Trader Joe’s Brazil Nut Body Wash Review

4 stars out of 5

Trader Joe’s Brazil Nut Body Wash is here for Summer 2023 but how long it’ll be around is anyone’s guess. As you know last year, Trader Joe’s released a hard to get your hands on Brazil Nut Body Glow Set that included not only the popular Brazil Nut Body Scrub and Body Butter but also, a Brazil Nut Body Wash and Body Mist. Now, sadly, the body mist hasn’t made it into the Brazil Nut Collection (maybe next year) but this year, we did get a full-size Brazil Nut Body Wash release! It joins the popular scrub and body lotion along with a new Salted Caramel + Pistachio Candle (and an insulated bag celebrating this collection).

As soon as the West Coast started talking about the new Trader Joe’s Brazil Nut Body Wash hitting their shelves I immediately called my local TJs for an ETA. I was told that they’d be putting up a display that weekend. Of course, I immediately headed over there on Saturday morning and was greeted with a massive display of scrubs, body butters, and the new body wash!

I can speak from experience that the display was annihilated in a single weekend. I went Saturday and was pleasantly surprised they got so much as last year finding the Body Glow Set was very challenging but TJ was prepared this year and had plenty of the body wash and other goodies to go around. However, I forgot to buy baby carrots on Saturday in my haste to get some quickie shopping done that morning. I went back on Monday to grab the carrots and the display had about 12 body washes left and nearly half the scrubs and butters were wiped out. Since I’ve gone back the display is now gone and they have some scrubs and butters in the beauty section but the body washes are gone. Keep checking out stores because I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to find it in stock somewhere.

I got two bottles and they set me back $5.99 each. They are 16 oz in size which is quite a nice size for that price. I already have a little stock pile of the body butter and scrub so, I skipped out on buying more (there’s always next year for a restock!).

Of course, the scent is what has people going ape sh1t over this. Everyone compares it to Sol de Janeiro’s popular Cheirosa ’62. It’s always promoting hard as a dupe but I think it does miss some of the warmth the original scent has. Trader Joe’s scent seems a little fainter and lacks the complexity, warmth, and strength of Cheirosa ’62. Don’t get me wrong, it smells a lot like it but with a little something missing. I think for me it’s probably the tropical vanilla it misses on. But outside of that, this is still a very tropical, yummy scent for Summer.

This is formulated with seed oil, coconut oil, and shea butter giving it a nice moisturizing base. It creates a nice, light lather but the scent, as I said above, isn’t as strong as the original Sol de Janeiro Brazilian 4 Play Moisturizing Shower Cream-Gel which is much, much more heavily scented. I layered up by using the scrub and body lotion to create a nice scent bubble. It was a nice little Summer treat to use all three products together! I completed it all by misting myself with a bit of Brazilian Crush Cheirosa ’62 Bum Bum Hair & Body Fragrance Mist as this pairs up great with it!

All in all, Trader Joe’s Brazil Nut Body Wash is a nice, affordable Summer shower treat. I’d highly recommend snagging it if you love gourmands (or Bum Bum Cream)! It’s very budget friendly and it smells delicious!
