Morphe M536 Under Eye Bullet Brush Do I Need It?

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

I have my eye on the Morphe M536 Under Eye Bullet Brush ($8) at the moment and I’m currently questioning do I need it? I apply my Ben Nye Banana Powder with a small Bobbi Brown Blending Brush that came with one of her concealer kits that was featured on QVC several years ago. It’s like a smaller version of MAC’s 224 and it works perfectly. So, what led to my sudden interest in a larger brush? I keep seeing youTubers using larger brushes to set their concealer and it seems like the powder sheers out so much more naturally with a larger brush.

The M536 isn’t huge but it is larger than what I currently use. It has a rounded head and seems like it would fit under my eye area nicely to gently sweep powder on.

Anyone use this? I think I’m going to grab it! I mean for $8 I can’t really go wrong right? If it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t work out.

Hmmm!

What sort of setting brush do you use for your concealer?

The Urban Decay Naked Cherry Collection arrives today at ulta.com and sephora.com! Are you indulging? The collection doesn’t only feature the Naked Cherry Eyeshadow Palette but also, several cherry lipstick shades, eyeliner, a cherry-scented All Nighter Spray, and Highlighter & Blush Palette.

I’m pretty excited about this launch as I really like these shades but I will say I am every so slightly disappointed the colors aren’t really cherry red. Urban Decay went with more cranberry, wine, and rose shades.

Let’s take a look!

Makeup Revolution Fast Base Concealer review and swatches

Makeup Revolution Fast Base Concealer ($8) is a new brightening concealer that promises to conceal darker circles. I’m sure you’ve watched endless youTube videos with your fav guru that applied layers and layers of a too light shade of concealer under their eyes to produce a highlighted effect. Tarte Shape Tape Concealer actually produces this effect. They intentionally made the shades a bit paler which makes them ideal for contouring and highlighting the under eye area.

As a fan of Makeup Revolution’s Conceal & Define Full Coverage Conceal & Contour Concealer I decided I definitely needed to check out Fast Base Concealer as well but I was concerned about the shades. From my experience with Conceal & Define Full Coverage Conceal & Contour the colors really run quite light, again, intentionally to contour the under eye area and highlight it. This however, made it challenging finding a shade that worked for me. This fear extends to Fast Base Concealer as the shades all run really light. I ended up going with C9 which is for light medium skin tones with peach undertones. Not quite my shade of choice but the next shade up seemed to dark and the shade down seemed to light. I was right, the shade was all wrong. I’d go so far as to call it fair with a cooler peach undertone.

None the less, I’d still like to share some thoughts with you about it.

Birchbox and Walgreens Team Up Which Means Mid-Range Makeup Brands Will Hit Drugstores

Birchbox and Walgreens are teaming up shortly to bring Birchbox Beauty Boxes to 11 Walgreens retail locations (hopefully with more locations to follow in the future) which gives a new lease to drugstore makeup consumers to experience new brands that have never been available at drugstores before.

As they say, the only place to go once you reach the top is down and that’s how it feels with many mid-range brands lately who have outgrown their popularity with older customers in a softening beauty market. It would not surprise me at some point if some brands, say Tarte maybe, will team up with Target or some other retailer for some exclusive collection or even had their entire line offered in a larger scale department store. At this point, consumers in the beauty world have grown jaded and have reservations about where they are spending their dollar which means expansions into department stores or in this case drugstores is the next logical step in gaining a new share of an untapped market.

Birchbox being available at Walgreens means brands like Wander Beauty, RMS Beauty, and more would be readily available at the drugstore. Gasp, shock, outrage!? The Birchbox deal enables Walgreens to bring in over 40 different mid-range and niche brands to the everyday consumer.

Walgreens is quoted as saying they will dedicate space in their stores for the Birchbox experience that provides curated assortments of full-size and deluxe-size samples of products available for purchase. This will be happening in 11 stores across the USA including ones located in Chicago, LA, and NYC which will start selling Birchbox as soon as December and more to follow in 2019.

At these stores, Birchbox will also offer subscriptions to its monthly delivery service of samples, and a “Build Your Own Birchbox” just like the experience at their flagship stores in New York.

I think this opens a door for a more Ulta-like experience at drugstores like Walgreens. It’s not everyday you head into Walgreens and see brands like RMS Beauty lining the shelves. I look forward to see how brands handle things as the market continues to soften.

What do you think of Birchbox at Walgreens?

Too Faced Pumpkin Spice Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Too Faced Pumpkin Spice Eye Palette Collection review and swatches

The new HSN exclusive Too Faced Pumpkin Spice Eye Palette Collection featuring a Pumpkin Spice Eyeshadow Palette launched last month and I purchased it immediately because I’m basic. Don’t lie that the idea of a Pumpkin Spice Eyeshadow Palette didn’t totally make you squeal in joy. I haven’t quite reached a point where I’m annoyed or irritated by scented makeup or makeup inspired by fruits and veggies. Present me with unicorn or mermaid makeup anything and I will cut you but give me a fruity scented makeup collection or in this case a Pumpkin Spice one and I’m all over it.

Too Faced Pumpkin Spice Eye Palette Collection is actually a 4 piece set that’s $49.99, available exclusively at hsn.com, and ships free. The items inside the set are all full-size and it comes in a gorgeous box ready for gifting. It’s actually a really cute hostess gift if you’re attending any Fall events/gatherings at a friend’s house who happens to love makeup.
