4 stars out of 5

Fenty Beauty Poutsicle Juicy Satin Lipstick went on sale late this Summer for $14 each. I actually purchased two when they launched at $20 each so, yeah, I’m kicking myself over it. Isn’t it amazing how quickly makeup goes on sale lately? I remember a time makeup was NEVER on sale. Seriously, sales were really rare! The Cosmetics Company Store was the most amazing place in the world back in the day because it was like one of the few places you could get really great deals on makeup and fragrance.

Nowadays, makeup comes out full-price and within weeks of the launch it’s offered at amazing discounts. I don’t really have the novelty of waiting long enough for something to go on sale though because with this blog I’m expected to review and swatch stuff way BEFORE the sale actually happens. Also, I’m an instant gratification kind of girl with a sometimes bad case of FOMO that I try not to give into!

Anyway, Fenty Beauty Poutsicle Juicy Satin Lipstick got pushed back in my review pile but I recently hauled on Blazing Orange and at the time it was an ideal shade for Summer but you know what? It works just as wonderfully for Fall looks too!

Fenty Beauty Poutsicle Juicy Satin Lipstick arrives in a colorful barrel that reflects the gorgeous orange shade inside. The lipsticks are limited edition and launched with the Fenty Beauty Summer 2019 Collection. The original price was $20 for 0.1 oz of lipstick but are now available on clearance for $14. I’d say don’t be shy grabbing one or two shades as the stock should very fresh considering these launched a few short months ago.

They are marketed as a satin lipstick with a juicy finish. To me, juicy translates a subtle, pretty shine. The finish is slightly tacky and the formula is creamy yet balmy but it feels lightly hydrating on my lips without being slippery. I think that added tackiness helps the color to last well without migrating for five plus hours. The texture feels more balm-like than lipstick but the color payoff excellent with the opacity one would never get from a mere lip balm formula. One thing to note is the color sort of drags and applies patchy so going over the initial application is recommended for the smoothest most even finish. The lipstick does have a subtle sweet vanilla flavor and fragrance that reminds me of MAC Lipglass.

The shade I wanted to discuss here was Blazing Orange. It’s such a lovely warm, pop of orange that reminds me of the falling leaves. Orange is one of those shades that I crave for both Summer looks and Fall ones and this is a rather delightful shade I’ll use for both seasons!

Where to buy

Sephora

Fenty Beauty Poutsicle Juicy Satin Lipstick in Blazing Orange is a vibrant, medium warm orange that I’d say borderlines on neon! It’s very pretty and perfect for Fall or Summer looks. It’s currently on sale for $14 and holds 0.1 oz of product. This has a light, balmy texture that feels lightly moisturizing on lips. I’d go so far as to call a lip balm but the pigment is that of a lipstick. Initially I find it applies a bit patchy and uneven but going over it will produce smoother more even results. It has a light vanilla flavor and fragrance and wears for five plus hours without migrating or moving.

Pros

  • Subtle shine finish.
  • Comfortable formula that feels like a balm but has the pigment of a lipstick.
  • Wears long thanks to a lightly tacky formula that clings to lips!

Cons

  • Needs at least two layers to look smooth and even as the initial layer can be a little patchy.

Who

Fenty Beauty Poutsicle Juicy Satin Lipstick is a great pick for anyone tired of the same o’ same o matte lipsticks. This formula has a balm-like texture with a hint of shine that wears quite comfortably.

Its definitely a sign of the economy. Makeup never used to go on sale. I used to work 2 jobs up until 3 months ago and I have a college degree. $36,000 a year doesn’t buy much when u are a makeup and fabric hoarder. People always ask, “why do u have a 2nd job?” One pays for bills and food, the 2nd job is my fun money. Seriously feeling it. Just got 2 tickets within the last month for $195, not stopping all the way at a stop sign in a school zone!
