Hipdot Reese’s Peanut Butter Milk Chocolate Pressed Pigment Palette Review & Swatches
Hipdot Reese’s Peanut Butter Milk Chocolate Pressed Pigment Palette ($16) is one of two new, limited edition six-pan pressed pigment palettes inspired by Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and part of the new HipDot x Reese’s Makeup Collection.
This adorable little palette is scented like chocolate and peanut butter and features three mattes, one glitter, and two shimmery shades of eyeshadow that will instantly give you peanut butter cup vibes. Hipdot did such a great job really capturing all elements of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup right down to the packaging. You got a peanut butter shade that represents the yummy creamy center of a peanut butter cup along with a deep, dark chocolate that represents the outer yummy chocolate of the cup! And of course, a bright yellow and bold orange that represent the popular packaging of a Reese’s cup! It’s just such a fun, vibrant, and bold shade range. Sadly, this is a pressed pigment palette though so many shades aren’t eye safe and can cause irritation or staining and the glitter shade is for body and face but not recommended for eye use as it is chunky. If you are planning on using any of these shades (except the glitter! that’s not something I’d recommend for eye use) on your eyes just make sure you aren’t sensitive to certain dyes as you could get an eye infection or worst. Secondly, I always make sure to wear a good primer followed by a prep of powder over my lid to prevent staining when using pressed pigments. I did take one for the team here and used the shades on my eyes but always remember to be safe when using pressed pigments.
I admit I didn’t want to open this collection when it arrived. The packaging is just so adorable that I just wanted to keep it in the bags and not rip into them! Each piece comes wrapped in a bright foil package with the Reese’s emblem. The palette itself also has the Reese’s elbem and is a bright orange cardboard compact with a mirror and a cute little Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup decorating the lower right hand side.
As I said above the shades really represent a peanut butter cup well! Well, maybe the Peanut Butter color might be a bit darker than actual peanut butter but it’s still a very gorgeous reddish brown that goes well with the other colors in this collection. The only shade that may be a little out of place is Candy with is an shimmering off white. But all in all, I think they really nailed the shade round up here.
The mattes are incredible. So smooth, so silky, not super powdery, and crazy pigmented. A little of these shades goes a very, very, very long way! They blend and buff out beautifully with a smooth, flawless, seamless look on lids. Hipdot should do some matte singles like this! I’d buy ’em!
Now, I don’t like glitter. I actually hate it in palettes but this glitter is wow! Holy cow. This is creamy gel with a strong brown base which is something you don’t normally get with glitter. You get the sparkle of the glitter but that brown shade also shines through and it almost appears like you applied a brown shade and patted the glitter over it. It’s a very nice effect and a shame it can’t be used on eyes as it would really look amazing! Sadly, it is pretty messy to apply though with lots of fall out.
The two shimmer shades were a little troublesome as they are a bit flakier especially Candy which applied sheerer and frosty! Sweet was the better of the two with a smoother almost creamy consistency. Compared to the mattes these two shades were less pigmented. I wish these were both a bit more sparkly and less frosty but they still accent the deeper browns very nicely!
I had no issues with the shades staining my lids and they did remove easily however, I used a MAC Shadow Pot, eyeshadow primer, and a bit of powder before applying them. They didn’t crease nor fade on me but the shimmer shades did have a bit of fall out under my eyes. The palette doesn’t quite smell like a Reese’s but you do get a faint chocolate and peanut butter fragrance from it but nothing too strong!
All in all, Hipdot Reese’s Peanut Butter Milk Chocolate Pressed Pigment Palette was a hit for me. I just sometimes forget makeup can be fun and this reminded me of that! I had a blast with this! I literally spent 45 minutes doing some really wild looks with it (maybe I’ll post those soon!). If you like Reese’s or just want to create a vibrant look for Summer the Hipdot Reese’s Peanut Butter Milk Chocolate Pressed Pigment Palette is worth picking up!
Where to buy
Hipdot Reese’s Peanut Butter Milk Chocolate Pressed Pigment Palette is a new, limited edition six pan pressed pigment palette that’s $16 and 0.28 oz in size. The palette is not intended for eye use however, I did use them on my eyes without any staining or irritation issues however, I do advise proceeding with caution if you do use them on your eyes. The palette is made up of one glitter shade for face and body (not eyes), two shimmers, and three mattes. Out of the six shades that mattes were my favorite formula! These are richly pigmented shades and a little goes a long way! They blended smooth and flawlessly without being powdery or dry! The shimmers I experienced a bit of fall out with and they did have a flakier formula and the finish appeared a bit frosty on my lids. The glitter shade is very pigmented as well with a heavy dose of glitter! It’s a little difficult to master the shade since it is so pigmented and also, gritty, but with the proper brush you can definitely work some magic with this color. The colors lasted well on me without creasing or fading. The palette does smell like chocolate and peanut butter but the fragrance is subtle.
- Very pigmented.
- Affordable.
- Fun, cute packaging.
- Mattes are formulated beautifully!
- Shimmers are a bit frosty.
- Sadly, the glitter is gorgeous but not eye safe (I was tempted to use it with Glitter Glue Primer but it’s a bit too gritty for me and I didn’t chance it!).
Hipdot Reese’s Peanut Butter Milk Chocolate Pressed Pigment Palette is a must for both lovers of bold, beautiful makeup and collectors!
