The best money I spent this Summer was on Melt Cosmetics Genesis Digital Dust Highlighter ($39). Don’t even read this review just head over to sephora.com and buy this! Later you can thank me and tell me how much you love it.

Seriously though, this is probably one of my best loved products of the moment. It’s a stunning, gorgeous, beautiful highlighter slash blush that gives my cheeks the most perfect luminous peachy glow. Since Spring I’ve been searching out luminous blushes! I was pretty determined to find a pretty glowing blush that I loved as much as MAC Sweet Vision Magic Dust (hi, that’s me down in that photo wearing it Sweet Vision). I actually haven’t found anything quote like that long gone and most beloved Sweet Vision shade (don’t worry I have a backup hoarded away but still I’d love to see it relaunched!).

Until now!

Melt Cosmetics Genesis Digital Dust Highlighter isn’t MAC Sweet Vision but it’s just as delightful! Sadly, it doesn’t work as

I’m always a little wary when picking up a new highlighter. I have hopes they’ll work as a blush but most times they apply sheerer than a blush and end up a bit too frosty. Melt Cosmetics Genesis Digital Dust Highlighter successfully acts as both a blush and a highlighter and isn’t frosty at all! Housed in a heavy rounded black compact with a generously sized mirror this weights in at 0.28 oz of highlighter for $39. If for some reason Genesis doesn’t thrill you there are a range of seven total shades in the Digital Dust Highlighter Collection.

But seriously, how can it not thrill you?

It’s a gorgeous golden peach! It pulls a little tiny bit orange-y peach on me but none the less it is beyond perfect to me! It’s shimmery yes but not frosty and it doesn’t cling to drier areas. The finish is very smooth with a luminous glow and it’s pigmented enough to act as a blush which is how I’ve been using it!

The powder is firm and isn’t powdery which is fantastic for people like me that have a heavier hand. The firmness of the powder doesn’t hinder my brush from picking up color just fine. It applies and blends easily. You can go very light with application or a bit heavier should you desire. The wear is great too as the glow and color lasted for a solid eight hours.

I feel like I find too few blushes that provide a nice glow that doesn’t look frosty or clings to my drier areas so I get terribly excited when I run across such beautiful shades like this. I can’t recommend a purchase enough and do give it a Muse Approval. Not to mention with 20% or 15% off this week at Sephora for Rouge and VIBs it’s a perfect time to grab it.

Melt Cosmetics Genesis Digital Dust Highlight is available now.

I’m sure Jesse approves as well! Come on, did you really think I wasn’t going to throw some Jesse Custer joke in here? I couldn’t resist!

Where to buy

Sephora

Melt Cosmetics Genesis Digital Dust Highlighter is a new, permanent shade that launched for Summer 2019. The highlighter is $39 and 0.35 oz in size and arrives in a solid black slightly rounded black compact with a mirror. This formula is firm to the touch but I had no problems picking up color. It has a smooth, silky texture that applies and blends flawlessly without adhering to the natural surface of the skin or drier areas. It’s pigmented to work as a blush or a highlighter and has a luminous glow finish that wasn’t frosty. The color is gorgeous! It’s a beautiful golden peach with a bit of orange!

Pros

  • Stunning color!
  • Smooth, easy application.
  • Pigmented and long-wearing!
  • Works as a highlighter or a blush.

Cons

  • No cons.

I’ve been reading your blog for years and years and never commented! In college reading your posts inspired me to get into makeup, I had to comment to let to know how much I appreciate that you have always been about having fun with makeup and avoided succumbing to the standard of today’s “influencers”. When clients are talking my ear off at my counter about the latest YouTuber I always recommend they check your page for authentic reviews and consistency. Thank you and keep it up!
