4 stars out of 5

Smashbox Planetary Cheek Palette from the Holiday 2019 Cosmic Celebration Collection is a new, limited edition cheek palette that contains two baked highlighters and one blush. I picked this up early last month at Ulta and it’s quickly become by go to cheek palette of choice the last few weeks!

I love a good blush palette but I’m not a big highlighter person as you know. I love my Becca Highlighters but I’m not really into many others. I was tempted by the Cosmic Celebration Planetary Cheek Palette because of the blush shade. I know really smart and logical purchase decisions I’m making over here by buying a palette just because I liked one shade. Don’t lie though! Betcha done the same thing at least once in your life right?

The Smashbox Cosmic Celebration Planetary Cheek Palette is a lot smaller than I thought but I love the packaging. it comes in a cute pink and orange ombre rectangle compact with little scribbled stars on the front and the words “Shine Like the Star You Are” printed on it. Inside is a mirror and the three powders that are 0.05 oz each for a total of 0.15 oz of product for $29. Since it’s so tiny I played with the ideal of getting another one since I liked the shades so much but held off as I have a lot of blush in my stash. These gave me a little Laura Geller Blush-n-Brighten vibes! I do love a good baked blush! Most people hate baked makeup but I’m a big fan! I miss Bourjous Paris Blushes with a passion!

Anyway…!

You get two highlighters here and one blush. Heart & Solar is probably my favorite highlighter shade in the palette. It’s a brassy gold with swirls of warm bronze and it pairs up nicely with the pretty light coral pink of the blush shade called Plant Out. The two shades swirled together is what I’m wearing in my look for this review. Sugar & Space is the other highlighter shade which is contains swirls of shimmery lighter peach, rose, and white.

Smashbox Cosmic Celebration Planetary Cheek Palette Swatches (Heart & Soul, Planet Out, Sugar & Spice)

These shades swatch rather poorly and have very little pigment as you can see. They also have a a chunkier, shimmery feel to them that isn’t evident during application. I think they apply, blend, and build beautifully. They may lack pigment but for those of us with heavier hands you’ll find they build really easily for a very pretty natural luminosity. I think the palette might be easily overlooked if you’re testing it out in store because the shades apply so very poorly on my wrist but look so beautiful on my face. So, don’t write this one off! It’s beautiful and I love how it brightens up my complexion.

All in all, the Smashbox Cosmic Celebration Planetary Cheek Palette is a lovely little palette that’s well worth a look at if you like a more natural looking flush!

Smashbox Cosmic Celebration Planetary Cheek Palette is available now at Ulta.

Where to buy

Ulta Smashbox

Smashbox Cosmic Celebration Planetary Cheek Palette is a new, limited edition Holiday 2019 face palette that includes one blush and two highlighter shades. Both the blush and highlighters in this palette are sheer with a chunkier, shimmery feel but they apply, blend, and build beautifully. These produce a more natural luminosity but it was quite gorgeous and long-wearing!

Pros

  • Affordable.
  • Natural looking.
  • Applies and blends easily.

Cons

  • Sheerer but buildable.
  • Feels a little gritty during swatching but not evident during application.
  • Small sizes.

Agreed! While I almost passed it up based on the in-store peek, I am so happy that I picked this one up! It’s just so pretty on, and wears beautifully!

It’s weird isn’t it? I’m glad I purchased it online because if I tried it in store I’d have left it very easily. It just swatches really poorly! But it applies so lovely ;-D

Totally LG, thought the same thing. The right one is superb in pan. NMC for the swatches, but looks fab on you. Nars blush palette (basically my drug of choice) is not a go, either. $ saved.

Love the eye look! Blushes look better than what I had expected. I’m very fair so I think these would work with my skin tone. Honestly with all of the launches going on, I will probably wait for a sale.
