Here’s 3 Things I Hate About Myself And How I Make Them Better

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

This may sound vain but I work hard. I never take on anything unless I’m putting 500% into it and pumping the volume up to 10. Work, hobbies, life, friends, family, whatever it is I always give it my all.

This is one thing I can confidently say I like about myself. But for every one thing I like about myself, there are two million other things I hate. My list of self-hate is huge.

Here are 3 things I hate about myself and here’s how I make them better.

A Love List of Being Seen, Travel, Good Ice Cream, and Being Brave

Happy Fri-Yay my beautiful humans!

Tell me about your week. Was it good? Productive? Did you stress it out or were things chill? Are you ready for Fall? It arrives in 11 days! Don’t try and fight me on this! You won’t win. As soon as September 1st hits the Fall decor is going LIVE and I’m getting a PSL Macchiato whether you like it or not. I see all you Summer lovers out there collectively groaning in misery.

Let’s love list it today!

Remember, in life, you should always validate yourself first and foremost. You should acknowledge that you are a good person, that you work hard, that you are out there kicking ass and accomplishing what you set out to do. You need to do this for yourself. It’s very important. Why is it important? Because you need to learn to embrace who you are and love who you are before you can expect anyone else to see your greatness and to love you for it.

But we’re all humans as well and sometimes you don’t realize how much you have this need to be seen, to be heard, to know people are like “Hey, there’s that Muse girl she’s a pretty cool blogger!” even if that’s coming from a stranger on the Internet or someone in the street who was thankful you held the door open for them. Sometimes you need validation and that’s ok. We all need that. I got a little of that myself early this morning and for a moment my head snapped back on my pillow and I was like, well, wow, thanks! I needed to hear that dude!

It made me realize I sometimes forget to tell people I see them and want you to know that I see you and I hear you. I get 200-300 daily comments (sometimes more) on Musings of a Muse (that’s not counting social platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Comments are on approval here and I do that for a very important reason. I like to reply to each and everyone as best I can. If I let the comments go through without being approved first, it confuses who I need to reply to. I like replying to each one of you individually that’s why I keep them under approval until I am ready to reply (sadly, sometimes my real job gets in the way of my blogging life so, I’m sometimes slow going!). It’s very important to me I do that because as I always say time is precious and you’re using your precious time to interact with me and read my babble and it’s important to me that you know I’m seeing you. But I just wanted to take out this moment in my day to say, Hey there, good morning, I see you, you’re doing great, I believe in you, thank you for being here, and damn you got a great ass.

Travel and being brave today is a part of this love list. I’m headed to the West Coast peeps and I’m scared. I am really scared. Travel has always been a very important part of my life. I love seeing new places, meeting new people, eating new foods but COVID has changed all of that in a major way. I hate COVID has made me scared of things I love to do. Going out to eat, hanging out with friends, traveling, going to conventions, concerts…it’s all stuff I used to love doing and its stuff that’s still going on right now but I’m not brave enough to do so many of those things. I’m vaccinated but I’m still concerned about getting sick but most importantly I’m worried I could make someone else sick if I’m asymptomatic. But I’m gonna be brave and I’m going to conquer this fear like I do all things in life. I wanna say to you if you’re feeling scared today or unsure or less than brave for some reason that I know you can do it. You have to sometimes reach down deep for that courage but it’s there! We all have it. You can conquer your fears. Don’t let them rule you!

And I just wanna say I really wish I took a picture of my recent ice cream because people, holy cow, it was ambrosia! Food from the very Gods! It was Miso Ice Cream with Honey Roasted Strawberries and I never inhaled ice cream so quickly in my life (that’s why this post is lacking a picture). It was delicious! I know it sounds like a bizarre flavor but it was so good!
Today this love list is dedicated to you beautiful people.

Here’s to the world seeing and acknowledging you, here’s to damn good ice cream days, here’s to being brave, and here’s to telling yourself that maybe today is the day you need to set out on a new adventure be that traveling somewhere or doing something different like eating a new type of food. Whatever this day brings you, this weekend gives to you, this month tosses your way remember that right now, this very second, you’re alive and you’re here to do all the things you want to do. That makes you very blessed indeed.

I see you, I hear you, I know you’re right here with me on this weird trippy journey into beauty.

But most importantly, see yourself, take a second, listen, whisper to yourself, I am good enough, I kick ass, I am awesome.

Good luck!

Be the good humans I know you are today!

I hope you’ll share your love list with me today.

“I’m Just Sitting Here Watching the Wheels Go Round and Round I Really Love to Watch Them Roll”

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

I do admit that I can be a complete b1tch when it comes to repetitive releases or beauty trends that make a come back. Like many of you I’ve collected and worn makeup for many, many, many years and like many of you I feel like I’ve seen everything to a point that maybe there isn’t anything else to see. Maybe there aren’t any brand new, exciting innovations left. Maybe there are no more “WOW I NEED THAT!” moments to be had. Maybe there is nothing left that will send us into a makeup frenzy.

I know I can be very negative about repetitiveness and I can be b1tchy when beauty trends start repeating themselves. I don’t always like the “what’s old is new again” trend. I want fresh, I want new, I want exciting but maybe we’re just out of ideas at this point.

I realized something about myself though! I kind of just like sitting here watching the wheels go round and round and I kinda really love watching them roll even if they aren’t new and exciting and fresh and innovative and amazing and not evoking that I NEED A BACKUP moment. I don’t think Lennon was talking about makeup when he said that but it does apply here.

Sephora Microsmooth Multi-Tasking Baked Face Palette and Microsmooth Multi-Tasking Baked Face Powder released late last month for the Fall 2021 season and it instantly transported back to really good days with Laura Geller. How far do we need to go back to remember when Baked Blush n Brighten and Balance n Brighter were amazing? 10 years? More? Personally, I feel that the formulas has changed on both products and not for the better….! But that’s neither here nor there, I’m just happy to see baked anything reappearing in my beauty life because I love baked makeup.

Yes, I said it.

I love baked makeup.

I make no apologies for this. Bourjois Paris, in it’s Chanel heyday, was a beautiful thing to behold. I stand by my right to say that and I’m sorry if their baked formula did nothing for you but they rocked my socks right off my feet.

Sadly, I dunno if Sephora’s baked formulas will do the same. And I’m not no illusion that the formula will suddenly become popular again because it was never really popular to begin with.

But if you like baked formulas perhaps you’ll love these! And sometimes it’s ok to like watching the wheel going round and round. And it’s ok to not expect any great changes only re-imaginings of prior releases.
