3 stars out of 5

Covergirl Trunaked Peach Punch Eyeshadow Palette ($9) is a peach scented eyeshadow palette that launched with the new Covergirl Peaches & Chocolate Collection for Summer 2018. This palette along with the Trunaked Chocoholic Eyeshadow Palette are both available exclusively at Walmart and Walmart.com.

I mentioned in a few past posts I’m a fan of the Trunaked Eyeshadow Palette formula so I was pretty happy to see Covergirl was extending the line with two more shades. This collection is an obvious spin on the Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette and more recent Peaches & Cream Collection.

When I originally posted about this collection it was a bit confusing. I mean how do peaches and chocolate come together!? But somehow the collection does work. It’s dominated by peaches shades with one really interesting rich chocolate palette thrown into the mix. It’s a cute collection and follows the current “scented makeup” trend that Too Faced started but the drugstore is very busy making all its own with scented options that have released from Maybelline, L’Oreal, and others!

I think at some point I’ll turn around and groan if someone does another scented makeup item but I haven’t quite reached that point yet and the idea is quite novel and cute. I like it and I’ve been bitten by the pokeman bug as I’ve been purchasing every single scented palette that launches lately.

Covergirl Peach Punch Trunaked Eyeshadow Palette is indeed scented like peaches however, the scent is fairly subtle but honestly, it’s a lot stronger than that of the original Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette which was a little weak in the fragrance department. The palette holds eight eyeshadow shades, a dual-ended applicator, and comes housed in Covergirl’s new start white packaging. The palette does have a cute peach cardboard slipcover.

In my prior review of the Chocoholic Eyeshadow Palette I mentioned how confusing the diagram and instructions on the back of the palette were. I also mentioned how I thought it odd the shades didn’t have names since prior TruNaked Palettes did have individual shade names. Stupidly I didn’t realize the back of the palette has a peel back which shed a bunch of light on the weird instructions that read CO1, L4, CR5. After peeling the label back I finally figured out what the hell they were referencing. There’s a large diagram of an eye with points where color should be placed as well as a legend that explains the odd numbers and letters that were being used. And finally they also include a list of the shade names. Thanks to one of my readers who told me about all this as I had no clue.

  • CR=Crease
  • B=Brow Bone
  • L=Lid
  • CO=Corner

and the numbers after each letter references the shades in the palette!

This palette isn’t an exact dupe for Too Faced Sweet Peach but it sure as hell has some dupes and can easily recreate some looks from that palette! It contains five mattes and three shimmers all of which have a soft slurry hybrid formula that’s part cream, part powder. These are very soft and have a good deal of dusky kick up, much more than the Chocoholic Palette did but the fall out wasn’t too bad and the colors blended without too much of a mess. The shimmers had the most fall out and kicked up the most powder.

I was a bit disappointed in the mattes as they applied sheer and blended out into nothingness. I experienced the same with the Maybelline Lemonade Craze Eyeshadow Palette. There was a lot of building involved when I was using the mattes. I do wish they had more of the shimmer shades as those are the most intense, silkiest in texture, and had the best pigment.

I love this color range but I have to admit I wasn’t skilled enough to create a look using these shades paired together. The combo of peachy shades with darker chocolate-y shades was difficult to work with. I know some people that can pull off a peachy brown eye look flawlessly but I always feel like I blend the shades into pure mud. I did struggle a little but I don’t regret the purchase as I had a fun time using this palette regardless.

Covergirl TruNaked Peach Punch Eyeshadow Palette is really a fun pick! I do wish it was a little easier to use and that the mattes didn’t blend so poorly but I think I can bring together some looks using it and other shades from collection.

Where to buy

Walmart

Covergirl Peach Punk TruNaked Eyeshadow Palette is a new palette available for Summer 2018 that contains 8 peach scented and inspired shades of eyeshadow thats $9.99 and exclusively available at Walmart. The palette is visually very pretty but I struggled a little pairing up shades to create a look and was a little disappointed but how sheer the mattes applied and blended out.

I just picked up this palette and one of the blushes at Walmart last night. Mine didn’t have the outer box on the palette though.

Out of curiosity, do you use the sponge-tipped applicators included or something else to apply?

    • Isabella Muse

Yay! really?! Sorry! I use the sponge applicators to pack color on and blend with my regular brushes!

  • Carol G

I love the “Easy, Breezy, Tip: Blend, Blend, Blend” on the back. (no duh) Thanks for the review. Since I already own the TF Peach palette I don’t feel the need for this one (nor the chocolate one). I agree, the shade selection on both palettes is odd. It’s a good choice for people on a budget who can’t afford TF though. In my opinion, CG is just too late to the party with these palettes…

Side note: did you purchase the peach blush from this collection? Was curious how pigmented that was. I finally got my L’Oreal Paradise Enchanted blush and it is NOT very pigmented at all. The promo images are highly misleading (once again). I bought it from Amazon so I took a change by not seeing it in person but I think I’m done buying things sight unseen. Also, thanks to Amazon’s crappy packing (someone literally chucked that blush in a BOX with no bubble wrap, paper or anything!) it arrived cracked. I was able to save it by putting alcohol on it but I also got Amazon to refund my money. Ridiculous…

    • Isabella Muse

lol just don’t blend too much because the color disappears haha! my pleasure! A little late for sure but honestly, peach anything always grabs my attention! I didn’t purchase it, covergirl’s press team did send me samples! It’s really, really bright and pigmented! I was having a hard time toning it down it was so pigmented ;-D I didn’t test my L’Oreal ones yet but I’m not surprised, L’Oreal blush is generally crappy. Mine arrived with absolutely no wrapping at all, thrown in a HUGE box (waste paper much) with no bubble wrap or anything to secure it. Thanks Amazon!

      • Carol G

Exactly how mine arrived as well, just thrown in a big box. Thought the same thing: what a waste! Usually they put makeup or small items in a bubble mailer envelope. So the CG blush is pigmented? Well, I will head to Walmart to try to find that. Hoping it’s the blush I wanted the L’Oreal one to be…

        • Isabella Muse

I’ve literally gotten one lipstick from amazon in a HUGE rectangle box. I mean really is that necessary who the hell is packing this stuff? It is, very! Both shades are quite pigmented! They aren’t pink on me though, they go on a bit orange-y!

  • Angie Clementine

Hi Muse! I found some other new TruNaked palettes besides this one and the Chocolate one at my local Walmart. There was one called Sunsets which had lots of bold pinks and purples and another one with rainbow colors whose name I can’t recall. I was wondering if you had any information about the other new palettes?

      • Angie Clementine

No, it’s definitely not the same as the Jewels palette. I’m at Walmart right now, looking at the new palettes. The rainbow-looking one is called Dazed and it looks like mostly shimmers with the exception of one bright blue and possibly a purple? There is also a charcoal gray shade that looks downright glittery! I took a photo of it, so I could email it to you if you’re curious!

        • Isabella Muse

interesting! I haven’t seen that one! I’d love a pic thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

          • Angie Clementine

Sure! I couldn’t figure out how to add an attachment from your “Email Me” page. Am I missing something?

          • Isabella Muse

no you didn’t that’s me 🙂 I’ll email you can I use this email you have on file!?

  • OLIVIA

Again with the TruNakeds!! I went out and bought the jewel-toned palette thanks to you, Muse! Haven’t tried it on my lids yet, just swatched on my hand but loving the slight shimmer and color so far. I’m really interested to try this one out too.

Fun tidbit– I heard from a friend in cosmetics that lots of brands actually don’t use the term ‘slurry’ at all but most palettes we see are actually slurries! The trick is to look for the pan- if the eyeshadows aren’t sitting in a separate metal (or plastic) base that gets glued in, then it’s 90% chance it’s a slurry. So for example, both the Maybelline Lemonade and Burgundy are slurry formulas. Mind BLOWN!!!

    • Isabella Muse

Yay! happy to hear it let me know how it goes! Interesting! I had no idea that was how to tell slurries from regular shadows ;-D thanks for that cool tip!

  • Sílvia

I’d totally go for the peach colors by themselves having the Jewels & Rose palettes there’s too much repeat of the nude and darker brown colors wish they would reinvent the entire palette and had added different Summer shades even bronze, golds, rose golds but add more funk to it or cool shades. I kind of find them similar texture as my Nyx Warm Neutrals which I love buttery and smooth to apply not bad! But just too much repeats.
