tarte Be You Naturally Eyeshadow Palette.

How about you?

I got this palette in my Boxycharm box and was pretty disappointed by it! It’s not their Rainforest of the Sea (RotS) formula so all the mattes were fairly powdery and the shimmers didn’t pack a punch like the RotS formula 🙁

    • Isabella Muse

oh man that sucks! I really like the RoTS formula but I was disappointed this seemed like a lighter variation of the original palette! Sort of boring!

      • Agona

Yeah, they apparently made this for Boxycharm but then sold leftovers on their site? I have no idea but tarte has been “upcycling” old packaging lately (they did a YouTube video about it). It reduces production timelines and it’s cheaper and so they can pass on the savings to the consumer. That’s why Icy Betch had a sticker on it; they used the packaging from Energy Noir. I recently got Flawless on the Fly (from Holiday 2018) and it has a sticker on it as well because it’s the Dream Big palette recycled.

…I guess I don’t mind them doing that if it’s cheaper. Dream Big is a $30 palette but Flawless on the Fly is a $19 palette and comes with a mini mascara. Icy Beotch was only $29, compared to Energy Noir at $38. But Be Naturally You doesn’t seem cheaper than a normal RoTS palette at $38.

Also, the edges of the sticker on Icy Beotch seem to catch and I feel like it’s going to start peeling eventually, so that kind of bugs me. The sticker on the front of Flawless of the Fly seem more sturdy and set-in. So I am undecided if I like the “upcycling” practice.

They do indeed and have for years used the same style packaging on a lot of launches! My icy beotch didn’t have a sticker though, it was a face plate…?

          • Agona

You can peel off that blue holographic front! With difficulty. Don’t do it though!! I saw a couple videos on it and it makes it all ugly afterward. Doesn’t come off clean!

          • Isabella Muse

weird I’m going to check mine when I get home! I could have sworn it was a face plate! Thanks! ;-D now you got me curious! I won’t peel but just curious to see!

          • Paige

I ripped that sticker right off the Icy Betch as the second I unboxed as it it was curling and that would make a mess eventually. I used Goo Gone for the residue and now it is getting confused with Energy Noir or Noir (can’t remember which one) in my drawer (1st world makeup problems, right).

I’m super disappointed that this Be You Naturally is not great, I like the pink 4 shades half so I would have considered it but not with a known poor formulation. I am currently on the hunt for a light pink/light taupe group that is matte but isn’t chalky (that Lorac Ladies who Brunch was a mess) and that I don’t have to buy several types of and de-pot and just no one has a good one. I never want those colors but I have some business meeting times and I just need to look tidy not overly done up. Thought this looked like it, guess not!

          • Isabella Muse

I must be nuts I can’t wait to go home and check mine I could swear it wasn’t a sticker! I always feel lighter neutrals are always chalky or too frosty :-/ I wish I could find the perfect balance!

Pretty late but… I got the be you naturally palette from boxycharm… long story short, I spilled nail polish remover on it by accident, so the palette was trashed. Well today when I picked it up to throw it away and say my last goodbye, I noticed the center circle of the palette was just a sticker! I peeled it off and underneath it it says rainforest of the sea. It’s got me trippin! Lol

  • Denise

This one’s a big NOPE from me. On the other hand, their Unleashed palette is really fun and good!

  • Liz

Hope i don’t offend anyone by saying that this is the lamest thing I have ever seen. Like 4 of the shades are a glorified beige.

And this was for Boxycharm? That subscription is for beauty addicts who will have these colors a dozen times over! Talk about missing the mark. I can’t even.

        • Isabella Muse

Please! no thanks needed! Never be afraid of saying excactly what you want around here ;-D I value your opinion! Good, bad, crazy, say whatever you like 🙂 Most times, if it is negative I’m likely in the same boat and thinking the same thing haha! So we are totally on agreement with this one girl!

    • L

Yes, although I personally did not receive it in my Boxycharm, I got a face palette which was much better. I have Vol II and Vol III in the Rainforest of the Sea range and they are soooo boring. Vol II is too cool for my warm skintone and Vol III hardly shows up with medium skin. Both came in Boxycharm, both widely disliked. So I don’t know where Tarte got the idea that what Boxycharm subscribers wanted was another boring boring boring neutral palette with pale, powdery shades.

  • Brandy

This pallette looks really boring. I just got my first Tarte palette last week (Make Magic Happen because it was on sale), and I really enjoy the colors and formula. It’s the perfect palette for natural eye looks. Thanks for recommending it Muse!

    • Isabella Muse

yay! I REALLY like that palette! It’s one of my keepers! I’m glad to hear you like it! This one though, it’s a meh for me too!

  • Nicole Webster

Scratch off the stickers.. that’s legitimately what it is.
