4 stars out of 5

Colourpop Drop of a Hat Super Shock Cheek is one of six new blushes that launched with the Colourpop Whatever Eyeshadow Palette. I got all six shades of the blush when I purchased the Call It Whatever Vault and I don’t regret the purchase at all! These are so my shades and they feel so very Fall which I’ve really been missing with all these Holiday releases that skipped right over the Fall season!

Let’s take a look at my thoughts on the Colourpop Drop of the Hat Super Shock Cheek below.

You might notice that Colourpop Drop of a Hat Super Shock Cheek is housed in Colourpop’s permanent white pot packaging. All of the Whatever Collection came in burgundy packaging but I guess they ran out and since the shade is repromoted it might be that it will become permanent at some point.

This is a very pretty deeper, more coppery version of NARS Orgasm. On my it’s a golden peachy shade with a nice bit of warmth and a fine gold and copper shimmer. It’s actually a lot more emollient than other Super Shock Cheek shades I own which made applying it with my fingers a lot easier due to the light, creamy texture!

This formula reminds me of the MAC Electric Cool Eyeshadows. The texture is a a soft, clay-like creamy texture much like Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush. This particular shade has a lot more slip though giving it a dewy appearance on my skin. That also means it wore a little shorter for me. It seemed to show signs of fading at around hour six.

I still love shades like this though! I’m a big fan of golden pinks or peaches. They just look great on my skin tone and Drop of a Hat is no different. It’s a beautiful shade that gives my cheeks a pretty luminous glow. And at $8 bucks it’s totally an affordable pick up!

Where to buy

Colourpop

Colourpop Drop of a Hat Super Shock Cheek is a re-promoted shade making an appearance for Fall 2019. This is a pretty coppery golden peach with fine gold and copper shimmer that reminds of a deeper shade of Orgasm. It’s a little thinner and more emollient compared to other Colourpop blushes which makes it easy to apply it using finger tips but also, lessens the wear time in my experience to around six hours compared to nine or ten with the more satiny versions. This shade is pigmented, luminous, and has a dewy finish!

Pros

  • Affordable.
  • Gorgeous shade that gives cheeks a pop of pretty color and glow.

Cons

  • Has a dewy finish that might not be fitting for oily skin.
  • A little shorter wearing compared to other Colourpop Blush shades!

Who

Colourpop Drop of a Hat Super Shock Cheek is a perfect pick for anyone that loves shades like NARS Orgasm.

Hii, just wanted to ask what sort of brushes do you use to put on supershock blushes and shadows. The flat brushes i use hardly picks up anything. Thanks fir the great review

Hi! For this one I used my fingers because it’s quite creamy but for some of the more satiny ones I use a fiber brush! Anything with really super soft bristles is best in my experience!

I thought this looked like the prettiest of the fall blushes, but when I went through my collection, I realized I already had it hahaha. I don’t ever remember buying it, but I’m a huge ColourPop addict, so I plead insanity. Looks lovely on you!

      LOL! ;-D I don’t THINK I have it or at least I hope I don’t haha!

I just picked this up today because I remembered your review. I’d seen it in the store before and bought the other two with it so naturally I had to go back for this one. Question: do you ever try to use the super shock cheek products (blush or highlighter) on your eyes? I just wondered if they’re basically like the same thing as the eyeshadows. Maybe. Little sheerer? I’ve never tried the Colourpop eyeshadows but I’m hooked on the blush! I thought I could do monochromatic looks and just put a little bit everywhere LoL.
