Bed Bath & Beyond May Go Out Of Business

Well, it’s not new news but Bed Bath & Beyond is warning they may be going out of business. I mean, we’ve heard they were closing a ton of stores, we heard they were going bankrupt, and we listened to my story of woe at my own store recently and the lack of inventory but they are finally admitting that they may go out of business soon due to stock levels hitting an all-time low in 30 years.

The company is seeking final bankruptcy and released the following statement:
“The Company continues to consider all strategic alternatives including restructuring or refinancing its debt, seeking additional debt or equity capital, reducing or delaying the Company’s business activities and strategic initiatives, or selling assets, other strategic transactions and/or other measures, including obtaining relief under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, these measures may not be successful….”

I’m kind of sad to hear this and concerned for their other stores like Harmon’s and Christmas Tree Store. Will they suffer the same fate? I’ve always found Bed Bath & Beyond pretty expensive but I did shop there particularly because they always had some interesting items in their beauty section and also, a really cool International Food section (both of which were removed from the store I go to). I think this one can be chalked up to Amazon partially and bigger box stores like Target and Walmart as Bed Bath & Beyond couldn’t keep up with the price points offered from those stores.

I’ll keep you updated on this as it progresses.

Will you miss Bed Bath & Beyond?

They have been way overpriced for YEARS so this doesn’t shock me. They closed the one by my house last year actually.

truly the prices were pretty crazy! I think mine will prob close soon too!

They closed my local Bed Bath & Beyond recently, and I really miss them. My store had a really good beauty department and a large sample/travel size selection.

Mine too! It’s sad because it was removed a while ago (before things went bad). And we also had a huge international food section with chocolates and crisps from the UK!

No. I will not. Frankly, I did not have time to shop there. Mine did not have beauty or foods. As a busy working parent there was no time to go there and wander. Target was better for things as I could also pick up a gallon of milk and diapers or kids’ items along with the stuff I would buy from BBB like a pillow.

BB&B will always have a special place in my heart. My fave wall art that I’ve had for almost 10 years now was purchased from there. They were always a great place to find specialty items that you couldn’t get at Target or Wally World. I’m not surprised that they’re (likely) going under but I will miss it!

I miss the glory days when it was packed full of amazing stuff. Sadly, things have gone downhill 🙁

The problem in my area was that they moved farther away from my house. Shopping in my area has become pretty dismal, with three malls going out of business in the last 20 years. I used to like Bed Bath and Beyond years ago, when they were closer and fairly competitive in their pricing.

Coming out of college recently, Bed Bath & Beyond is only essential for freshmen students moving across state/ country to furnish their dorms.

Also, I keep getting 20% off coupons from Bed Bed & Beyond. I got a $150 desk that was already $80 off and got it for $56 at the end of it.

I can’t remember the last time I shopped at Bed, Bath and Beyond. There really isn’t much merchandise sold there that I cannot find at Target, Walmart or Amazon. There are no Harmon stores near where I live, but there are several Christmas Tree Shop locations. I love CTS but honestly I don’t shop there all that often because the stores are so busy and crowded. Since they are a discount store, I think they’ll be OK.

I think they are going bankrupt due to some stock market shenanigans, or something along those lines.
