Pat Mcgrath The Golden One Eyeshadow Palette Star Wars Edition Review & Swatches

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.
5 stars out of 5

Pat Mcgrath The Golden One Eye Shadow Palette Star Wars Edition ($36) is one of three 5-pan eyeshadow palettes that launched with the recent and second Pat Mcgrath x Star Wars Collection. Somehow, someway I was able to resist purchasing every single piece of this collection but I did have a nerd-gasm when I first saw it. My nerd side demanded me to do it but my logical side said, “You don’t need it!” I stayed strong or at least I did for a little while as I did end up indulging one of the palettes that being the Golden One. Did I need it? No because obviously I have so many shades like this. Did I want it? Absolutely and guess what I so, don’t regret this one.

I Just Need to Know If Meredith Duxbury Really Applies That Much Foundation

If you live under a rock like I do you might now know who Meredith Duxbury is. I really struggle keeping up with popular influencers and feel like an 85 year old woman navigating popular music culture in 2023 versus music from my own era when it comes to knowing who anyone is. I’ve always been that way when it comes to youTube and now it’s the same with Tiktok. I’m pretty old school so, I’ll totally know a blogger but if some new Tarte collaboration pops up with an influencer I’ll have to haul ass to Google to find out who that person is. And said person typically has like 5 gabillion followers so, yeah, I’m the only one not knowing who she or he is. See? Told ya I live under a rock.

I will say I’m sort of a little bit better with Tiktokers and I do recognize some of the popular ones especially ones that stand out like Meredith Duxbury. Why does she stand out? Well….my friends, she legit uses a bottle of foundation per a video. But before we dive into that please know I am NOT making fun of Meredith in this post nor am I condemning whatever way she wants to apply or wear makeup. My motto is you do you. If she’s happy with her methods and they work for her that’s ALL THAT MATTERS.

I’m just honestly curious if she REALLY uses that much foundation or if she does it for the views. We all have something! I try to inject humor into my blog to get you to read it, some folks do hauls and unboxings for views, others do bold and fabulous makeup! Hell some people do true crime and makeup! So is Meredith’s thing covering her entire face in a bottle of foundation?

Hourglass Blush & Glow Ambient Lighting Edit for Summer 2023

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Hourglass Summer 2023 is doing the most! We got not one but three new palettes to enjoy this year! Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Blush & Glow and Ambient Lighting Edit Sculpt & Set join the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Diffused Rose Palette I told you about earlier this week for a Summer 2023 launch!

Don’t hate me but for a while I stopped looking out for Ambient Lighting Palettes but after hauling all the Holiday 2023 ones I’ve suddenly become a fan girl for these again! If you haven’t already check out my Butterfly Ambient Light Edit Unlocked Palette and Elephant Ambient Lighting Edit Palette Review! I swear these have become staples in my routine lately. I’m just loving the beautiful color they bring to my duller complexion!

They’ve also created a small problem where I want to buy more Ambient Palettes! I’m finding it hard to resist the new Blush & Glow and Diffused Rose Palette. I shall prayer to the makeup gods tonight to given me strength to resist.

Ambient Lighting Edit Sculpt & Set ($85) I thankfully don’t need. This one contains a selection of finishing, bronzer, and highlighter powders. You get six total shades and it is available for a limited time. Shades include:

  • Ambient Lighting Powder Dim light: A neutral peach-beige powder with the perfect balance of warm and cool tones
  • Ambient Lighting Powder Diffused Light: A soft, warm, pale-yellow powder that conceals redness and gives skin clarity
  • Ambient Lighting Powder Filtered Light A cool, medium-toned finishing powder that blurs imperfections
  • Ambient Lighting Bronzer Golden Bronze Light A neutral golden bronzer
  • Ambient Metallic Strobe Lighting Powder Celestial Gold Light: A golden champagne highlighter
  • Ambient Lighting Powder Transcendent Light: A warm sienna finishing powder that adds ethereal dimension

Ok, I can’t say the same for the Ambient Lighting Edit Blush & Glow ($85). I really like this one! This also contains six shades three of which are blushes and three highlighters.

You get:

  • Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder in Incandescent Strobe Light: An opalescent pearl highlighter
  • Ambient Lighting Blush in Soft Flush: A deep mauve blush
  • Ambient Metallic Strobe Lighting Powder in Celestial Strobe Light: A golden champagne highlighter
  • Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Flush: A mid-tone rose blush
  • Ambient Metallic Strobe Lighting Powder in Champagne Strobe Light: A metallic gold highlighter
  • Ambient Lighting Blush in Sunset Glow: A terracotta blush

They got me with that Sunset Glow Blush (but I have it already)! I’ll try to be good. I really will because luckily a lot of these shades are in the Butterfly Palette! Phew!

What do you think of these new palettes?

Hourglass Blush & Glow Ambient Lighting Edit and Ambient Lighting Edit Sculpt & Set are available now on that brand’s website and hopefully soon at Sephora and Ulta!

The Scuba ToothBrush is Like a Hairbrush for Your Teeth

No, these aren’t a tampon holder! Ha…! Fun story, maybe TMI. When I was a kid we used to spend Summers in Europe and my mom would have this really cool case she travelled with. This is way before TSA was a thing but this case had all sorts of bottles, jars, cases, etc…to hold your lotions, potions, etc…I was obsessed with it and I swear it was my gateway drug into storage and organization as to this very day I love little drawers, boxes, jars, and cases for storage! In my kitchen, in my desk drawer, bathroom, you name it everything has to have its own jar, case, or box.

My mom and dad are really old school and discussions about sex, periods, etc…weren’t really a thing in our household. The birds and the bees conversation never really came up and when it was time for my period my mom chaperoned a VHS recording of Growing Up On Broadway. The level of embarrassment my 5th grade self over this was massive (I also recall having second hand embarrassment over Shelley’s eyebrow situation). I got my period in the sixth grade but I was already prepped and prepared for it thanks to Annie aka Shelley Bruce. Thank you Shelley, I’m still traumatized to this day. It’s ok! I grew up just fine if not a little innocent. But I think I was a child of that time as moms are a lot more liberal and forward thinking now.

Anyway, I’m bringing this up because these silly toothbrush cases reminded me of my mom’s travel case. There was a circular tube in it with the many empty bottles, jars, etc…that came in that case and I was quite young at the time perhaps 8 or 9 and I asked her what it was for which she replied, “It’s a toothbrush holder”. It took many, many years to figure out it was a tampon holder. I love you mom and your weird way of avoiding discussing period stuff with me. Lucky for me my mom has gotten better with age as sex and period talk doesn’t squeak her out as much anymore but she apparently wasn’t prepared for it when I was a kid or a teenager so she left dear old Annie to do the job for her! MY PERIOD WILL COME OUT TOMORROW! Yeah, corny joke but I laughed!

This actually isn’t a tampon holder, toothbrush holder, tampon chat though….I wanted to ask you have you ever used a Scuba Toothbrush?

NARS Afterglow Sensual Shine Hydrating Lipstick Review & Swatches

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.
4 stars out of 5

NARS Afterglow Sensual Shine Hydrating Lipstick ($32) are a new range of hydrating lipsticks infused with shea and mango butter to moisturize and nourish lips while providing color. Rejoice fans of shiny lipsticks! Afterglow Sensual Shine Hydrating Lipsticks DO NOT disappoint! I am forever, always a fan of shiny lip looks and shiny lipsticks hold a special place in my heart as many of my old favorite Japanese lipsticks all had that beautiful, lightweight formula with a shiny finish. If you’re ever in Tokyo visit the nearest drugstore and behold the assortment of wonderful shiny (and affordable) lipsticks you can get your hands on. It’s not to say the Japanese don’t love matte formulas but I feel like shiny lippies def dominate their makeup world.

I personally have drier lips and I really don’t like a matte lip look nor do I love the feel of it. Hybrid formulas like the Afterglow Sensual Shine Hydrating Lipsticks are ideal for me as I get that soft, hydrating texture and shininess I’d get from a balm or lipgloss and the pigment of a lipstick but not the heaviness of one!
