Dove Sugar Cookie Is a Disappointing Take On a Holiday Favorite
Dove Sugar Cookie is a new, limited-edition scent that launched with the new Dove Holiday Treats Collection for Holiday 2023. Dove Sugar Cookie Liquid Hand Wash, Dove Sugar Cookie Body Wash, Dove Sugar Cookie Body Scrub, and Dove Sugar Cookie Beauty Bar Soap are all part of this limited edition run. If you didn’t catch it I already reviewed the Dove Cinnamon Pumpkin Pie scent in a prior post which is also part of this launch. The launch includes a third scent which is Peppermint Bark. All three of the scent collections are available exclusively at Walmart with a fourth scent, Hot Cocoa, available exclusively at Target in a Body Scrub only.
I think Dove has something good going here and it’s obviously a way to target consumers who love Native’s Seasonal Collections. I hope they continue on with this and do some other LE sets as we head into Spring.
Sadly, this was least favorite scent from this collection. It’s not a hate but it isn’t a love either. I would personally skip it and go with Peppermint Bark or Cinnamon Pumpkin Pie! If you want something Sugar Cookie-like you can snag at the drugstore I’d go with the Native Sugar Cookie Collection that launched last year and has returned for Holiday 2023! It’s a much more realistic sugar cookie scent! It’s available in an assortment of products like body wash, deodorant, facial cleanser, body cream and more!
I can’t really figure out what the heck I’m smelling with this because it sort of differs from product to product. The soap smells and body wash sort of smell milky and sugary at the same time and the scrub smells like a sugar plastic scent. The hand wash just smells like dish detergent mixed with some sugar. It give off a real soapy scent. I am not smelling cookies at all. The scent sort of reminds me of what a doll’s head with smell like if that makes sense to anyone. It’s just weirdly cheap and plastic-y with a bit of sugar. I’d go so far as to say it’s almost like a play-doh type of scent. Not good.
The formulas are nice enough! The bar of soap creates a nice rich lather and unlike the Cinnamon Pumpkin Pie one it’s a smooth soap and not a grainy exfoliating one. The hand wash and body wash both create nice, rich lather as well and the scrub is thick, creamy, and does produce a nice lather with a softer grainy consistency for exfoliation. The smell just isn’t it.
This one is a safe skip in my opinion. I realize it’s tempting because oh my god Sugar Cookie and oh my god a mainstream brand like Dove creating a Sugar Cookie scent. But eh, it’s not that great.
Dove Sugar Cookie is available now at Walmart. Have you smelled it?
