A Double Cleansing Routine That Won’t Strip Your Skin

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.

Ahh the Korean Double Cleansing Method truly a great way to keep your complexion looking bright, clean, and fresh. It’s also an equally great way to strip your skin and make it dry!

If you’re not familiar with the double cleanse method it’s one that Korean women use for clear skin and involves washing your face using two steps and two different cleaners. The first cleanser is typically an oil-base ones and the second is typically a water-based cleanser. The idea is not only to get your skin squeaky clean but also, to remove any residue left behind by your initial cleanser as well as restore moisture that initial cleanse might have stripped away.

I always find double cleansing tricky since I have drier skin and this isn’t always a great method of facial cleansing for such a skin type. I’ve settled on a few methods one of which is an cleansing oil followed by a micellar water. The second one is a cleansing oil followed by a cream cleanse such as Pond’s Cold Cream from Japan. Another method I use cleansing oil followed by Good Cera Super Ceramide Foaming Wash. And lastly, I tend to use a cleansing balm or oil and follow up with a second cleanse using micellar water! This is a great method because it isn’t stripping at all for my drier skin!

Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse was a great product that launched last year but it’s since been taken off shelves at Target but I do think it available online. It’s such a great all-in-one cleanser that takes care of the double cleanse routine for you! This worked great for my dry skin however, I tended to go through it very quickly due to the fact it was split in half.

However, I’ve since settled on the following method below. It gets my skin super clean plus it doesn’t strip.

Here’s what I use in my double cleansing routine that doesn’t strip my skin!

Maybe Kopari Starry Eye Balm Will Impress Me More Than Becca’s Anti-Fatigue Under Eye Primer

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Products like Kopari Starry Eye Balm ($28) always sound great in theory it’s just when you get to using them that you realize they are more talk than action. I tried out Becca’s Anti-Fatigue Under Eye Primer and wasn’t terribly impressed with the formula but I’m putting a little more faith in Kopari’s Starry Eye Balm in the hopes it is as moisturizing as it sounds!

This eye balm contains coconut and caffeine that acts to de-puff eyes and hydrate it. Coconut oil hydrates your eyes while coffee oil depuffs them and Hyaluronic Acid plumps and smooths finer lines while helping to retain moisture under the delicate eye area.

Apparently the balm turns into a lightweight oil upon application. It does also promise to illuminate eyes as well and I hope this doesn’t mean this contains some sort of shimmer or sparkle as that doesn’t do well under my eyes and only acts to put a spotlight on my puffiness and finer lines! I quickly glanced over the ingreidents and it is formulated with some amazing oils.

Cocos Nucifera (Organic Coconut) Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Candelilla Wax, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa Butter), Ricinus Communis (Castor) Oil, Hydrolyzed Jojoba Esters, Jojoba Esters, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Wax, Coffea Arabica (Coffee) Oil, Caffeine, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Citrullus Lanatus (Watermelon) Seed Oil, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Bismuth Oxychloride (Natural Mineral), Menthyl PCA, Rosehip Seed Oil, Ethylhexyl Hydroxystearate, Camellia Japonica (Tsubaki) Seed Oil, Melia Azadirachta (Neem) Extract, Moringa Pterygosperma (Moringa) Seed Oil, Rosa Damascena (Bulgarian Rose) Oil.

What do you think of this formula?

Worth a try?

Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera Available Today!

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

A sneak peek of the new Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera is available today at ulta.com and was posted on Instagram this morning. It looks like an eyeshadow palette and if I’m placing bets it is probably filled with blues, turquoises, bronzes, and sandy golds! I’m going to say it’ll be along the lines of Urban Decay’s Beached Eyeshadow Palette.

I hope I’m right as I really love a combination of shades like that for Summer looks! It’s a refreshing change for ABH if I am right because a lot of their palettes are all about warmer nude looks!

What do you think Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera will reveal to us?

Update: They revealed it! It’s actually a lot brighter than I expected with a lot less blue or turquoise. Hmmm! Still gorgeous and bright and funky for Summer. What do you think?

It’s available today at Ulta.com and Beautylish.com.

Etude House KitKat Play Color Eyes Mini Review & Swatches

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.
2 stars out of 5

Etude House KitKat Play Color Eyes Mini is a new 6-pan eyeshadow palette inspired by the popular chocolate bar that launched in Korea earlier this month and quickly sold out. Etude House launched these in two different shade selections one of which is original KitKat we all know and love and includes a selection of chocolate-y shades with a fantastic red thrown in to match the red wrapper the chocolate comes in. The second palette’s is a cooler selection of creams and pinks that represents Kitkat Strawberry Tiramisu which is a popular flavor in Asia.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen collections like this come out of Korea. Korea does a lot of different collaborations with a variety of brands and characters from Disney, etc…! The Face Shop had a Coca-Cola Collection, Innisfree recently did a Toy Story Collection, and the list goes on and on and on.

But since KitKat is a candy/chocolate I think it caused a bit more buzz. People like chocolate right? And chocolate and makeup? Yup, that’s a lot to get excited about.
