Essence Before Hyaluronic Acid Makes For the Best Moisture Retention

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Now that you know how to apply hyaluronic acid the right way after reading my article a few weeks ago I thought I’d get into essence. In my article I discussed applying hyaluronic acid on damp skin. Please, don’t apply your HA on dry skin! You’re defeating the purpose if you apply it on dry skin because the the acid immediately goes to work drawing moisture out of your skin and if you’re dry it’s going to suck every single bit of moisture from your skin resulting in a tight feeling. You remember when Malcolm McDowell stick that dude with the disposable water bottle in Tank Girl and sucked the water clean out of his body? That’s what HA does on dry skin.

Misting your face with your favorite facial mist prior to applying hyaluronic acid works a treat but…

Me At 17 And Me Now

muse

With time comes experience with experience comes knowledge with knowledge comes age and with age comes fine lines, wrinkles, gray hair….

I was watching a Tiktoker this morning say that some of his followers were accusing him of being 17 and yesterday JenLuvsReviews posted a 17 vs now photo. Apparently the Internet gods know exactly the content I am viewing online because today everything that pops up on social media is about aging.

I don’t think I mind aging all that much. I’ve seen a lot, done a lot, traveled extensively, had some amazing life experiences, but there’s still much, much more to go but so far it’s been a good trip and hopefully, with age, it gets even better. I have to admit the idea of death does scare me. Not only dying myself but also most importantly losing loved ones. I’ve never experienced the death of a loved one before and the idea of it makes my heart hurt. I mean, my grandparents are gone it sometimes feel like I was really too young to understand that. Also, they lived in Europe so, I wasn’t seeing them every single day or even once a week which made it a little hard to miss them.

Young Muse

I can’t lie to you and say I relish the idea of gray hair and wrinkles. I do everything in my power to take good care of my skin in the hopes it’ll look good well into my 50s, 60s, and beyond. I’m not really into surgeries or botox so, I don’t think that’ll ever be an option.

So far, I think I’m well preserved ;-D That’s my senior high school picture above followed by me at two. And you all know what I look like now:

muse selfie

I dunno if I’m not seeing it or not but I don’t think I’ve changed all that much over the years. Same buggy eyes, same out of control wavy hair, same smooth complexion, I don’t really look in the mirror and see changes. But that’s the odd and tricky thing about aging! We don’t notice the change in the mirror because it happens so very gradually however, it does happen and others notice if they haven’t seen you in a year or two.

Do you think you look the same at 17 as you do now?

Or have you dramatically changed?

Shiseido Rumored To Be Selling Bare Minerals, Buxom, and Laura Mercier

A Shiseido rumor is going around about the potential sale of Bare Minerals, Laura Mercier, and Buxom. This comes as no surprise considering the huge dip in sales Shiseido had in 2020 which had a near 30% drop. They actually closed a good deal of Bare Minerals stores last year as well. I honestly don’t understand the concept of freestanding brand stores. I think it’s terrible idea to carry a single brand in one store. They also took Bare Minerals private a few years ago. I recall their stock performed quite well. Hm…!

That being said Shiseido has a diverse portfolio of brands both here in the US and in Asia including Drunk Elephant, NARS, Cle De Peau Beaute, and more. Shedding some of their color cosmetic ranges would leave more room for production and extension of their skincare category.

It’s become the way of the beauty world at the moment to shed under performing brands some of which like Becca and Clarisonic do come as a shock.

I do wonder how Shiseido Asian brands are doing as I know some Korean brands, like Etude House, are suffering at the moment.

I do hope a sale is in the works as I would miss Bare Minerals, Laura Mercier, and Buxom if they decided to close down production completely. Although, I will say that in recent years the brands really haven’t shown their best faces.

I’ll share more news as it becomes available about the fate of these three brands!

Estee Lauder Set to Release Fiscal 2021 Third Quarter Results May 3rd

Estee Lauder will release 2021’s fiscal third quarter results on May 3rd (before the market opens). The conference call will be archived and available to listen at www.elcompanies.com/investors.

It’ll obviously discuss future prospects and recent corporate developments but also, predictions are Estée Lauder will announce $3.90 billion in sales for the current quarter. Obviously, this is a fairly good growth rate for EL as last year they were at 3.35 billion. Keep in mind Estee Lauder has been shedding brands like Becca not to mention last Summer they slashed up to 2,000 jobs. I’m still convinced as we head into August more bad news will break about potential brand’s being closed down be they part of the Estee Lauder family or not.

Estee Lauder recently brought out the final shares of Deciem which is a brand I’m sure contributes to good earnings for them especially during the pandemic when color cosmetics took a backseat and skincare flourished. Of course, this is a prediction only but all signs point to a positive year for Estee Lauder. The lipstick index may be down but sales are still looking good.

I’m eager to see how it pans out and we only have a short time before the info becomes public.

Do you think it was a good third quarter for Estee Lauder?

Which brands do you think contributed to their success?

P&G Increasing Prices On Feminine Care

Sadly, it’s not enough we’re already hit with a pink tax but Procter & Gamble is also increasing prices for feminine care products to offset rising commodity costs starting September. Tampons and maxi pads are just some of the items that will see a price increase in the Fall! If you have children, brace yourself, baby care will also see a rise (diapers, etc…).

P&G released financial figures for the third fiscal quarter this week and broke the news about the price increase. This will impact brands that P&G owns like Tampax, Always, Luvs, Pampers, and more.

P&G blamed commodity costs for the price raise but said the increase will be offset by new product innovations that “add value for consumers”.

Interesting enough their beauty net sales are up 9% and apparently that was due to SK-II sales. And you said James Corden and Chloe Moretz wouldn’t sell Pitera Essence! Who’s laughing now!

Womens razor sales were also up for P&G but men’s were down. Comically they said men’s razors are down “due to decreased shave frequency”. I dunno why I found it funny everyone just said screw it, it’s a pandemic I’m not shaving!

I guess we’re all moving to disposable Etsy pads now or a Diva Cup?
