Wet n Wild My Melody Liquid Matte Lip Color Review & Swatches
Sweetie Pie is one of two Wet n Wild My Melody Liquid Matte Lip Color shades launching with the Wet n Wild My Melody and Kuromi Makeup Collection. This long-wearing lipstick is pretty much the same formula as the MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Lipstick but in limited edition packaging featuring My Melody. Don’t worry Kuromi fans! You’ll get a goth-y purple Wet n Wild Kuromi Liquid Matte Lip Color shade in this collection.
I’m surprised they didn’t go with a nude pink to match My Melody’s little bunny ears! Instead they went with a hot fuchsia pink which is fun for Summer looks!
I know, I know you’re thinking you won’t wear this anytime with masks in season at the moment. But no worries, it sets to a matte, transfer-proof finish so wearing it under your mask is complete an option.
This arrives in the same packaging as Liquid Catsuit and the formula is the same as well. The only major difference here is the packaging. They went with a pale pink packaging with black accents and our darling, kawaii My Melody strikes a bashful pose on the barrel.
Like the Wet n Wild x My Melody x Kuromi Blushlighter Palette and Kuromi Eyeshadow Palette this lipstick has a strong plastic strawberry fragrance and scent. I feel like they were trying to capture that quintessential Sanrio eraser, gum, stationary fragrance but they didn’t quite get it right.
This formula is thick and creamy with a glossy finish initially that sets to a matte one with a minute or so. Once set the matte finish is pretty much bulletproof. It won’t fade nor transfer and will stick around until you remove it with an oil-based eye and lip remover. I find the formula applies easily on my dry lips with a smooth, even finish. The finish remains smooth throughout the day without migration or transfer issues. It doesn’t crack nor flake as the day progresses and color remains as fresh and true as the initial application after six+ hours of wear. I didn’t feel like it was drying at all and the color was very lightweight. For someone that dislikes liquid lipstick I thought this formula was fairly comfortable to wear and didn’t feel suffocated by it for the several hours it was on my lips. Liquid lipstick tends to feel dry and sometimes tight on my lips but I had no such issues with this.
The color is bright, fun, and playful. It’s a bright fuchsia pink that will pair up quite nice with the My Melody Eyeshadow Palette also available in this collection.
Wet n Wild My Melody Liquid Matte Lip Color will be available for a limited time starting July 21st with the rest of the Wet n Wild My Melody and Kuromi Makeup Collection.
Wet n Wild My Melody Liquid Matte Lip Color in Sweetie Pie is one of two new, limited edition long-wearing liquid lipsticks launching for Summer 2020 in the new Wet n Wild X My Melody and Kuromi Makeup Collection. This is a thick, creamy formula that goes on glossy at first but sets to a matte finish with a minute. It has a smooth, even application and didn’t feel dry or tight during the wear. It does wear long and strong for at seven plus hours and does require a lip or makeup remover of some sort to get it off. I felt comfortable wearing it all day without my lips feeling dry! The pigment was bright and didn’t fade throughout the day!
