An End of Another Era as Forever 21 Shuts Down Operations in the US

Whether it was for the latest Hello Kitty collaboration, a pair of cutesy flats, or a fuzzy fox pendant on a 24 inch chain Forever 21 was the spot to shop it! Forever 21 was a vibe ten plus years ago and still is when you want some quick fashion but their days are numbers as Forever 21 prepares to shut down all stores in the US.

Forever 21 has filed for a bankruptcy a second time and sadly, there isn’t any coming back from it this time around. As of now the stores and the company’s U.S. website will remains open but that will soon change as the company starts to wind down operations. Sadly, Forever 21 is one of those dinosaur stores that depends heavily on foot traffic from their mall locations. Unfortunately, cheaper fast fashion retailers are a dime a dozen and Forever 21 simply can’t compete.

Forever 21 joins a ton of retailers who have closed or are preparing to close soon like Joann’s, Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and many others.

What surprises me most is we haven’t heard many beauty brands closing lately! That’s a good thing obviously but I did think we’d hear news in 2025 of a few brands that might tumble but it hasn’t come to pass yet. I wish them all well because all these closings are really sad.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse.
