The Ordinary Increases Prices for the New Year

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Deciem has released a statement about The Ordinary price increases that are coming in the New Year! Here’s what they have to say:

“As the world continues to face rising costs, it’s important that we review all areas of our business, to ensure we are able to operate sustainably and responsibly long into the future. This is the way we will bring good products at sensible price points to many more people around the world — and how we will continue to take good care of our team.

Like most businesses, we are facing ongoing rising costs. We have absorbed some of this internally, by changing how we operate. We’ve said goodbye to brands like Hylamide, started to close down low volume categories like Colours, and we will continue to work towards making our supply chain as efficient as possible.

On January 1, you will notice a price adjustment across our products. Though we have kept the changes as reasonable as possible, we wanted to let you know ahead of time, giving you the opportunity to purchase products at their current price in the coming weeks. We remain committed to sensible pricing and the average change is $1.12 USD. As an example, Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA (30ml) will increase from $5.80 to $6.50 USD.

As a reflection of macroeconomic changes, prices will need to increase across most products. However, we have been able to reduce prices across a small handful of products. After shipping over 57 million units since launch, will be reducing the price of our best-selling product, Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%. We found a cost saving in our supply chain, and we are happy to pass this saving on to you. Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% supports the look of smooth, radiant skin and will change from $6.50 to $6 USD from January 1st, 2023.

We value you, the community that shapes us, and welcome all thoughts and questions around this upcoming change in the comments. Thank you for being on this journey with us <3." The price change isn't a dramatic one thankfully and I do love they fully disclosed the price changes versus just slamming us with a sudden change. We've already seen quite a few items in the makeup world going up in price and I suspect it'll be more so as we continue into the New Year. Sadly, it's just a way of life right now. If you are an Ordinary fan and this price change seems dramatic to you now is a good time to stock up on your favorites.

Sephora Holiday Clearance

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Sephora is slowly adding to its sales list and there are a lot of different items popping up on clearance at the moment. It sort of makes me sad as it means the Holiday season is nearly over. A lot of items seem to be selling fast. In particular, I wouldn’t sleep on the Briogeo Gift Sets. Doubt those will be around long!

Here’s a few deals I came across but plenty more are on the website:
Rose Inc Mini Satin Lipstick Set $15
Clinique Must-Have Makeup Set $24
Patrick Ta Major Headlines Blush & Highlighter Palette Vol II $29
Fresh Sugar Collection Lip Care Set $29
Briogeo Superfoods Leave-In Conditioner & Hair Mask Gift Set $33
Briogeo Scalp Revival Shampoo & Don’t Despair, Repair! Hair Mask Gift Set $43
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick $9.50

Enjoy!

Farmacy Wake Up Honey Eye Cream with Brightening Vitamin C Launches with Shady Reviews

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Farmacy Wake Up Honey Eye Cream with Brightening Vitamin C is a new brightening eye cream that contains Vitamin C to treat dark circles. This new formula also, contains a blend of hydrating honey to moisturize drier eyes and caffeine to treat puffiness. Farmacy is calling it a lightweight formula that acts as a “dark-circle eraser” and that their clinical studies showed dark circles reduction by 100% in those who used the product. It also contains a cranberry peptide to smooth crow’s feet and fight wrinkles over time.

I happen to love Farmacy skincare but honestly, I don’t always buy into eye creams that promise to completely erase dark circles. I find that debatable. That being said I was very happy to see Farmacy introducing a new eye cream for Spring 2023 but sadly, my excitement died a quick death. I got a text that Sephora just got the item in stock and Rouge Member had early access. Yay! Awesome! I was all prepared to purchase it. It’s $45 a little pricy but I’ve dropped more on eye creams so, I wasn’t too put off by the price. The problem was as soon as I clicked on Sephora’s link I was presented with 274 five star reviews.

Groan.

This totally put me off. Farmacy sent out early releases to a variety of outlets. In return, they asked people to post reviews on Sephora. Great! I’m all about free products and reviews from real people versus youTubers but sadly, these reviews aren’t really helpful at all. It’s just a lot of raving and telling everyone how this immediately cleared up dark circles and puffiness. It totally turned me off and I ended up not purchasing it. I don’t understand why brands do this. Farmacy has a great cult following! I know many of you love their skincare as much as I do. They really don’t have to “buy” reviews with free samples. I think their products speak for themselves. This just seems so shady. But hey, it isn’t only Farmacy doing this. A lot of brands do the same thing lately.

If you check about 99.9% of the 274 reviews were all posted within the last day or 15 hours ago. I should hope these people had the product in their hands at least a month before pouring out their ravings.

Right now I’m a bit salty and won’t be purchasing Farmacy Wake Up Honey Eye Cream with Brightening Vitamin C. Maybe later!

What do you think of this new formula?

Do share!

Tarte Glowlight Skin Filter for Spring 2023

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Tarte Glowlight Skin Filter ($30) is a new all-over glowing skin highlighter that can be used to blur, brighten, and create a luminous glow on skin. Highlighters and eye brightening formulas seem to be going hard for Spring 2023 as everyone tries to capture the success of Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter and E.L.F. Halo Glow Liquid Filter! I know currently there’s a bit of outcry about this as people feel like it’s a similar if not the same formula as Tarte’s Shape Tape Glow Wand and I can’t lie I thought the same. But Tarte is notorious for launching and relaunching similar products (they remind me of NYX in that aspect).

That being said, Glowlight Skin Filter is only available in six shades and Glow Wand is available in eight. It’s also a dollar more at $30 compared to $29. They contain some of the same ingredients which I compared below (the ingredients vary shade to shade on Glowlight) but for the most part, there is a good deal of more hydrating ingredients found in this new formula. The ones I posted were for the shade Sunkissed).

Water/Aqua/Eau, hydrogenated didecene, mica, glycerin, propanediol, squalane, cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 dimethicone, polydecene, hydrogenated styrene/isoprene copolymer, sodium chloride, caprylic/capric triglyceride, sargassum pacificum thallus extract, gardenia taitensis flower extract, hydroxyacetophenone, polyglyceryl-4 isostearate, cetyl dimethicone/bis-vinyldimethicone crosspolymer, 1,2-hexanediol, caprylyl glycol, trisodium ethylenediamine disuccinate, triethoxycaprylylsilane, hoya lacunosa flower extract, sodium hyaluronate, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, tocopherol, alumina, magnesium oxide, pentaerythrityl tetra-di-t-butyl hydroxyhydrocinnamate. (+/-): Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), bismuth oxychloride (CI 77163), iron oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499).

Water/Aqua/Eau, Hydrogenated Didecene, Mica, Glycerin, Propanediol, Squalane, Cetyl Peg/Ppg-10/1 Dimethicone, Isoamyl Laurate, Hydrogenated Styrene/Isoprene Copolymer, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sodium Chloride, Hydroxyacetophenone, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Shea Butter Ethyl Esters, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Hoya Lacunosa Flower Extract, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Phenoxyethanol, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Diamond Powder, Citric Acid. Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163)

This new formula promises to blur, brighten, and hydrate and leaves skin with a dewy glow without looking shimmery or sparkly. It does contain mica so, I’d take the marketing with a grain of salt about being shimmery! I watched the small video on Tarte’s website they have of Jen applying it and I personally didn’t like the look. I screenshotted it below. It just looks a bit too oily for me. I’m really not a fan of glowy or dewy products on my skin. This formula can be worn alone, under your favorite foundation, over your favorite foundation, or just on the higher points of your face for a nice glow.

Without Foundation

With Foundation

No doubt they’ll do great with this. I’m personally not a fan of products like this but I’m sure it’ll fly off shelves as people really loved CT and E.L.F.’s version!

What do you think?

Is Tarte Glowlight Skin Filter something you want to try out?
