NYX Fat Oil Lip Drip Lipgloss ($9) is a new high-shine lip oil available in eight shades that contains squalane and provides lips with up to 12 hours of hydration. This new formula provides a hint of color, plenty of shine, and moisture according to the brand. I was the boring one though and got a clear version because I wanted to use it on top of lipstick.

Here’s my review and thoughts on the new NYX Fat Oil Lip Drip Lip Gloss.

Dior Lip Glow Oil. As far as I’m concerned everyone is trying to capture the social media buzz surrounding Dior’s Lip Oil. It’s one of the Tiktok Beauty Community’s favorite products to shill and brands are definitely trying to grab that glory for themselves. That being said, lip oils have been coming back every Spring since Milani introduced Moisture Lock Oil Infused Lip Treatment back in 2016. Lip oils just seem to be a Spring trend that comes back year after year! Stila has a new Heaven’s Dew Gel Lip Oil as well so they are right on time with that launch!

NYX Fat Oil Lip Drip Lip Gloss is a bit frustrating due to the very large applicator it comes with. I could love this formula and we could live happily ever after together but the applicator keeps coming between us. I don’t mind a larger applicator! I prefer it to be honest but this one just does not saturate well with product which results in a very dry, barely-there application. The key to success is to pump the wand in and out of the barrel several times to get the sponge tip saturated with the lip oil. It’s annoying and a bit frustrating but if you do this you’ll find the application is much, much better.

The formula is thick, and sticky, and feels almost honey-like in texture. I thought the stickiness would bother me but I didn’t mind! It wears comfortably and feels almost balmy on my lips. It does deliver on the shine for sure. My lips looked fuller and shiny after application. I didn’t notice a fragrance or flavor in the clear version I got but apparently, these do have both! I guess I just lucked out with the clear shade I got not having any fragrance or flavor. I thought this formula kept my lips pleasantly moist during the wear and I appreciated the amazing shine however, they do wear for a pretty short time at around two hours.

I have a lot of lip oils and I gotta say most just remind me of lip glosses. When I think oil I think OIL as in face oil. I always expect lip oils to have a thinner, serum-like consistency that feels a bit oily. In reality, they are just glorified lipgloss formulas and Fat Oil Lip Drip Lipgloss is exactly that with a little “oil” dropped into the name which allows it to cover itself as a lipgloss/lip oil hybrid of sorts. But in the end, this is just a very thick, shiny lipgloss!

NYX Fat Oil Lip Drip Lip Gloss is a very nice formula I just wish the applicator was a bit better saturating with the oil. But aside from this little fault the formula is pretty incredible and kept my lips soft and shiny. I’ll definitely pick up another shade or two as I’m curious about how the tinted ones look!

Where to buy

Ulta NYX Target

NYX Fat Oil Lip Drip Lip Gloss is a new lipgloss infused with raspberry oil, cloudberry oil, and vegan squalene. The gloss is available in eight shade selections that are 0.16 oz each and $9 in price. I got the clear version and didn’t detect a scent or a flavor however, I’ve read reviews stating there was (I may have just got lucky with the clear one)! The formula is thick, pretty sticky, and feels almost balm-y on my lips with plenty of shine. They do promise 12-hour wear but I got about 2 hours before the gloss faded away. I thought the applicator was a bit frustrating. Although larger in size it was difficult getting it saturated with product and I have to pump it in and out of the barrel several times to get the product onto the sponge.

Pros

  • Very shiny.
  • Sticky but wears comfortably and provides nice moisture.

Cons

  • Smaller shade range.
  • Frustrating applicator that doesn’t saturate well with the gloss.
  • Short wear.

Who

NYX Fat Oil Lip Drip Lip Gloss is great for anyone that loves thicker, shinier lipglosses.

This reminds me of a $5 “Dior lip oil” dupe I bought from Amazon, and when I say dupe I mean down to the packaging and even the punctuation in the text on the packaging.

But it isn’t a lip oil. It’s a gloss. It’s supposed to be transparent, but it is a opaque gloss. Very sheer on the lips, but not oil at all.

At this point, unless it’s actually oil then it’s just false marketing.

ooo yeah! I know that one! It’s all over Tiktok! I didn’t try it as I find myself spending $$ on stuff I don’t need because tiktok convinces me this is the best thing ever when in reality it isn’t haha! So I avoided.
