Smashbox Crystalized Makeup Collection Brings More Crystal and Gemstone Magic To Spring 2019 Beauty Trends

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

The new Smashbox Crystalized Makeup Collection launched today for Spring 2019 in collaboration with the Hoodwitch and it follows right along with the trend we’ve seen from other collections that recently launched like the It Cosmetics Gemstone Brush Therapy Duo Collection and Revlon Crystal Aura Collection.

I’m not really a huge crystal or gemstone believer. Shrug. Sorry!? Smashbox collaborated with a crystal expert, Bri Luna (the Hoodwitch). I have no idea who she is. Again, I’m sorry. According to Smashbox they teamed up with Bri to celebrate beauty rituals inspired by the transformative quality of crystals. The collection is infused with crystals to enhance your magic (I may or may not be rolling my eyes).

I’m obviously the worst kind of person to talk about collections like this. I’m not knocking those who believe in the magic of crystals, etc…! I just don’t. Makeup should be fun but sometimes it feels like brands just over reach. In this case, it feels very much like Smashbox extended themselves too much. That being said the collection actually looks really nice. I’m just not a believer in auras, crystals, my horoscope telling me whether or not this month I’m going to strike it rich or not, and whether or not Mercury being in retrograde is going to screw with my day.

Crystals and auras aside here’s what the Smashbox Crystalized Makeup Collection looks like!

And Claire’s Makeup Tests Positive For Asbestos Again

beauty news

If you’re a mom and your young daughter is taking her first steps into the land of makeup I imagine you’ll hit up Claire’s at some point. Claire’s always has some rather cute, fun products for girls that are just starting to evolve from Barbie’s to lipstick! Hell, I shop at Claire’s sometimes because who doesn’t want a sparkly new iPhone case!

Just a warning though if you do shop there or you shop their for a younger girl or boy in your life know that Claire’s has makeup has tested positive for asbestos again! Yup, back in December 2017 they had the same issue and recently the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on warned consumers not to use certain makeup sold by Claire’s after they were found to contain asbestos.

Claire’s denies the claims and has released the following statement:

“There is no evidence that any products sold by Claire’s are unsafe. The recent test results the FDA have shared with us show significant errors. Specifically, the FDA test reports have mischaracterized fibers in the products as asbestos, in direct contradiction to established EPA and USP criterion for classifying asbestos fibers. Despite our efforts to discuss these issues with the FDA, they insisted on moving forward with their release. We are disappointed that the FDA has taken this step, and we will continue to work with them to demonstrate the safety of our products.”

My motto is better safe than sorry no matter what statement they released!

Makeup Hacks for Getting Those Popping Metallic Eyes and Glowing Cheeks for Your Spring Looks

I was compensated by a brand or company but all thoughts and opinions are my own and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.

Metallic eyes and luminous cheeks are back for Spring 2019 and I’m having a melt down about how to best achieve them. Seriously, I shouldn’t be allowed within 5 feet of a highlighter! I’m just too heavy handed with them and that age old saying of “You can see my highlighter from space” becomes a serious reality for me. Getting the perfect luminous glow can be a difficult task for some (like me!). Likewise, for getting a perfect metallic eye look without looking too sparkly or frosty.

I round up a few tricks and makeup hacks I use to get the metallic eye and luminous cheek look for Spring that might help you out.

Take a look!
