Milani Soft & Sultry Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Milani Soft & Sultry Eyeshadow Palette ($20) is a new 12-pan eyeshadow that the brand released as an early Fall 2018 launch. This it the third of four palettes (five if you count the fairly recent Gilded Desires Eye & Face Palette) that Milani recently launched. Somehow, someway Milani has decided that their calling is to launch really incredible eyeshadows palettes and I’m not complaining in the least.
The Bold Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette one of the first releases in this new larger eyeshadow palette trend for the brand and one of the first ones I tried. I proceeded to whine a good deal about the fact it cost me $20. When all is said and done I’m not really keen on paying $20 for a drugstore eyeshadow palette but I did and after trying it I don’t regret the purchase at all. It was money very, very well spent. The formula was outstanding and I had the feel and look of a mid-range eyeshadow palette. I mean I spent $59 on the Too Faced Then & Then Eyeshadow Palette which contains more shades and is a way larger palette but in the end I’m happier with the formula, texture, and pigment from Milani than I was from Too Faced. I could get three Milani Palettes which would leave me with 36 buttery eyeshadow shades in comparison to the 20 mediocre ones I got from Too Faced.
It’s pretty ironic that drugstore makeup is packed quality where as mid-range brands purchased at Sephora or on counter are becoming worst and worst.
None the less let’s talk about the Milani Soft & Sultry Eyeshadow Palette!
Like past palettes the Milani Soft & Sultry Eyeshadow Palette arrives in a medium-size gold compact with a black lacquer back that has the shade names listed at the back with the shades broken into quads to create a Weekday, Weekend, and Funday look. Of course, you can combine and mix any way you like but I appreciate the color pairings none the less. Each eyeshadow is 0.04 oz in size and the palette is Made in the USA.
As a lover of Milani, the gold packaging always turned me off but they did a good job with these palettes. They have a nice weight to them and the pretty script on the front gives the palette a chic look. Although the face plate is a magnet for fingerprints but does wipe away easily enough.
The palette’s focus is on one of my favorite shades, taupe. I can’t really do a traditional black smoky eye lately. Puffy, fined lines just aren’t mean for a smoky eye in my opinion or at least I can’t pull off one. Taupe is the solution! It’s a great shade to do a smoky eye without bring attention to any under eye woe. There’s plenty of gorgeous taupe in here to make lovers of the shade happy.
The palette contains 8 mattes and 4 shimmer shades. If I could change one thing about the palette I would wish for more shimmer shades but really, the palette works on a whole and has good contrasting shades so adding more shimmer might not really benefit anything here.
All the shades have a soft, silky consistency with a buttery texture that applies and blends flawlessly with very little out and plenty of pigment. It’s a palette I can see myself getting a lot of use out of not to mention it’ll be one I can travel with very easily. I also felt like it was quite easy to use. I didn’t feel loss and confused about which shades paired well together since they all worked great together to create beautiful looks.
All in all, the Milani Soft & Sultry Eyeshadow Palette is a winner. If Milani keeps creating these 12-pan eyeshadow palettes I’m all about buying them!
Muse Approved.
Where to buy
Milani Soft & Sultry Eyeshadow Palette is a $20 palette that contains 12 shades which are 0.04 oz each. I honestly expected nothing from the best from this eyeshadow after having tried and experienced the two prior 12-pan eyeshadow palettes Milani released several weeks ago and it didn’t disappoint! The formula was smooth, buttery, pigmented, and easy to use. The shades worked great together and contrasted well to create work friendly or evening looks quickly and easily. This one was well worth a pick up!
- Excellent assortment of shades for a work friendly or evening look.
- Buttery, pigmented eyeshadows.
- Great for taupe eyeshadow lovers.
- Not available outside the Milani website as of yet.
- Expensive (but quality is A+)
I think this is an ideal pick for anyone who wants a work friendly eyeshadow palette that transitions well for evening looks as well. It’s travel friendly and a no brainer to create really easy, elegant looks for day or night use. It’s particularly a great pick up if you’re a lover of taupe.
