Sol de Janeiro Rio Radiance Isn’t New But Still Pretty!

Sol de Janeiro Rio Radiance Perfume Mist and Rio Radiance Illuminating Body Cream have arrived just in time for Spring Break and Summer 2023. Rio Radiance is Saol De Janeiro’s latest tropical scent creation and it’s definitely different for the brand and exactly what they promised it would be but it isn’t new. But, there’s a catch! It isn’t new. It’s actually a rerun from the trio of scents that were released for Summer 2022. Remember those? So, Rio Radiance is in fact Sol de Janeiro’s Tan Lines fragrance from Summer 2022 and it’s now available permanently. I failed to realize this until I purchased it and smelled it. I drove myself crazy for about an hour trying to figure out where I had smelled this scent before only to realize I own it already in the form of Tan Lines!

I admit that out of those three fragrances that were launched last year and sold out super fly fast Tan Lines would probably be the scent I would least likely bring back. It’s lovely but I think the other two scents were probably better. That being said, Sol de Janeiro might surprise us and bring those back as well for Summer 2023.

This is the quintessential beach scent! It isn’t a gourmand in my opinion but a very straightforward tanning oil scent. They call it a solar floral and that’s very accurate as it has that warm, beachy, head floral note that reminds me of Hawaiian flowers.

First spray I get a powdery Tuberose but you’ll get a little peak of coconut and vanilla as it settles and dries down on your skin! This is where the tanning oil vibe comes from. It’s not full-on Banana Boat but it’s very reminiscent of a day at the pool or the beach! Last year, I was combining this scent with Bum Bum Body Cream! The two go very nicely together! You get that tropical cake note from the Bum Bum Cream along with the warm, sunny floral tanning oil vibe from this. Together they create a really pretty day at the beach scent. This year however, we don’t have to do that as they released a matching Rio Radiance Illuminating Body Cream to go along with the Perfume Mist.

This is possibly my favorite body cream formula from Sol de Janeiro as it’s thick yet lightweight on my skin and absorbs easily without being sticky or tacky. It also, leaves behind a very nice golden sheen. Nothing dramatic mind you but just a nice touch of a sheen on my legs, shoulders, and arms! It also, contains a bit of mica which leaves small, fine bits of sparkle which weren’t terribly noticeable but are there. One of the disappointing aspects of Tan Lines was the fact it had short wear, as do all Sol de Janeiro scents. But with the body cream, you’ll find it lasts a lot longer and sticks around for a while when you layer!

Sol de Janeiro Rio Radiance isn’t new by any means but it’s still very pretty and perfect for the warmer weather ahead. It’s not really my favorite scent from the brand but it def brings those Summer vibes.
