Almay Lip Vibes Lipstick ($7.99 or Buy 1, Get 1 50% Off) are a new, permanent range of lipsticks that the brand released for Fall 2018 in 24 shades. I mentioned in a prior post I did on these how much these look and felt like the Sephora Lip Stories Lipstick that launched several months ago and after getting the shade I purchased I have to admit I still have the vibe going on. These are pretty cute and obviously quite fun for Almay.

Like many brands, Almay is trying to attract a younger demographic and I think this packaging will help that along. Because, let’s be real, Almay hasn’t really made any real effort to update their packaging in years and it’s pretty much straight forward and sterile. There’s nothing fun about it. However, Lip Vibes Lipstick does bring colorful cardboard wrapped barrels with names fun, funky names splashed across the front like “Dance Now”, “Treat Yourself”, and “Go Wild”. Not to mention they also launched some alternative shades like a bright yellow and an icy blue!

This isn’t to say that teens and twenty-somethings are the only ones that can enjoy these lipsticks. I think everyone will like these little guys. They are cute but also, the formula proves quite lovely as well. I was a little conservative and only purchased a single shade but I can see myself going back to grab up more shades.

I got the shade Treat Yourself which traditional blue-based red with a cream finish. I obviously got it because of the name and the reference to Parks and Recreation because who doesn’t love the “Treat Yo’ Self” episode! Clothes, fragrances, massages, mimosas, fine leather goods!

Anyway….!

I liked the formula a lot. It applied beautifully with a smooth, easy glide, and a cream finish that didn’t adhere to drier areas on my lips. It has a faint vanilla flavor but I didn’t detect a fragrance. I have to admit I do like Sephora’s version a little better (which is actually cheaper by a dollar and the same 0.14 oz size). I thought the formula was much creamy and luxe. This is very nice as well but not as a creamy. The wear time was great at five hours but there was some migration with this shade during that time. I blame the color more than the formula though! Reds have a tendency to creep around my lip line.

All in all, these are a cute round of basic lipsticks that have a nice formula and won’t break your bank account!

Ulta

Almay Lip Vibe Lipsticks are a new, permanent collection of lipsticks available in 24 shades for $8 each that are 0.14 oz in size and available in cream and matte finishes. I thought the formula was quite lovely. The lipstick I choose was a cream finish that applied quite easily with a smooth, easy glide. I didn’t feel like it was terribly hydrating but not dry either. The color was very pigmented and wore for five hours but did migrate a bit. I find red lipsticks are prone to migration for me so that wasn’t necessarily an issue with the formula just the shade I think! It’s a pretty basic formula which was quite good but the concept is the same as Sephora Lipstories Lipstick which I liked a bit better formula wise.

Pros

  • Anyone looking for an inexpensive lipstick with a good formula.
  • Pigmented.
  • Applies easily and flawlessly.
  • Solid wear at around five hours.

Cons

  • Not as creamy as I would want in my lipstick but hey, for the price you can’t beat it!

Who

Anyone seeking an inexpensive and cute little basic lipstick should get on just fine with these new Almay Lip Vibes Lipstick!

I got one of the neutral ones and I love it. I actually like it more than the nude shade I got in the Sephora lipstories collection. I think I may pick up another of the Almay ones.

cream or matte? I got the cream and I liked it but I thought the Sephora one I got was creamier! Still very nice though!

I bought Worry Less which is listed as matte but feels really creamy to me.

I have the Spring Break lipstories lipstick, not sure but I think it is considered cream.

Ok! that solves it! going to try the matte next ;-D I got the cream finish and it wasn’t quite as nice as Lipstories so maybe the matte Lip Vibes are a nicer texture ;-D

About 15-20 years ago, Almay was a brand I regularly checked out. I recall a lipstick and lipgloss line I really liked, a mascara here and there, blush also. If they are going to start releasing good products again, I shall welcome them back into my mu world with open arms! Excited to try those new cream eyeshadows and these too!
