4 stars out of 5

E.L.F. Halo Glow Blush Beauty Wand ($9) is a new glowing liquid blush that launched in four shades for Spring/Summer 2023. Everyone is going quite mad over these and promoting them as a dupe of Charlotte Tilbury’s popular Beauty Highlighter Wand. Keep in mind that E.L.F. went the extra mile and released these Halo Glow wands in not only a blush formula but also, in a Contour/Bronzer and Highlighter option. And I’m pretty sure at some point we’ll have a matte version a la Charlotte’s Matte Beauty Blush Wands.

I personally only purchased the four shades of the Halo Glow Blush Beauty Wand. I wasn’t interested in the highlighter or the contour options. I do already own three of the Charlotte Tilbury versions and I feel confident saying they are more pigmented and a bit more metallic. Yes, the packaging is similar and the consistency and texture are a lot alike but Charlotte’s version have a bit more of a metallic sheen and pigment to them. I think it’s ok to say that not everything is a dupe for everything else. I’ve only seen on the review so far that says the same thing as I do as most reviews are saying they are 100% a dupe for Charlotte Tilbury. I respectfully disagree.

I will say they are cheaper and a nice option to have around because really Charlotte’s version is pretty crazy price-wise. That being said, this concept isn’t new as a few other budget brands have been doing these wands as well like Flower Beauty released Spotlight Liquid Highlighter and Bronzer and Hard Candy has Face Off Luminous Liquid Blush (which is great btw!).

Ok, so, don’t hate me but my main beef with this product is the finish. I REALLY, REALLY wanted more luminosity and glow from them. That’s why I feel like Charlotte’s version is so much nicer. I just wasn’t getting the glow I thought I would. That being said, they are very nice. The glow isn’t intense but they do have a nice luminous sheen on cheeks just a subtle one! I wanted a bit more pop!

E.L.F. Halo Glow Blush Beauty Wand Swatches (Magic Hour, Candelit, Rose You Slay, and Berry Radiant)

This packaging is brilliant. Each blush comes in a squeeze tube with an attached puff applicator. I LOVE the squeeze tube. No clicking, no twisting, just squeezing. This ensures you’ll get every drop out too! The tubes are 0.33 oz and $9 each versus Charlotte’s version which is 0.41 oz at $42. Just be very gentle when you’re squeezing as they do have a very fast flow and you can easily get too much on the sponge making for messy application and waste. You can apply these directly on your face with the applicator and blend them with your fingers or you can dab some on the back of your hand and swirl a fiber brush in them and apply them like that. I found it easier to use a dab on and blend with my fingers. The consistency of this formula is a creamy gel. I heard some complaints they dry too quickly but I didn’t have an issue at all with that. They apply and blend easily and set to a nice smooth finish that didn’t adhere to drier areas on my cheeks. Out of the four shades I ordered the only one that didn’t work out for me and was super light was Candelit. The others had plenty of pigment. Just a note but these look even more awesome if you have some sort of serum blush like EM Color Drops hanging around or even a cheek stain! I’ll apply the Glow Blush and dab a little cheek stain or the Color Drops on top for a bit more pop!

Wearing Berry Radiant

Wearing Candlelit

Wearing Magic Hour

I will say I wish the color range was better. I think Rose You Slay and Berry Radiant are nice, solid blush shades. But Candlit felt more like a highlighter to me and Magic Hour was a bit too much of a bronzy gold and didn’t work great as a blush. I’d love a nicer range of golden peaches, perhaps some more roses and pinks…I just don’t think a brassy kind of gold and a lighter peach make for great blushes.

E.L.F. Halo Glow Blush Beauty Wand is quite nice but they aren’t exactly the formula you may be looking for to replace the more expensive option out there they are a nice little budget blush.

Have you tried them? Do you love them? Do share!

Where to buy

ELF Ulta

E.L.F. Halo Glow Blush Beauty Wand is a new luminous blush collection that was recently launched for Spring/Summer 2023 in four shades. These blushes are available in squeeze tubes with a puff applicator and each one is $9 and 0.33 oz in size. These are a very obvious nod to the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Highlighter Wands but I feel like Charlotte’s version are more pigmented and metallic. That’s in fact what was sad about these! I wanted more glow and luminosity from them! But they were however, still a very nice formula. The texture is a thicker gel-like consistency that applies and blends easily. I thought dab and blending with my fingers worked best but you can of course dab some on your hand and swirl a brush into the blush and apply that way! I heard some talk about the formula drying down quickly but I didn’t have a problem at all! They blended very easily and I had plenty of time to do so before they set. They wear for about six and a half hours and fade a bit around that mark.

Pros

  • Pigmented.
  • Affordable.
  • Easy to apply.

Cons

  • Wish there were more friendly colors in this range!
  • Not as glowy or metallic as you may think!
