Wet n Wild x My Melody x Kuromi Blushlighter Palette Review & Swatches

4 stars out of 5

My Melody x Kuromi x Wet n Wild Blushlighter Palette ($7.99) is a new, limited edition blush and highlighter palette with a quad for four shades inspired by Sanrio characters My Melody and her rival Kuromi. The palette is part of the new Wet n Wild x My Melody x Kuromi that launches on July on July 21st at wetnwildbeauty.com and sanrio.com as well as at ulta.com (in stores as well), Walgreens (in stores) CVS (in stores), and at target.com.

I’ve already featured the Wet n Wild Kuromi Eyeshadow Palette in a review I did last week. That palette is exclusively dedicated to shades inspired by Kuromi but the Wet n Wild x My Melody x Kuromi Blushlighter Palette is actually split into two shade groupings one that represents My Melody and the other Kuromi.

Wet n Wild x My Melody x Kuromi Blushlighter Palette comes in a hard plastic black compact with a clear lid and looks a lot like last year’s Wet n Wild Pac-Man High Score Blush Palette. There’s a cute little print of My Melod and Kuromi on the left hand corner of the compact.

Inside you’ll find two blush shades and one highlighter. The top two shades are dedicated to My Melody and the bottom represent Kumori. My Melody’s highlighter has a raised heart embossment and Kuromi’s blush has a skull one. I’m personally a fan of the My Melody shades. Her highlighter is a pretty light golden pink that’s has a fine micro shimmer. It applies and blends quite easily giving my cheeks a pretty glow. Her blush is a dark raspberry pink with excellent pigmentation and a satiny semi-matte finish! The shade is quite powdery but applies and blend seamlessly. I’m wearing both in my photo below.

Kuromi’s shades are a bit difficult to pull off and a little goes a long way with both. Her highlighter is a light silvery lavender and blush is a mauvish purple. I found the purple was a bit harsh on my cheeks and made me look like I had played in the mud but you can soften the appearance of the shade with a bit of the highlighter which sheers it out and makes it easier to wear.

Both highlighters have a fine micro shimmer with a soft texture that is a bit loose and powder but not as much as the blush which are way more powdery but not chalky nor dry. The pigment is excellent on both blushes and they wear for a good six to eight hours without fading.

The palette has a strong strawberry plastic-like fragrance. The scent is intentional and it’s a fun extra that may make you think of a trip to the Sanrio store.

I liked the palette a lot but I would have liked it if Kuromi’s shades were as wearable for me My Melody’s. All in all, a cute, pretty selection of shades that give cheeks a glowing flush of color.

Wet n Wild x My Melody x Kuromi Blushlighter Palette is a new, limited edition palette that contains two highlighters and two blushes with a total weight of 0.71 oz and a price of $7.99. The palette has a strong strawberry plastic fragrance which is intentional. There are two blush shades were that have a soft, powdery texture that weren’t dry nor chalky and blended well. Both were pigmented! There are also two highlighters both of which have a fine micro shimmer that applied and blended very well without looking frosty nor clinging to drier areas on my face.

Pros

  • Pigmented blushes.
  • Cute!
  • Affordable.
  • Applied and blended well with an excellent wear time.

Cons

  • Darker blush shade might be a little difficult to pull off for some skin tones.
  • Strawberry plastic scent might be a bit much for sensitive users.

Who

Wet n Wild x My Melody x Kuromi Blushlighter Palette is a great pick for collector’s of Sanrio products but also, a really nice blush and highlighter palette.

I purchased this item.
