Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Retinol Cream Has Me Doing My Best McKayla Maroney Smirk

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Drunk ElephantA-Passioni Retinol Cream ($74) sounds very, very exciting! A 1% Retinol that acts to improve skin’s texture while diminishing fine lines and wrinkles, this powerful treatment contains Vitamin F which contains a blend of oils and lipids that protect against skin against environmental stressors.

Right now, this is pretty much the product that’s on every beauty editor’s lips and being promoted heavily across social media. It sounds like a dream come true for sure. A 1% Retinol is a very powerful solution to treat aging and the promise of restoring your skin’s tone and erasing sue damage as well as treating finer lines definitely will draw in a lot of skincare junkies in.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m intrigued. I don’t use retinol as of yet but it’s probably about time I start doing so!

But I gotta admit I’m skeptical. Drunk Elephant is a hit or miss situation for me, mostly misses if I’m honest! But what really has me smirking every so slightly is the fact this launched on Sephora’s website about two days ago (maybe less) and it already has several five star reviews. Most reviews state they used the product a week as they were able to purchase it in store a week before launch. I admit, I might be sitting here smirking a little bit as can I trust these reviews. Are these real reviews? Also, if they are real, can I trust someone who only used the product a mere week? It’s a a slippery slope here and I think I have to buy it and try it myself versus relying on all these raving reviews I’m seeing….!

What do you think?

Is Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Retinol Cream all that and the bag of chips they promise us?

Or am I setting myself up for another fail from the brand?

Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Lip Cream Review & Swatches

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.
5 stars out of 5

Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Lip Cream ($7.99) are a new range of soft, butter lip balms with an SPF 15 that launched in 12 shade selections for Spring 2019 at the drugstore.

I was pretty excited to find Murumuru Butter Lip Cream at my local Harmons in a few shades. The entire shade range isn’t quite available in stores yet though but as soon as they do fully launch I’ll be hauling a few more shades considering how much I love them. At the moment Physicians Formula has these available on their site which is an outlet they’ve been using for the past several months to launch new products. It does seem to take a bit longer for their newer products to pop into stores as they appear to be cutting out the middleman (the drugstore) in favor of generating traffic and sales to their own freshly launched website. This makes it challenging to find any of their new items in stores which I find a bit irritating since I’m Miss Frugal Gourmet when it comes to paying for shipping.

None the less, I guess I got lucky because these were at Harmon’s and I snatched up the shades they had available.

Here’s my thoughts, review, and swatches of the new Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Lip Cream!

Aveeno Positively Radiant Maxglow Serum + Primer Tries a Little Too Hard

2 stars out of 5

Aveeno Positively Radiant Maxglow Serum + Primer ($19.99) is a new hydrating facial serum that acts to not only hydrate skin and seal in moisture but also illuminates as well as primes it for makeup. According to Aveeno it’ll provide a lit-from-within-glow while multitasking as your facial primer and your serum all-in-one and that all sounds fantastic but I find that products that set out to perform a variety of different things are trying a little to hard and never quite succeed at accomplishing all that they promise.

None the less I was determined to try out Aveeno Positively Radiant Maxglow Serum + Primer to see how things went.

Maybelline Color Sensational Made For All Lipstick Review & Swatches

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.
5 stars out of 5

Maybelline Color Sensational Made For All Lipstick ($7.49 or Buy 1, Get 1 50% Off at Ulta) is a new collection of universal lipstick shades that was created to compliment a wide array of skin tones. Available in seven shades these lipstick colors were created with specially selected pigmented and tested over 50 different skin tones to be universally flattering. I think we all sort of cringe whenever the makeup world throws “universally flattering” at us. I’m of the mentality that you should wear whatever shades you like to wear but I’m also logically when it comes to certain nude lipstick shades I can’t pull off or certain eyeshadows that are too dark and make me look tired.

I like that Maybelline created these shades but I’m unsure if they are perfect for all skin tones. I personally have a hard time figuring out what shade compliments my own skin tone and never would feel like I have enough knowledge to recommend a shade for someone with a different tone than my own. That being said, I can speak from my own experience with the shades I purchased and I have to say I was pretty pleased with them and can see myself buying more. They just worked for me and I loved that and have hopes that other skin tones can say the same thing!
