Ulta Cleansing Balm Looks and Feels Like Candle Wax But Melts Down Like a Dream
Ulta Cleansing Balm ($12) is a new cleansing balm that launched about a week or so on Ulta’s website. I don’t really need a new cleansing balm as I have a slew in rotation but really, I had to see what Ulta cooked up with this formula and quickly grabbed it up!
It’s currently on sale for $9 too which makes it a pretty sweet deal.
Ulta Cleansing Balm arrives in a chubby tube that holds 3 oz of product and it’ll set you back $12 bucks but you’ll likely never pay the full amount as you can apply coupons to Ulta’s house brand plus they always have BOGO sales on their line.
If you’re comparing it to other budget brands the price is a little expensive as the new Pond’s Cleansing Balm is 3.38 oz in size for $10 and Yes to Coconut Coconut Oil Cleansing Balm is $10.99 for 4 oz. It is however, heaps cheaper than Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm and Farmacy Beauty Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm, etc..!
This did ship to me just when Summer decided to arrive in New York. It’s been fairly warm and hot however, I was pleased that it didn’t melt and all was well with it. However, when I opened it I was concerned it did indeed melt and re-solidified. But I’m not sure that happened. Here’s why.
The main entrance of my house has two doors. The first opens into a tiny foyer/hallway and the second opens to the porch. I have a Ring Camera set up and my UPS man typically knows to ring the bell and I can automatically open the door for him from my Iphone when I’m not home so he can leave my package in the foyer/hall without actually entering my house. I normally only use this method in the Summer as if I’m away for the weekend, upstate, traveling, or it’s just really hot out and I’m getting a makeup package I ask that he ring the bell so I can unlock the door for him to leave the package. The hallway is cool so, that’s why I don’t think it melted down and re-solidified. However, during the travel to me maybe it did?
I’m mentioning all this because the texture was a bit weird. I’m curious if that’s the normal texture or just because it melted a bit. It reminded me of candle wax! It was sort of dense and waxy feeling. It was off putting because I was convinced this was going to be an Equate Wipe the Day Away Cleansing Balm experience! As you might recall that was a hot, nasty mess!
But guess what? All turned out great!
Even though the texture is a little weird once it hit my face it melted almost instantly! I was quite impressed at how fast it melted down and how easy it was to massage into my face. I was also very impressed how quickly it rinses off my face. Once water is applied it emulsifies really quickly and rinses clean away! It also didn’t leave me with cloudy vision! It has a subtle citrus scent so, if you’re sensitive keep that in mind. Speaking of sensitive users, just a note, I notice a very little sting when I used it around my eyes. It wasn’t terrible but it is worth mentioning just in case if you have super sensitive eyes.
Overall, Ulta Cleansing Balm may look and feel like candlewax but it melts down like a dream and whisks away makeup without leaving my skin dry or tight!
I like it! A lot! Well worth checking out.

Where to buy
Ulta Cleansing Balm is a new, affordable solid cleanser that recently launched online. This is 3 oz in size and priced at $12. This is a solid solid cleanser that has the texture of candle wax which was a little weird for me because I’m used to cleansing balms that are softer with more of sorbet-like consistency. But this did melt down quickly when applied to skin and was easy to massage on! It emulsifies really quickly and it didn’t leave me tight or dry after use. The texture is a little weird but it worked out well and removed my makeup easily!
