Paris Hilton Ruby Rush Is All About Sweet Vanilla and Cherry Notes
The first time I went to Japan during Cherry Blossom Season I expected to smell cherries in the air. I knew what cherry blossoms smelled like but I thought being in the vicinity of so many blooming trees that I would get some hint of the tart sweetness of a cherry. Sadly, it didn’t happen. It was a very green scent and if you got close enough to bury your nose in the blooms you’d get a little bit of amaretto but cherry was not to be had.
But every year, when Winter turns to Spring and the cherry blossoms begin to bloom I think of the fruit and not the blossom. The note of cherry just evokes good memories of Japan in my mind’s eye even though it’s not a spot on scent memory. This led to my recent purchase of Paris Hilt Ruby Rush Perfume.
Judge me if you must but I purchased it instant and it was on sale at macys.com ($59 using code OWNIT)! And of course, I couldn’t resist a sale! But also, I need to give Paris some props. Her fragrances are actually really good and for a long time when I was being a complete celeb fragrance snob she was one of the few that I allowed into my collection. What can I say? Paris does good fragrances.
The new Paris Hilton Ruby Rush is all about juicy cherries, whipped cream, vanilla, and delicious fruity elements with softer florals that make it a yummy gourmand. I always feel like cherry is a very difficult note to find in fragrances and it’s one I adore. So, whenever a new cherry scent comes out it’s an insta-purchase for me. Speaking of cherry, I’m happy to report Escada Cherry In Japan is available for Spring 2022 (not sure if it smells anything like Cherries in the Air but one can hope so).
My last cherry fragrance purchase was Escada’s Candy Love last year (which is now on sale at Nordstrom Rack). See>? Cherry fragrances are sort of far and between and rare.
Paris Hilton Ruby Rush Perfume isn’t the first Rush Fragrance. Paris has a few different Rush fragrances under her belt at the moment such as Pink Rush, Rose Rush, etc…! The bottles remind me of my cursed addiction to Jean Paul Gaultier and they definitely evoke the Pokemon gotta catch them all disease in me.
Each bottle is shaped like a woman’s figure in a strapless gown. I think my favorite is probably the Rose Rush bottle which has a glittery skirt. Ruby Rush’s bottle has a rose gold cap which makes up the top half of the gown and the bottom part is a metallic red. It’s quite pretty.
The fragrance has top notes of cherry, hibiscus, and whipped cream with middle notes of raspberry blossoms, red dahlia, and waterlily and the base is vanilla, fluffy musks and sandalwood. If you’re wondering if it reminds me of Escada Candy Love I’d say yes it does as the initial cherry and whipped cream notes are quite similar. That first blast is a beautiful whipped cream topped by sweet, juicy cherries. I’m not talking cheap whipped cream I’m talking thick, luscious whipped cream that specialty ice cream stores use or if you’re lucky you get on your Pumpkin Spice Latte at your favorite indie coffee shop in the Fall. It’s decadent! Rich, creamy, hints of vanilla, perfection. But it’s not all whipped cream! That whipped cream has a shot of juicy, tart cherry! That note is very sweet and plays so well with the whipped cream. It’s syrupy and scrumptious!
As the scent dries down you’ll catch a bit of the raspberry blossom and even the hibiscus which is supposed to be at the top of the fragrance notes but comes out to play further into the dry down. Within 30 or so minutes the scent settles and loses some of the initial sweetness and warms up with vanilla and musk with a touch of sandalwood. The cherries are still very much in the background at this point but not as sweet. I still get that syrupy element even within a few hours of the wear. The silage on this is incredible as you can feel it swirling around you and wrapping you in such a beautiful gourmand cloud. It’s fruity, lightly floral, and quite playful throughout the wear. The wear is excellent on me and I didn’t feel the need to touch up or felt like it was fading at all as the day progressed.
All in all, a perfect fruity gourmand that’s ideal for the upcoming Spring weather!
I loved this one and I’m so glad I grabbed it up!
Paris Hilton Ruby Rush is definitely one for the sweet, fruity, and cherry gourmand lovers out there.
