5 stars out of 5

E.L.F. Holy Hydration Lip Mask ($7/0.15 oz) is a new hydrating lip mask that contains a mix of squalane, castor seed oil and Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate and sooth dry lips. You can use this overnight or over your favorite lip masks to keep lips smooth and well-hydrated.

I’m personally not a fan of the Holy Hydration! Skincare Collection! I’ve tried a lot of it but much of it failed to excite me! I really wanted to love the line, but it wasn’t for me. Even the Makeup Melting Cleansing Balm was meh.

That being said, I decided to give the lip mask a try! I have pretty dry lips and I’m addicted to sleep masks! Anytime Laneige releases a new flavor of their Lip Sleeping Mask I’m the first to snag it.

Since this wasn’t an actual skincare product going on my face I felt ok about purchasing the new Holy Hydration Lip Mask! What could go wrong with a lip mask? Nothing. Nothing went wrong. We finally have a winner in the Holy Hydration! Collection! E.L.F. Holy Hydration! Lip Mask gets a big yay from me!

E.L.F. Holy Hydration! Lip Mask is $7 and 0.15 oz in size which makes it a nice little budget option compared to Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask at $24. Although, you do get a more significant amount with Laneige’s at 0.70 oz. I’m not too bother by the size though as in my experience, you have to treat E.L.F.’s “open and use by dates” as law because their products tend to go off in a short time and this one is marked as being good for six months after opening. I’ll use it before that at the small size plus as someone who chronically applies lip products I’m good to go. Not to mention it’s a leave-on formula that you can use either overnight or during the day on bare lips or over your favorite lipsticks. At the moment it’s available in one flavor/scent which is a fresh berry but I’m sure they’ll do seasonal flavors if this becomes a hit which I suspect it will as the formula, dare I say it, is better than my beloved Laneige.

This comes in a tiny little twist to open jar and includes a spatula that allows you to scoop a bit out. The applicator slash spatula isn’t anything like the really cool Laneige one which allows you to scoop and apply onto lips. This is just a standard spatula! You can definitely apply it directly onto your lips using the spatula but it’s a tiny bit messy doing so. Laneige’s version has a bit of a point and it’s flexible as well making it easier to use as an applicator and a scoop/spatula. That being said, I still appreciated the fact they included one!

The only bad thing I have to say about this product is I didn’t like the way it tasted. Laneige is always a little disappointing flavor-wise. They create all these fun flavors, but they’re really light in the flavor department. In the case of the Holy Hydration! Lip Mask the berry flavor is there but it’s overridden but some sort of weird beer-like taste.

Aside from the flavor, everything is a go with this formula. It’s a tad but thicker than Laneige’s formula but the texture is still a soft, sorbert-like vaseline that applies easily onto lips and leaves a nice, shiny finish should you wish to wear it out and about and like a glossy lip look. It’s very soothing, very, very hydrating, and leaves lips feeling soft, smooth, and very moist. I tend to not sleep with a lip mask but I will wear one at night before bed while we watch TV or I’m doing stuff around the house. I like the option of also, wearing it during the day as I’ve always done so with Laneige’s version anyway! We went skiing for New Year’s break and my Laneige came along for the ride and I wore it all throughout the holiday. I wish I had this available at the time as it would have bee great for my chapped, dry lips!

E.L.F. Holy Hydration! Lip Mask gets a thumbs-up from me. I’d definitely work a little on the flavor as I’m not too keen on it but overall, this is a fine offering for lips that need a lot of moisture!

Target Ulta ELF

E.L.F. Holy Hydration! Lip Mask is a new and permanent moisturizing lip mask that can be used in the day or evening to smooth and moisturize lips! This is a small $7 mask that weighs in at 0.15 oz in size. The formula is a lot like Laneige’s version but it’s a little thicker and the spatula it comes with isn’t nearly as good as the one Laneige puts in with their own lip mask! I actually liked it a lot and thought it was a great product and perhaps even a little more hydrating than Laneige’s formula! It was comfortable to wear, provided a ton of shine, and made my lips super soft. The only issue I had with it was the flavor which is a weird berry beer-like taste! I wasn’t impressed with the flavor but the formula was great!
