Too Faced Kissing Jelly Hydrating Lip Oil Gloss ($22) is a new hybrid lipgloss and lip oil formula available in six delicious flavors that launched for Spring 2024 which contain Sunflower and Jojoba Oils to smooth and hydrate lips. Too Faced was kind enough to send me some of these and I’ll happily admit I was a naysayer when I first saw these. Because you know, I’m a grumpy girl lately with some of these new product launches.

But they caught me unaware and I found myself smiling when I tried them for the first time because they reminded me why I love makeup. They kind of brought me back to really old-school lipgloss days when having flavored lipgloss was the most exciting thing in the world. Hell, not even a gloss but Cherry Chapstick was a HUGE deal back then. I think Chapstick is sort of the gateway drug into the world of makeup for a lot of us. I swear I blame my dad for making me love makeup because the man, always had a Cherry Chapstick in his coat pocket during the Winter and I’d steal it (there was also, that one time I ate an entire tube of it).

I know ten-year-olds are out there purchasing Drunk Elephant but when I was growing up just getting a flavored lipgloss was a super big deal event. I cherished some of mine. And to this day I still love flavored lipglosses. I know, I know. A lot of people hate flavoring anything in their makeup but I think it adds to the fun of using a gloss!

Too Faced Kissing Jelly Hydrating Lip Oil Gloss is a very nostalgic type of product and testimony that the brand is looking to garner attention from a younger demographic. Way younger than me that’s for sure but they have a grown-up price tag at $22 each for 0.15 oz of product. They do resemble Fat Oil Lip Drip Vegan Lip Oil packaging-wise but NYX’s version is a bit more budget-friendly at $9 each! The formulas are a good deal different though and the applicator which was a problem for me with NYX, wasn’t an issue with Too Faced’s version.

These are available in shimmer and non-shimmer finishes but probably don’t need to go out there and buy every single shade. They all look the same on my lips and although there’s a bit of tint on some of the darker shades like Raspberry, they all pretty much look clear. The shimmer is rather subtle in the shades that have it and will look best on top of a lipstick or stain to bring out the shimmer a bit more versus on bare lips where it’s harder to see.

This formula is a jelly-like consistency that leaves lips feeling quite hydrated. The more you apply the more glossier the formula gets. Initially, it feels like you’re applying a balm but as you apply more the heat from your lips thins the consistency out and it gets glossier and glossier with each layer you apply. I’m prone to drier lips and it feels quite hydrating on me. The wear is a bit shorter at around two hours. You need to keep it around for touchups! I have on Raspberry below! I didn’t take pictures of every single shade on my lips because they are subtly tinted and you can’t see the difference between shades!

As I said the flavors are fun. They really taste like their names not to mention they aren’t bitter or perfume-y. We got Grape Soda, Cotton Candy, Raspberry, Pina Colada, Bubblegum, and Sour Watermelon. The flavors are sort of old school! Sweet and yummy!

Too Faced Kissing Jelly Hydrating Lip Oil Gloss is a bit expensive for a lip oil slash lipgloss but if you really love lip oils and use them chronically this might be a nice little treat yo self kind of moment. I’d have given it four stars if it was a smidge cheaper but I deducted a few stars due to the price and the shorter wear. But overall, totally brought back good memories for me!

Where to buy

Ulta Sephora Too Faced

Too Faced Kissing Jelly Hydrating Lip Oil Gloss is a new hydrating lip oil slash lipgloss available in six shades that launched with the Too Faced Spring 2024 Collection. Each of the glosses is 0.15 oz in size, $22, and comes housed in a chubby, short little barrel with an oversized sponge applicator for application. Each gloss features a unique flavor like Cotton Candy, Grape Soda, Bubble Gum, and more! They are quite tasty, and sweet, and bring back memories of old-school lipglosses. The formula is thick and jelly-like initially but the more you apply the thinner the formula gets and the glossier. All the shades are sheer without any real pigment but some of the darker shades do have a better tint like Raspberry. Too Faced launched these in a shimmer and a non-shimmer finish but the shimmer is quite subtle on bare lips and looks best over lipstick or stain. The wear is around two hours at which time it leaves lips hydrated and quite smooth.

Pros

  • Yummy flavors!
  • Moisturizing.

Cons

  • Short wear.
  • Shades all look the same, sheer, not much pigment.

I keep looking at these but I have so many lip products rn.
Your cherry chapstick story reminds me of my first love, Bonne Bell Lipsmackers Caramel Corn; it was a giant one on a rope necklace and I can still remember how it tasted/ smelled. I would slather it all over my mouth, lick it off with 10- 15 minutes and slather more on. Oh nostaligia. Oh and also

I actually bought 2 of them, Sour watermelon and Sweet Cotton Candy! Not that I needed any They do take me back to my school years. I like the consistency and the smell, I wish it lasted longer but it dissipates quite quickly. I like that it’s not sticky but I don’t find it particularly moisturising. I might buy a couple more…just because I fell a victim of Too Faced marketing
Love your make up in the pic above
