Lorac Unzipped Sheer Silk Lipgloss ($18) are a new lipgloss that launched with the Lorac Spring 2019 along with three new Unzipped Eyeshadow Palettes.

I get on pretty well with Lorac Lipgloss and really like their Alter Ego Lipgloss formula as well as the many, many seasonal lipgloss sets they do which are such a great value.

When they launched four shades of this new Unzipped Sheer Silk Lipgloss it was tempting to purchase all the shades because I knew the formula would be great not to mention I was really like the nude, natural shades. The only thing that prevented me from indulging was “sheer” in the title. How sheer?

Pretty sheer sadly. Darn it! This is such a beautiful formula but I do so wish it had a touch more pigment!

Lorac Unzipped Sheer Silk Lipgloss is 0.13 oz in size and $18 per shade. It arrives in Lorac’s standard lipgloss packaging but has a rose gold cap. I love the packaging as I love rose gold anything.

I haven’t seen the colors in person as of yet and I do hope some of the others are more pigmented than the color I selected. I got Unfazed which is a peachy bronze nude with very fine gold shimmer. It’s a stunning color and it actually looks amazing if you use it on top of a nude lipstick but on its own it does lack pigment even when you build it up. There’s another shade called Buff which looks deeper in promo images which I’m going to try to check out at Ulta as I’m really liking this formula.

As with most Lorac Lipgloss formulas, Unzipped Sheer Silk Lipgloss doesn’t disappoint! It’s a well formulated lipgloss formula and the lack of pigment is the only issue with it. This formula has a light, gel-like texture with a lightweight formula. I didn’t feel like it was too thick nor sticky or tacky. It feels pleasantly hydrating on my lips and quite weightless. It wears for about two hours and during that time didn’t move around or migrate to my upper or lower lip line. The gloss does have a light minty flavor but I didn’t detect any fragrance.

As I said it does lack pigment but you can add a few layers and get a very mild hint of tint on lips with some a pretty gold sheen from the shimmer. It’s a gloss that will accent a nude lipstick or tint but doesn’t have much oomph worn alone!

Lorac Unzipped Sheer Silk Lipgloss nailed the formula but I do find myself wishing it had more pigment which makes this an expensive pick up!

Where to buy

Ulta

Lorac Unzipped Sheer Silk Lipgloss is a new lightweight, sheer lipgloss that released in four shade selections for Spring 2019 that’s 0.13 oz in size and $18 per shade. This formula is great! Lightweight, not sticky nor tacky, and lightly hydrating with a smooth shiny finish. Sadly, it does wear for a shorter time and the pigment is lacking in a major way.

Pros

  • Lightweight, not tacky nor sticky.
  • Lightly hydrating.
  • Accents nude lipsticks or stains very nicely!

Cons

  • Lacks pigment, very sheer.
  • Expensive due to lack of pigmentation.
  • Short wear.

Who

Lorac Unzipped Sheer Silk Lipgloss is a perfect pick for those who like Lorac’s lipgloss formula! This doesn’t disappoint formula and texture wise (but does sadly lack pigment).

    I definitely wouldn’t pay $18 for a sheer gloss. :/

I think it looks totally gorgeous on you, and does not need any more pigment. But ikwym. There isn’t a hint of your lip color, at least in the photo. It doesn’t seem too sheer, and I think Lorac achieved the pigment level they wanted. This would be a great everyday shade for many. It’s not at all makeup-y. I guess you are comparing this one to other Loracs you like better, but it sure seems fine to me.

that color is SO pretty on you! but i dont see myself spending $18 on a sheer lip product. its the reason i wear makeup: so it can be SEEN! >_< haha

i gotta say, Lorac is not doing much for me these days. as soon i read in your review that this was $18, i instantly thought ' oh you can get a MAC lipglass for about that amount…..'. i do love LORAC, especially their eyeshadows, but i feel as if this brand often goes under the radar, if that makes sense. They need a re-vamp or something! anyone agree? Smashbox kind of gives me those under-the radar- vibes too, however, i do notice they really are trying to pump out some cool products (Vlada collection) , and collab with celebs, Shay Mitchell, and beauty influencers, Casey holmes etc…

this will be a pass for me, because id go for a MAC gloss over a Lorac one anyday for what LORAC is charging. Thanks for the review! as always, love reading your blog!
