Good Molecules Instant Cleansing Balm ($15) is a new solid facial cleansing balm that launched a few weeks ago at beautylish.com. As you may or may not know Good Molecules is Beautylish’s house brand of affordable skincare much like the Ordinary or the recently launched Inkey List the brand focuses on inexpensive serums, potions, and lotions with minimal yet effective ingredients.

I’ve actually tried most of the line when I initially picked up the Super Seven Set which was the original release but since that time they have added a ton more including the latest which is a Niacinamide Brightening Toner (I’m purchased it and I’m testing it now).

I was pretty excited to see a cleansing balm being added to the line up!

Ciate Jessica Rabbit Multi-Glow Face & Body Highlighter and Jessica Rabbit Compact Mirror for Holiday 2019

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Ciate Jessica Rabbit Makeup Collection didn’t go over well but I’m still excited about the new Jessica Rabbit Multi-Glow Face & Body Highlighter and Jessica Rabbit Compact Mirror for Holiday 2019.

People, I did not hesitate to order both immediately. I need another compact mirror like I need a whole in the head but this is so cute! The Jessica Rabbit Compact Mirror is $25 is dual-sided compact mirror that has a regular mirror on one side and a magnifying on the other! The mirror is silver with a light rose gold 3D print of Jessica’s gorgeous face on the front.

The other exciting piece in this launch is the Ciate Jessica Rabbit Multi-Glow Face & Body Highlighter ($36) is just too cute to use! Featuring Jessica’s gorgeous cameo printed on the powder and a Roger Rabbit puff to apply. This is a HUGE highlighter! It’s 0.60 oz in size. The powder has ultra-fine pearls and light reflective pigment that contains three complimenting universal shades that can be swirled together to create a luminous glow.

Sadly, the original Ciate Jessica Rabbit Collection was a bit disappointing so, I have high hopes that these two new items are better! I’m particularly eager about the mirror! It looks adorable.

Ciate Jessica Rabbit Multi-Glow Face & Body Highlighter and Jessica Rabbit Compact Mirror for Holiday 2019 is available at Sephora.

Teen Makeup and Beauty Spending Statistics

I came across very interesting article today about the steep decline in teen beauty and makeup spending this year. According to Yahoo Finance reports teen’s spent 20% less on makeup in Fall 2019 than they did the previous year. It got me wondering if Gen Zers are spending so much less what about millennials and Gen Xers? I personally feel like the makeup and beauty industry has gone flat. The bubble has burst and people are starting to wake up and realize that they’d rather purchase quality over quantity. We’ve been conditioned to not jump on all the new releases because we know at some point they’ll go on sale, we have plenty of nude, neutral eyeshadows and we don’t need another one, and we realize that having a lot of makeup isn’t akin to having fewer pieces that are of good quality.

Some interesting statics for this study put males at nearly 16 years old being the biggest spenders in the beauty industry at 54% and the other 45% being female. Another interesting factor is the brick and mortar store may not be dead because 91% of teenager girl said they’d rather shop in stores rather than online. I wonder if this could be because they have more access to cash versus a debit or credit card. I got my first credit card when I was 21 but today’s youth is a lot more advanced than I was growing up so, I could be the only thinking they shop in store versus online due to lack of plastic.

One of the most interesting aspects in the survey that was performed is that Ulta is favored by teens over Sephora. This is interesting because again I wonder where this puts millennials and Gen Xers. I’d say in the same boat as Gen Zers. Ulta has added many, many brands to their catalog, has an amazing cash back rewards system, and continues to churn out very exciting sales and promotions where as Sephora fails in many of these important areas.

Curious what brands teens are buying? Me too! Tarte. Yup! Tarte! I called Tarte on their Sugar Rush launch! I thought it was silly and I also, felt like they were aiming way too low with their demographic but turns that Tarte is a brand that’s very popular among female teenagers with Too Faced coming in second and Maybelline after (Maybelline won over MAC if you can believe that). Tarte, forgive me, you obviously know your market.

As we head into 2020, I do wonder where the beauty and makeup industry will go. For me, it’s changed and evolved so much that sometimes I feel like I don’t even recognize it. I guess when we hit bottom the only place we can go is up. So, I hope 2020 doesn’t sink the industry further. I hope it continues to grow and flourish but also, to become more unique and innovative.

What do you think of these statistics? Do you think they hold true for everyone else aside from teens?

Haus Laboratories Le Riot Lipgloss Review & Swatches

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.
4 stars out of 5

Haus Laboratories Le Riot Lipgloss is a new lipgloss formula created by Lady Gaga that’s available in six shades for $18 each. As you may or may not know Haus Laboratories by Lady Gaga was teased late this Summer and became available for pre-order on the brand’s website and amazon.com. I think I placed an order on amazon.com in August but my pre-order was shipped around September 20th or so. It was a long wait for something I wanted to try out immediately.

This isn’t Gaga’s first foray into beauty. In 2012, she launched her Fame Perfume amidst rumors that it smelled of sex, blood, and semen. I can’t make this stuff up, it really went down like that. Turns out it doesn’t smell like any of those things. Thank god because really does anyone want to go around smelling like that?

And of course, Lady Gaga had her Viva Glam Lipstick shades collaboration as well in 2011 and 2012 as well as makeup bags.

I don’t know about you but when you hear Lady Gaga I’m sure you think glamour, fame, edginess, legendary. Whether you love her with all your heart or hate her with passion and venom, she is, without a doubt a very talented lady. At the risk of pissing off her fandom I’ll say that the launch of Haus Laboratories is really, really mediocre. I was actually shocked to see how small the line was. The line consists of shimmer powder eyeshadows, lipglosses, lip liners, black eyeliner, an adhesive eye tattoo, and wing-tipped eye stickers (These are kind of nifty as I suck at creating a winged eye!). Where’s the blush? Where’s the powder eyeshadow? Where’s the lipstick? This is Lady Gaga! I expected SO much more! How do you do a makeup line with so few products? But I braced myself, hunkered down, and convinced myself what she did launch was going to be wonderful. I mean, more is less right? She didn’t have a complete makeup line here but that must mean she put a lot of time and attention into the formulas of the products she did launch.

Mmmmmm………….

Maybe.
