Maybe This One Tarte Holiday Set Will Come Home With Me!

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

I’ve actually banned myself from buying any Tarte Holiday 2018 this year because, hate me if you will, I hate the pineapples and the dumb flamingos. Sorry. Rant over. Anyway, despite being a grumpy old lady about pineapples, flamingos, and freaking mermaids I might just hauled the Mermaid Shine Metallic Seaglass Eyeshadow Set. Damn you Tarte, why did you have to put mermaids in the title (you guys are beating a dead ass horse here)?! That along makes me want to not buy it!

Anyway….!

If I can get past the mermaids I’m really into these. I love cream and liquid eyeshadows and this set contains four of them! Apparently it’s a liquid-to-powder metallic finish eyeshadow which sounds intriguing not to mention these aren’t offered as an individual item in Tarte’s permanent collection so, it’s all, oh my gosh something new to try!

Shades: Mermaid Shine Metallic Seaglass Eyeshadows in Suite Life (champagne shimmer), Una Noche (burgundy shimmer), Night Dive (cool brown shimmer), Speed Boat (gunmetal shimmer)

From the swatches I’ve seen these look rather lovely so maybe, just maybe I’ll take myself off my Tarte ban!

Tarte Mermaid Shine Metallic Seaglass Eyeshadow Set is available now for $28.

Should we buy it!?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. I agree with you regarding the childish pineapple and flamingo theme. I have the same issue with Too Faced. Their stuff is $40+, but their colorful plastic palettes with cupcakes and sprinkles make it look like dollar store merchandise.

too faced I’m hit or miss with. Like the peach stuff I like but some of their other stuff like the sticker palette they did was oh god roll my eyes ;-D I actually didn’t feel tarte was childish to be honest, I just felt it was a ridiculous theme. They need to get over the beach, mermaid, sand and surf kick!

I thought the same thing when I saw this. I was ready to walk away from Tarte but this pulled me back in.

Still off the Us and Ms in m/u. but have to confess I got a lovely mermaid collar, with pink webbing, a blue/turquoise ribbon, and a red/gold haired, green/gold tailed, flesh-chested swimming mermaid motif for Patticake. She’s white with red patches and speckles. Jussi, who is black and tan, got a pirate collar, red webbing, black ribbon; the pirate head and crossbones are white, with red headscarves. Now, done with both pirates AND mermaids.

This set caught my eye too while I was scrolling through the holiday section. Guess I didn’t read closely cause I thought they were lipglosses! lol Couldn’t justify more lipglosses but I certainly can cream eyeshadows! Don’t have so many zillions of them. The colors are just so pretty. Might have still ended up with them anyway lol

So I love pineapples and I would be down for that in the summer, but I don’t want that for a holiday collection. I want festive, dammit!

I had these in my cart too but held off Because I have ordered at least 10 eyeshadow palettes in the last month and girl needs to take a break even though I don’t want to, the bank account needs to. LOL. You should definitely get these then I can live vicariously through you. BTW, my two faced pumpkin spice kit arrived today from HSN. I don’t know if you ever ended up ordering one or not but I think you’ll love it. I haven’t worn it on my eyes yet just quickly played with my fingers but my first impressions are really favorable. The shadows were super smooth and there were two metallic shadows that look like a new formula to me absolutely stunning. The only thing I didn’t like is it did not smell like pumpkin it just has a generic sweet scent and a few of my pans are not glued in straight so it’s kind of sloppy manufacturing. But the lipgloss is really pretty and that actually does smell and taste more like pumpkin and I had a 20% off so I got everything for 39 bucks I’m not complaining at all.

I just told myself this when that disney stopped popped up on colourpop! I really don’t need it even though I feel like I do lol! haha…! ;-D I did indeed! I got it but haven’t cracked it open yet! That’s fantastic I am really happy to hear it! I’m glad you got a deal although I am sorry to hear about the shoddy packaging 🙁 I’ll be reviewing it soon so hopefully I feel happy about it ;-D So far, TF seems to be listening and improving!

I have to admit, these do look pretty…I can’t even remember the last time I purchased a Tarte product…I just feel like the line is catering to a much younger demographic these days. But, I am all about a quick and easy eye and these do look tempting!

If you do buy, I’ll be most eager to read your review! I’m drawn to these types of products, even though I rarely use the ones I have (oh Stila liquid shadows, why do you work so well on others yet I can’t seem to get the hang of you?!)

    • Isabella Muse

aww em! Sorry! I LOVE my Stila Liquid Shadows 😉 use them all the time. Can I somehow help with application!?

I ended up getting rid of mine; I couldn’t get the edges to blend without it flaking. I read a few months later that I should’ve been patting with my fingers on the edges instead of blending with a brush, but I’m not willing to buy them again to test the theory.

Although, I do have to say their popularity has started a trend. I want to try these and the bareMinerals ones as well.
