I struggle lately to find honest reviews on Amazon, Sephora, Ulta, and other retailers. Not only am I convinced retailers delete bad reviews (I’ve experienced it personally when I wrote a review on Sephora but it never appeared) but I’m also frustrated and irritated by consumers who get free products in exchange for raving reviews. I’m amazed at the amount of reviews on a product that shows “coming soon” on Sephora’s website but has over 200 positive reviews of how great it is. Sure, I understand the product was sent to people in advance but all positive reviews!?

Amazon is probably one of my biggest letdowns when it comes to reviewing not only products but books. I enjoy quite a few self-published authors that upload to Amazon but it’s beyond frustrating when I’m eagerly awaiting a book release and it’s been reviewed dozens of times over by readers who got an advanced copy and every one of those reviews has five stars. I’ll get the buy the book, download it, and read it, and it’s not a five-star read. Is anyone honest lately? Also, has anyone purchased some dodad for their kitchen or bathroom and it comes from the Amazon seller with a little card offering to give you either the same item or another item to try in exchange for a review?

The NARS Sweet Temptation Collection featuring the new, limited-edition Afterglow Irresistible Eyeshadow Palette for Spring 2024 will launch at Sephora on December 24th. This collections features new shades of After Glow Liquid Blush as well as new shades of Afterglow Sensual Shine Lipstick.

I’m so torn on this release because I’m oddly excited about it but also, I’m like really, this looks like every other eyeshadow palette they’ve released in the last few years. I gotta say the Afterglow Irresistible Eyeshadow Palette is something I can see myself adding to cart but also, I just snagged the NARS Endless Nights Eyeshadow Palette that launched for Holiday 2023 on sale and aside from a few shimmery shades they look a lot alike. I’m tempted but I’m going to try and see if I wait for a sale because NARS ends up clearancing out items fairly quickly lately. Their collections feature a lot of reddish, Orgasm, Cranberry shades lately. Every palette that launches just gives off Orgasm vibes. Or am I seeing things? That being said, I still think the Afterglow Irresistible Eyeshadow Palette is actually very pretty!

I just wanted to do a quick PSA for my fellow online shoppers about the importance of making sure you got all your packages this year! I recently was reading a Reddit about how Fenty Beauty hadn’t shipped an order and was impossible to get in touch with. I’ve seen similar problems with Too Faced. I haven’t personally had issues until recently which I’ll get into shortly. But just a friendly warning be sure you’re checking up and making sure you got all your packages because let’s face it we’re all busy. Busy with the Holiday season, busy with work, and life. Sometimes we just forget. Also, I know I do about 98% of my Holiday shopping online and that means I’m getting a lot of packages and it’s hard to keep track of them all! I remember last year I forgot about an item I had purchased on Mercari and about a week after it was “delivered” I realized the Post Office had lost it. Sadly, I lost my money on that one (it wasn’t much thankfully). I do get emails and notifications on my phone but again, when you’re busy sometimes you aren’t always keeping track.

I’m also bringing this up because I placed two Kaja Beauty orders on Black Friday. I got the first one super fly fast and I forgot about the second one until recently. So, I scrolled back through my emails and noticed it never shipped. It took two emails to Kaja Beauty to finally get a tracking number and I got the box this past weekend. So, word to the wise check those orders! Make sure they were shipped also, and make sure the delivery service didn’t lose them!

Amazon is legendary for doing this to me too. I get a notice that “my item has arrived” and I go outside and nothing is there and the item comes the next day. It’s my local post office marking the item as delivered when in fact it wasn’t but it’ll magically pop up the next day. This is during the non-holiday season as well! I imagine they are overwhelmed and perhaps they mark it as delivered to appease management or even Amazon. But it can be panic-inducing when you’re looking for a box and it isn’t around. I live in a private home with a long drive plus I have Nest cameras around so I’m not suspecting porch pirates but I do worry about the PO losing it.

If you do a lot of online ordering I always find it’s a good idea to make a folder in your inbox to keep all your invoices in and as items arrive you can either archive the order confirmation email or delete it. It’s a nice and easy way to keep track of everything and to ensure you receive all your items.
