Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Eyeshadow Palette ($16.95) are a new 12-pan eyeshadow palette that are launched for Spring 2019 in two shades and were inspired by the popularity of Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Blush, Bronzer, and Highlighter.
This is one of the biggest eyeshadow palettes I’ve seen released from Physicians Formula and it’s testimony to how much the brand has evolved and changed in the last two years. It’s also pretty much the gold standard lately with drugstore brands to reach larger palettes like this that are in the $15 plus price range. Drugstore makeup pricing is nearing mid-range makeup pricing lately and it is always slightly shocking to see it this high!
None the less, pricing aside, I was all about trying these Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Eyeshadow Palette even though I’m not a fond fan of the Murumuru Butter Blush everyone is so crazy about. Physicians Formula recently released a line of Murumuru Butter Lip Creams and based off how wonderful those were I felt confident that the eyeshadow palettes would turn out just as good!

Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Eyeshadow Palette arrives in a holographic silver compact decorated with palms. The palettes are made in the USA and available in two shade selections one called Tropical Days and the other Sultry Nights. Each holds 12 eyeshadows each which are broken down into three quads for three easy looks but of course, shades can be mixed and matched anyway you like. The total weight of each palette is 0.55 oz. In the back of the palette you’ll find step-by-step instructions to create three looks. There’s also a double-ended sponge application included for application. They do have a very, very subtle coconut fragrance. You have to put your nose really close to the palette to smell it though!
I did haul both of palettes but I think some of the shades run together a bit and your looks might look a bit similiar due to the shades being along the same lines of each other. That being said there’s still a lot of pretty shades although, none are truly unique if you already have a lot of eyeshadow palettes in your stash. For the most part, I’d say both contain fairly warm, tropical shades with splashes of aqua and purple. I love how they split the shades into three quads each featuring four colors each. It made my life a lot easier when deciding how I wanted to combine colors. As I said aboce you can mix and match anyway you like but I did find it handy have the shades broken up for me for easy contrasting!

There’s a lot of good to be had here but some shades did perform better than others. There are matte, shimmer and sparkle shades in the palette. Some of the matte shades were a tad dry but they blended well (they did swatch patchy though as you can see in some of my photos). The shimmer or I’d go so far as to call the metallic shades were the best formula. They had a soft, velvety texture that felt buttery and applied and blended beautifully. There are some chunky sparkle shades, like the top shade in the third quad in Tropical Days which had a chunky, flakier texture. This formula was a little difficult to apply and worked best as a topper and applied best by patting on with a finger.
There’s some bumps in the road but overall, these are formulated very well for drugstore eyeshadow and you can create some beautiful looks using them! I think Physicians Formula did a wonderful job on them! I’d buy other shades if PF decided to release them!
Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Eyeshadow Palette are well worth a pick up and the price does meet up with the quality you’re getting here. Some shades perform better than other but I’d say on a whole the shadows were beautifully formulated and created some very nice looks!

- A lot of beautifully textured eyeshadows that applied and blended easily.
- A nice (but not quite unique) selection of shades that were easy to pair up for different looks.
- Expensive for drugstore makeup!
- Subtle coconut fragrance that was pleasant but might be an issue for sensitive users.
Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Eyeshadow Palettes should be exciting and appealing for those who like a good drugstore makeup find! These eyeshadows were quite lovely!
